Incredible news. It sucks for console gamers, but this development pretty much ensures that the game will be Mechwarrior 5 instead ofMechAssault 3

Is that an atlas? not too sure :P, still lots of info in two hours? Count me in!
Good news, I love mech games. Been a serious lack of them this gen.
Though it sucks it's exclusive... my little brother loves these types of games as well.
havent heard any news regarding who's its publisher so it could be a DD game. hopefully the game is good and we see some ingame footage

No there hasn't.
If it shares the mechwarrior gameplay I'll pass, I mean I love mecha but mechwarrior isn't someting I'm into. Besides I'll be playing Armored Core V and Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS too much to feel like I'm missing out on something.

Which ones have I missed? At least on consoles, I've not seen many mech games. And when I ask for PC mech games, I'm usually referred to the older MechWarrior's and something like Heavy Gear.
This is great new games should be a great pc game since its exclusive. This Plus Hawken are going to be awesome pc exclusive mech fps great time to be a pc gamer if your an fps fan so many games coming out in the near future that will not be a modern warefare shooters like Super Monday Night Combat,Firefall, and PlanetSide 2.

On consoles and handhelds there have been a fair amount of mecha games, mostly Japanese only. Hell some upcoming ones are:
Armored Core V
2nd Super Robot Wars OG
Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS
Steel Battalion Heavy Armor (more like a tank simulator)
SD Gundam Generation 3D
Zone of the Enders HD
Hawken (PC)
Gigantomakhia (PC)
Strike Suit Zero (PC)
Gundam AGE
Masou Kishin II
and obviously this Mechwarrior game.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/31/meet-mechwarrior-online-piranhas-free-to-play-tactical-mech-sim/
After two years of near-total silence about the fate of the MechWarrior reboot, Piranha Games have announced MechWarrior Online, a free-to-play, team-based multiplayer BattleMech sim. It's also going to tell the story of the Battletech universe in real-time, starting from just before the Clan Invasion of 3050. Each day, players will do battle on behalf of the universe's major factions, and each day in the game will represent a single day's action in the fictional Inner Sphere. It will go live in the second half of 2012.
However, in some very real ways, this is not the Mechwarrior you remember. And it's a good thing, too, because Ekman and Piranha games have some very exciting ideas for how to make Mechwarrior more of a tactical sim and less of a shooter.

If you have a PS3/360 Armored Core V might be a good choice, here's some information:

I wasn't a huge fan of AC4 but ACV looks great.
I love what F2G is doing to PC gaming right now. And Mechwarrior lends itself extremely well to MMO. BattleTech: 3025 had such a nice beta and I was devastated when they canceled it before it was done.

Omg Heavy Gear 2 was effin amazing. That series needs to come back. Infact I would buy a gaming PC and become a hermit if it came back.I would have been fine with PC exclusive, but free to play and MMO? Am I the only person who gives a **** about single player anymore?lowe0
I'm sure the single player will be in MMO form maybe like Guild Wars 2.

is something wrong with it?

The FAQ on their site says no co-op component; they're focusing on multiplayer only. There's nothing to suggest that this title has anything for me, which is a shame, because I was really looking forward to it since the trailer.[QUOTE="NoodleFighter"][QUOTE="lowe0"]I would have been fine with PC exclusive, but free to play and MMO? Wow.... Just a few days ago...I was sadly reminiscing the old MPBT 3025 and how much fun it was (until EA pulled the plug on that one)....and now we have this.
Awesome news to start your day with...
So in 2012, Diablo 3, Firefall, Planetside 2 and Mechwarrior Online, amongst others. Epic PC year.

X Rebirth, WarFace, Tribes Ascend, Carrier Command Gaea mission, ArmA 3, and others yeaaaaahhhh
So literally yesterday I was fearing that this game would never exist since we'd heard nothing for so long, and now it turns out it not only still exists but is a PC exclusive? This is wonderful news. I would have liked a standard single player and multiplayer experience--the story details they had revealed sounded very interesting--but this approach makes more sense as a starting point and doesn't rule out other games later on (especially since non-MMOGs would be inherently multi-platform-friendly).
The timing schedule they are aiming for will make things very interesting later on (and a nice surprise for those new to the universe). As long as they don't make the mistake of having the premium items be "pay to win" or abstracting combat too much it should be a great experience.

I'm going to need to clone myself a few times if I'm ever going to put enough hours into all the PC games coming out next year.
All these new titles that harkens back to the play****of earlier PC gaming years...its almost unbelievable that it could ever happen again. A number of years back and stuff like a new Mech SIM game was literally unimaginable.
So what mechs do you guys like? I've always like the Madcat, Bushwhacker, Vulture and Shadowcat.
GD1551
The one that's overpowered :P
Is this that 'MechWarrior Online' and not MechWarrior 5?skrat_01
MechWarrior 5 turned into MechWarrior Online; Dev Blog 0 explains why this change was made.

For Mechawarrior? Well I guess Atlas doesn't look as bad as some of them. For mecha in general? I'm a fan of Masami Obari's works.
I'm not aware of his work. For japanese mecha I like the designs of most of the gundams.
