Max Payne 3 - Fresh New Screenshots.

"The game will apparently (if the leaked info is true, which it certainly seems to be) have titilur hero Max Payne living in the skids of Sao Paulo, Brazil where he is addicted to pain killers. These pills will apparently effect how the game plays. The game will naturally see the return of Bullet Time and include lots of battles with hoodlums within the slums of Brazil.

Graphically the game looks pretty good as you can see from the screenshot above, with comparisons to Uncharted 2. Rockstar is using a new animation system along with their RAGE engine and Game Informer notes that the game features "vibrant colors and fully destructible environments."

Well, what do you think? Im not a fan of the enviorements, but other then that, it looks awesome. Now all we need are some gameplay video or a trailer.

I'm not a fan of his new look, but if it's fun, I'm there!

I'm really excited for a new Max Payne game. I love his new look. I hope they can do something fresh with the bullet time system.

Max has new developers, and the old MAX was based on one of the Remedy guys, the new team, based it on the new fat guy in the corner.

Most people put on a few pounds when they get older. Although, Max is more ripped than he ever was.

I am completely against the idea of a stupid cover system. And I pray, PRAY that this game is not defiled by filthy health regen.

I can't comment on that sadly, as I have yet to play Resistence. :cry: I don't mind the setting or the new look, if the story and presentation are good and we see a new Max, I'm fine. But the health regen and cover system mechanics just completely change the way one plays a game. And not in a good way I think. I personally think Half Life 2 and Stalker have the best health systems.

To be honest, those screenshots killed a lot of the hype I had for this game. They look washed out and downright ugly in some aspects. I'm already bored of the setting without having played the game yet. I'm a fan of the first two Max Paynes, but I'm just not feeling this one.

This looks terrible. With this new setting the dark moody melodramatic metaphor infested monologues are gone (or if they still exist they will feel very out of place) also the entire film noir feel of the game seems to have been thrown out the window with the new brighter colors. And wtf is he doing in Brazil? This looks more like Uncharted Rated M edition than Max Payne. This looks like it could be the RE5 of Max Payne, throwing everything we love about it out the window to appeal to a larger audience. RE5 effectively killed any musings of horror from the franchise, and this game seems ready to kill any off any inklings of the film noir theme so prevalent and important in the previous games :(II_Seraphim_II

In the Gameinformer article covering this game, the Rockstar dev interviewed says they a definetly aiming for a noir feel, and state that noir isn't defined by rainy gray cities. in his words, noir can be anywhere, even a tropical enviorment like this, because of the characters and events.

The years haven't been good on Max it seems.

I wonder if remedy okay'ed the radical change. just doesnt seem max payne-ish at all to me. completely different, generic looking shooter set in bright environments so rockstar can abuse bloom and hdr effects like most current gen game developers. ruining max payne but it will still be a decent game im sure.
