Just upping the resolution isn't worth rebuying these games (I own MGS, VR Missions, MGS2 SOL, MGS2S, MGS3 SE and MGS3S LE). If they add all the content from VR Missions, The Document of MGS2, Existence (MGS3 movie edit) and all the extra content included in the "Sub" versions... then I'd buy it. But just giving me MGS, MGS2 and MGS3 (which they already re-released a couple years ago) in HD isn't worth any money...

Nintendo co-developed The Twin Snakes along with their then-second party Silicon Knights. Nintendo employees as well as Nintendo references were in the credits/gameplay. Not happening.

The series has been all over the place. I don't really think it's a Sony exclusive.
Hell, put it on the Xbox 360 as well. Don't think MGS4 would make it there though, which is fine.
Metal Gear has never been a Sony exclusive series. Metal Gear and MG2 were on MSX2 and Nintendo consoles. MGS was on PS and PC. MGS2 was on PS2, PC and Xbox. MGS3 was on PS2 and is now coming to 3DS. TTS is on the Gamecube. And MGS4 is on the PS3.
I wouldn't be surprised to see MGS4 come to the 360, especially if Kojima wants to make some more money.
I'll get it then, hope true since i havent played a single MGS game, have MGS4 but only played it for like an hour.. hopefully we see FF HD collections too
The first MGS is going to look hideous, even in a HD resolution. I played the POP trilogy this week and it still looks pretty ugly, and MGS is from the gen before that.

360 owners would be better off with the HD collection, if only to get a chance to play MGS3. It is miles better than MGS4.

1) What I've suggested only adds to the package... and if they don't put it in, then you'd just be better off finding PS2 copies of the Essentials collection. 2) These will not be remakes (i.e. The Twin Snakes)... they will be HD ports of the originals, with nothing updated or changed. Just another re-release of the Essentials collection with better resolutions (which could make MGS look worse).
I am a huge MGS fan... and would definitely buy this if they put in the effort to add in the content and make meaningful changes (higher resolution textures for instance would make a big difference), then it would be worth buying for anyone. They've already done a re-release of the three major installments... so an upgraded HD re-release is entirely unnecessary (I'm not entirely sure, but I don't doubt you can get 1080i or 480p through component on the PS2).
I have to admit, I hadn't played a single MG game until MGS4, and yes, I was completely oblivious as to what the hell was going on. The game was awesome, but was clueless as far as story. But after picking up the official guide, which did an excellent job of explaining everything, and having since purchased Portable Ops and Peacwalker, which I have been loving especially PW, I'm definitely looking forward to getting these remastered versions.

Ive already got MGS1+2 and only need for. Like Foxhound said, needs alot more than HD to sell me. They should do all the stuff in his post + include MGS3: Subsistence with reinstated servers. Werent the servers up for less than a year originally?
While these HD re-releases are cool and all, its kinda makes you think why they didn't push forward with backwards compatibility. I'll tell you why, so they could just re-release games you bought last gen in slighty higher resolutions and make more money off of saps. And they know people will buy it, thats the worst part. If they can emulate GoW, Sly Cooper, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and now MGS, they surely figured out how to emulate Ps2 games soley off of software.
Already played them all to death so I would only buy this at a budget price myself if at all, I still have the originals upstairs if I want some nostalgia. Good deal if you think every game needs to be remade in HD to be appreciated.

That was one of the best parts of the series. MGS4 went a bit extreme with this but especialy MGS3 had awesome story which wasnt that complicated as MGS4. MGS3 also has second best ending (for me at least). Dont like it, dont buy it.

I dont know much about the process but I believe they do each game separately, they dont probably have a universal program for it. But even if they do, who cares. Nobody forces anyone to buy it.
I have Essential Collection, but I could be talked into a re-buy if they port the games into the MGS4 engine (original assets would be fine). MGS1 & 2 felt okay, and MGS4 felt great (not quite Splinter Cell, which would be my gold standard for stealth controls), but I never really felt comfortable playing MGS3 (tried both the original and Substance controls)

Shame, you've missed one of the best gaming experiences you can get :) The Metal Gear Collection should be a must buy then. ----- This is great news. I have every single Metal Gear _Solid_ game (Too young for Metal Gear 1 & 2 I guess :cry:) But I'll definitely get this if it actually comes. will be fantastic. Also Konami... Where is my MGS4 GOAT/Substance/Sustenance/VR edition? I demand this before a 5th comes out!!
i love it. i hope next gen they will remake 1 2 3 4 and rising and whatever else and add trophy support. i will keep on buying these ps3 remakes theyre the best
Son of a....As happy as I am(rumor or not), im also borderline sick to my stomach. Im in the process of paying my friend for his ps2, which I wanted just to play mgs.
