Ok... first it gets a badge for being a great sequel
Great sequel - Games my be the only medium in which the sequel is routinely better than the previous installment--but just tweaking a few things and adding two moves isn't enough to merit this commendation. Sequels that make significant, exciting improvements are what we're looking for.
Doesn't do much diffrent than the previous two metriod games
thats pretty self explanitory
Your enemies fall faster, boss encounters require less controller fumbling, and there is an overall ease to travel and movement that the series lacked before.
It's a double-edged sword, however, because while most Metroid Prime hallmarks--object scanning, careful exploration, complex puzzle-solving--remain, Corruptio-*n feels less like a probing adventure than a regular shooter.
Ok so let me get this straight... because enemies die faster... which means MORE TIME to focus on ADVENTURING and LESS ON SHOOTING.... it makes it LESS adventurous and more like a shooter???
The good news is that moving about is less frustrating and plodding than before. Your enemies fall faster, boss encounters require less controller fumbling, and there is an overall ease to travel and movement that the series lacked before.
Its core control scheme is a revelation, but the resulting tempo adjustment and streamlining is missing some of the careful pacing that made Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 so superb.
Ok so first its good news that the game picks up pace... then its bad?
Lets go back to the first contradiction again...
Doesn't do much diffrent than the previous two metriod games
Metroid Prime 3 takes on characteristics more akin to a standard first-person shooter than its predecessors did.
Corruption's finest moments are its boss battles, which may not be quite the challenge they've been in the previous Prime games,
Yet Corruption's focus on refined FPS mechanics and general sense of familiarity keep it from being as special as the other Prime titles.
Its core control scheme is a revelation, but the resulting tempo adjustment and streamlining is missing some of the careful pacing that made Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 so superb
Why is it being constantly bashed for being too diffrent from the previous metriod games?
And does gamespot even know that the game has harder difficulties? Oh wait... increased enemy a.i. would make it more like an fps.. wait... nvm dumb enemy a.i. that makes the game easy makes it more like an fps... wait.. aslfkajsd o;fij ;dslfajsd ;flasdhg-9as8uf
I can understand bashing the game for being too fps like, if retro dumbed down the exploration and puzzles to make up for it. But they made the exploration and puzzles as good as ever. Whats so bad about having the best of both worlds?
Lets say MP2 gets a 5/10 as an fps and 10/10 for adventure. If MP3 would have been an 10/10 for fps and 5/10 for adventure then thats understandable. But whats so bad about getting a 10/10 in both?
