What makes you think that if it was a PS3 exclusive, it would be any better? The powa of da cell?

The fact that you can optimise the features on the particular hardware and that you have 50 gb of space on a single bluray to store data.

Thats didnt help Oblivion. The data was distributed by the bluray disk and, even with an extra year of development, PS3 version ended up looking barelly better han 360 one. Same for Red Dead Redemption. Different dev teams and we know the results.

I think everyone knew the series wouldn't end with 4. It's the mans life and passion and the games have the sales to warrant another game.

The PS3 architecture is not traditional and that makes it harder for traditional programmers but that doesn't mean devs can't use its true potential if they focus on optimising the software. A thing they can't do with a multiplat and specially if the 360 is the lead platform. That will greatly hinder the design of the game for the PS3.

There are many variables that enter into play here. The experience of the developer is important. Kojima looks to have good experience using the PS3 hardware considering the quality of MGS4 so early in the PS3's life.

Eh. More MGS is good. Kinda wish they left it at MGS4 and made a new series though. Ditto for Halo, God Of War, and a few others.

I agree, but saying "lousy port" doesn't make that a fact. its down to the architecture and lack of memory, not the devs fault sony intentionally made it hard to work with.

many devs have used the architecture successfully.

It's Bethesda we are talking about, and the 360 was the lead platform. It's pretty obvious on why the PS3 version is poor...

If Bethesda have more experience of programming and cares about both versions as equal, the story would have been different.

Can't believe this is STILL a thing. Sony's propaganda machine did well. The PS3 is a bit more powerful and Blu Ray discs are big. This balanced by 360 being easier to program for and DVDs reading faster. You can compare all day long, in the end they work out to be equal... There was a bigger difference between PS2 and Xbox last gen, yet people cared faaaaar less.

With all the uncompressed audio n stuff? Yes it would be impossible. Compressed? Not impossible. Still I'm glad MGS4 was exclusive bc there were a lot of great inside jokes for fans of the series. MGS feels right on a sony platform. That's where it belongs.

If Max Payne 3 is possible on 360 then so is MGS4. Sony has done a great job of brainwashing you cows. The only reason MGS4 didn't go multiplat is cause MS didn't want to spend the money on a sequel in a series nobody can understand without playing the entire series. MGS5 will go multiplat tho since now publishers have realized there's nothing to gain from exclusives anymore.

That's interesting, and I can't argue against your evidence. I would look dumb if I do.

But there's something I would like to say - PS3 doesn't have 256MB of memory, it's 512MB. It is split into 2 places and it's possible to merge them two together by being clever in programming. PS3's memory architecture is indeed more complicated to work with but if you are clever, you can do it.

I don't know Epic's level of experience on PS3's hardware but it could be that they have no idea how to work with PS3's architecture. They didn't answer the question, they dodged it instead - this is where it got interesting.

Honestly, I think Epic should have kept their mouth shut.

Can't be Solid Snake, it's impossible. Could be Big Boss Snake though.

If it's for this gen I wonder if it will be a multiplat? The MGS4 engine can't be done on 360 (inb4lemsb!tchandsayotherwise, Kojima said 360 can't handle it HIMSELF), so if Fox Engine is going to be more powerful then it wouldn't be a multiplat engine. Or it would be weaker. But I guess anything is possible with Kojima.

Surely it's just common sense that it could be done on the 360? He even said himself that it could, with little to no difference, and said the 360, PS3 and high-end PCs are all more or less the same. Obviously it couldn't be identical as-is with completely uncompressed audio because it wouldn't fit on the disc, but do you honestly see anything in MGS4 that any other game on the market right now doesn't do, on all platforms? Epic say Gears of War cannot be done on the PS3. Plenty of developers say stuff like that, about both platforms. It's not that the hardware physically cannot handle it, it's more that the way the game was made or the way the game runs has been developed with a specific platform in mind. Heck, by today's standards MGS4 looks pretty damned dated. Here's hoping MGS5 is on as many platforms as possible.

While I would like a remake of MG1 & MG2, Kojima should let the series rest. There really isn't much to add anymore, and MGS4 pretty much wrapped things up (not nicely imo). I wouldn't mind a new IP with gameplay similar to MGS.

I'm a bit skeptical of what the story could be if they're going to use Old Snake again. I thought MGS4 effectively brought the series (or at least Solid/Old Snake) to a close.

Alot of people think Snake died at the end of MGS4. But if you watch to the end credits. It shows another video (i think ) it was snakes dad that stopped snake from shooting himself. He told snake he didn't have that aging disease or something like that.... Been too long.

I know. I watched the whole thing.

I thought they didn't have Snake die at the end because they didn't want it to be so depressing, not because they were gonna make MGS5.

Why laugh? Dont you want gaming to improve?

PS3, and its limited hardware, is turning gaming into an interactive movie media. At this point, it seems only Rockstar and Bethesda are doing it right, its not their fault PS3 cant handle their games propperly :twisted:
