The Japanese market is a very small market for consoles and console games. PS4 can have 0 sales in Japan and it wouldn't matter much.

@KBFloYd: Well Sony does pay his salary. But the system architecture, internal parts and OS were all created by an American. The Japanese built the outward design and funded the development. But just to give you an idea of what a after thought Japan is Sony launched in the US before Japan.

The point is what sells well in Japan doesn't sell well anywhere else and what may sell well in the US usually does ok everywhere else. When your top selling titles are mobile throwaway trash it shows there nation has fallen drastically in the games department. The only reason Sony was successful with the PS4 was because they gave up trying to please Japan.
