Metal Gear Solid has the best music in gaming

I mean honestly how does Kojima find all this talent? Every single game has won multiple awards even for the soundtrack. Just listen to MGS: Peace Walker's Main Theme, it's unbelievably beautiful. :cry:

Also shows Snake fearlessly taking on a Tigrex. Most B.A. hero ever.

MGS has EPIC music,just like Halo and FF and some other games its just that R* nails the settings,the music is great and when you play it you feel like you are in the 80s(regardless VC).

In my opinion, Shadow of The Colossus, Super Mario Galaxy, The Wind Waker and Okami deserve a nod, too, and a lot of Hans Zimmer stuff as well, but yes, MGS has bloody good music.

I wish OSTs got proper releases more often.

Halo's music is amazing. Especially ODST's. It was a huge departure from the series norm. However, I humbly nominate the Guilty Gear franchise. There are other great songs, but that sums up the music of the series pretty well, imo.

The music quoted in the OP is horrible. BTW, I've played every single canonical game in the series. I've spent hours poring over the in-game encyclopedia and collecting iPod tracks of the very same OST tracks you're talking about. I've beaten Portable Ops TWICE, for god's sakes, and I've beaten both of the original MSX games (Metal Gear 1 and 2).

I am not even a huge fan of NIN, but this has to be one of the most memorable soundtracks in video games. It really complimented the gameplay, creatingthe perfectatmosphere.

MGS is good stuff, too. However, I prefer Amon Tobin and Jesper Kyd'smusic.

No LoZ: OOT has the best music. For me it's more than just the quality of the music and Dolby Digital. I'd take the Lost Woods song over a surround sound orchestrated piece any day.

Halo's heavy emphasis on percussion reminds me the most of Bear McCreary's work on BSG. After listening to all the seasons soundtracks, I can't stand the soaring anthems of FF and MGS and all that stuff.
