You're actually correct in saying that, but what you fail to realize is that not only are desktop GPUs are more powerful, if PC gamers want better graphics they can upgrade their GPU instead of having to wait several years before developers can get the most out of hardware. PC hardware is always advancing, console hardware within a generation is stagnant. You speak a truth with the optimization but it really means nothing in the context of the argument as it ignores all of the other factors. You also ignore the fact that since PC GPUs are stronger than console GPUs, they get more natural life even with the API inefficiencies. Better looking games right off the bat and better looking games throughout their lifetimes as console hardware is still weaker. Console games play catch up with PCs and have to make compromises when the polygon budget runs out due to stagnated hardware.
2. This is an ongoing issue and we see it crop up on the consoles quite often. BF4 was a mess on the Xbox One and PS4, GTA V Online was a mess on the PS3/360. However 99% of games and gamers have no issue on either the consoles or the PC. You just don't see that on the internet due to the fact that the only people that make a fuss are the ones having problems. Drivers and system stability hasn't been an issue since the early 2000s. Once again while you are right, you're downplaying the fact that console games regularly have issues, consoles break, and that PCs are still extremely stable and most games launch without large problem. Basically this is a moot point. Problems arise on all platforms.
3. XBL/PSN invalidate your claims. You can't play Halo 2 online anymore on the Xbox, but you can on the PC port. Console's lifespans dictate that you've bought into a service. When your PS4 dies in 2030, how can you replace it? When my PC dies I can replace it and install the software. There are emulators and plenty of other things on the PC that ensure backwards compatibility with old PC titles. Can't say the same on consoles unless you are willing to continue to pay for new versions of games through re-releases, remasters, and remakes.

I'm a fan of PlayStation over the years. But I don't hate PC. I love PC. I just dislike their smug userbase like yourself. You don't play games. You don't enjoy it. Its a given that if you can't upgrade your console, upgradable machines will surpass it. I thought it was irrelevant and fairly obvious enough to feel the need to point that out. What I was saying is that you are getting more out of the specs of a console when compared with a similar PC setup, simply because dedicated programing of a single locked machine gives consumers more bang for their buck. Developers have a limit and a very specific set of tools to squeeze everything out of that setup.
Thats why I posted what devs could do with 2005 era hardware. That thing is being pushed for all its worth and will see a bigger evolution on what it is capable of doing than any single GPU/CPU setup.

PC gamers have considerably more issues than console gamers simply because there is MUCH more stuff going on in the background of PCs, also being a work tool and all that. Much has been done to deliver a console experience on PC in terms of having to do as little management as possible or minimizing steps to play a game, but its still not there and will never be 100% because PCs are not just gaming machines.
Proof of that is the existence of Steambox. Clearly an answer to the complaints about all the extra crap that comes in between you and your game.

What exactly makes you believe that in 2030 STEAM or other services will still provide you with not only the exact same content and server support you have today, but everything that came up in the following 16 years on top of that? What guarantees you that they will even still be around?
And the thing about consoles is that I can choose not to support PSN or the eshop. If I want I can buy the physical copies of TLoU or MK8 and still be able to play them long before the services went down. I'm buying the game, not the license to play it through a service that might have an expiration date.

How exactly am I paying more for less when I have the choice to play 90% of my console games regardless of the online services. When I can sell and share my games if I want and even watch as some of my purchase gain value as rarities over time?
And yes, the race to the bottom will have some heavily impact on how the industry pushes games. We are starting to see it with the f2p + microtransaction setup and we will see even more if the trend grows in popularity and is adopted by everyone. If you are okay with this then fine I guess.

A developer MIGHT be able to utilize the Graphics abilities or a console proportionately better, but that isn't true at the beginning of a cycle, and it's irrelevent to PC gamers at the end, since they've got a better graphics card. Apart from that, I can do more with my CPU, Memory, and Storage in Windows than you can...because it's a PC. Also, you can't judge a systems capability by a screenshot. Whereas I was running games like Jedi Outcast at 60+ fps, games on consoles see no problem with dipping to 30 fps or below.
2. I cannot remember the last time I had an issue getting a non-modded game to run. The only games I have issues with are very old ones (and new operating systems), and ones with a massive number of mods. The vast majority of my games run without issue.
3. DRM is an issue. That's why I don't generally pay $60 for games anymore. With that said, Microsoft attempted to do far worse than Steam with the XBOX one, and in so doing revealed the real reason for DRM - used games.
4. The ability to resell games isn't particularly relevent on PC. If you're finding yourself selling off your games constantly, you either don't like games very much, or the platform you are using doesn't have good games. I can't imagine selling Simcity 4 or X3: Reunion, even though those games are many many years old. And unlike on a console, when you upgrade your PC you can go back to your old games and enjoy increased performance.
5. Of course, lower priced games are very bad. Very very very bad.
TC is forgetting that the ps3 was more powerful for it's time than the ps4 was when it released last year. Also the ps3 was released in 2006 and despite being more powerful for it's time than it's successor, it is still outperformed by a pc from that year, a core 2 duo coupled with a geforce 8800gt.
