You're actually correct in saying that, but what you fail to realize is that not only are desktop GPUs are more powerful, if PC gamers want better graphics they can upgrade their GPU instead of having to wait several years before developers can get the most out of hardware. PC hardware is always advancing, console hardware within a generation is stagnant. You speak a truth with the optimization but it really means nothing in the context of the argument as it ignores all of the other factors. You also ignore the fact that since PC GPUs are stronger than console GPUs, they get more natural life even with the API inefficiencies. Better looking games right off the bat and better looking games throughout their lifetimes as console hardware is still weaker. Console games play catch up with PCs and have to make compromises when the polygon budget runs out due to stagnated hardware.
2. This is an ongoing issue and we see it crop up on the consoles quite often. BF4 was a mess on the Xbox One and PS4, GTA V Online was a mess on the PS3/360. However 99% of games and gamers have no issue on either the consoles or the PC. You just don't see that on the internet due to the fact that the only people that make a fuss are the ones having problems. Drivers and system stability hasn't been an issue since the early 2000s. Once again while you are right, you're downplaying the fact that console games regularly have issues, consoles break, and that PCs are still extremely stable and most games launch without large problem. Basically this is a moot point. Problems arise on all platforms.
3. XBL/PSN invalidate your claims. You can't play Halo 2 online anymore on the Xbox, but you can on the PC port. Console's lifespans dictate that you've bought into a service. When your PS4 dies in 2030, how can you replace it? When my PC dies I can replace it and install the software. There are emulators and plenty of other things on the PC that ensure backwards compatibility with old PC titles. Can't say the same on consoles unless you are willing to continue to pay for new versions of games through re-releases, remasters, and remakes.

I can't approach that concept differently. like I said, a decent cheap thrill. though it got tedious incredibly quickly... as far as gameplay goes it has less variety than friggin destiny ironically.... yet because of the graphics, presentation and story .... AWARDS! you see why I am "Cynical" about critics? but I'm only THAT cynical here on system wars, because their casual review methods are what drives the arguements between these platforms...
Do you know whats funny? a half-baked £20 mod Day-Z ... was more tense and scary due to emergent gameplay than my entire time with TLOU .... was alot more tense. And carried itself without needing to shove a movie in my face at the same time. yes I liked the story, yes it was graphically impressive .... but that is where it ended.
So to answer your question... I wouldn't make yet another linear zombie shooter..... and I hope the next Uncharted is actually better than Tomb Raider in the gameplay department... but I'm not holding my breath... it doesn't get more shallow than uncharted was.
Fergot to Add... even something half baked like Day-Z will remain relevant with gamers years after TLOU has had its milked sequals and reasons for cows to think they stand a chance at first place.

I wouldn't say either of those are trash, objectively they both accelerated at gameplay in their specific genres, had tons of gameplay variety in both SP and MP. had decent campaigns. completely depthful projects that focused on gameplay and the fans of that gameplay... acknowledged that they were video games first and foremost.... not an uneven balance of "All of our budget into movie!".
And I'l be honest, I say that... while disliking Halo's slow gameplay, and gears slow gameplay .... can you see a pattern? I find console slower shooters to be mundain... growing up on Quake/Unreal/Jedi Outcast/Wolfenstien ET, the earlier battlefields. I'm not jaded... simply put I sampled a time where FPS game modes were more than TDM, F4A, Capture the flag.... where not everything was aimed at the lowest common denominator for maximum profit... but genuine clever ideas... thats not to say I don't enjoy CoD/BF3/4 now and then ect. and I fully acknoledge why they are relevant all these years and games like UC/TLOU won't be.
Because ultimatly the largest portion of gamers want games for their gameplay.
Enough of this subject. you clearly can't see where I'm being objective and my own preference. I'l have it all ways. but when a game gets AAAAE and 200+ awards and can't cook up more than an enemy variety of 5... So Sony games are cheap thrills that get forgotten and MS games are good gameplay and MP that are slower paced. Well. I guess what ever you like to play. That's up to you. You seem like one of those where gaming is your primary concern. So I guess you have more of a say in it all than I do.
I've liked a lot of games over the years. It's just that I simply enjoyed TLOU and Uncharted. I apologize for that. But I like many many more games too.
But yeah. You like gameplay focused games. Halo 3 was gameplay first and narrative second. The cutscenes happened after every level rather than during the level. I understand you. But I think for me it's more of a case that I simply enjoy Uncharted games a lot. But I love Halo too. I get that TLOU has inherent flaws such as AI, enemy behavior, explorability, choices etc. But I really thought the game was good and I enjoyed it a lot. The whole experience was great and that's what matters to me.

The game was "good". I've never had a problem with "Good" as I'm sure we have had this conversation before. but to be labeled the game of the decade, and putting it on a pedestal when it can't even focus on what this medium is about.... is when I have problems.

"Sony wins!" ... wins what..... despite those awards far from close to one of the most played/loved games out there, it has awards. not cult following, not years and years of increasing user base due to the sheer joy of playing/watching it time and time again, not gaming competitive value DESPITE having a multiplayer (something that critics love to ignore.... the MP... when it suits them.).
I PERSONALLY find Halo/Gears slow. that was my point, my preference says I'm not a fan, the objective side of my brain says "well hang on... they are the complete package....." yet they did not get 200+ awards .... and at least halo anyway... is still a bigger deal to the industry... hell its "Successor" just game out.. and scored a 6 ... slammed for reptition and lack of story presentation...
Yet.... one of the most watched on Twitch peaking at 30k people (alot.... especially for non blizzard/moba games) why? BECAUSE IT ACCELERATES AT BEING A GAME.... this ridiculous devide between critics and what gamers actual watch/follow and are ACTUALLY the giants of the industry is astonishing.

2: my rig runs everything I need fine, it's less my specs and more windows that dicks me over. And even then with constant driver updates, software updates, and patches the whole a game running on my PC is a non issue.

One were companies compete with each other to deliver the cheapest products and create a culture where people no longer accept certain prices or simply wait for the inevitable price slash. Now I ask you this, you think this won't affect video game development? You think that even with the current model of 60dollar games still resulting in flops and studios closing, a race to the bargain bin will have no affect whatsoever on how publishers plan out their projects and how much content your money will buy?
