monstrously too easy.
sitting a minute half the time in front of a door, waiting for the next part to load before the door opens.
context sensitve controls (grappling, etc) sometimes just doesnt work like it should or the button doesnt register altogether.

they way u said it didnt sound to convincing that u played the game or own it
room mate here at school has a wii, took me 7 and a halfhours to finish on normal, 100 percent completion. most annoying creature? the freakin energy ball things immune to blaster fire that split into two when take enough damage. need i go on?
i believe thats when you take the fuel cell out and grab the multi missile upgrade, which lets them all out.
And a screencapture with 100% complete in 7.5 hours :Phey, its freakin 2 in the morning here, by the time i lumbered over and took a screen cap, id probably fall asleep. i still havent done lab work for my 8 amlab want more? need to go to the pirate mining facility for the nova beam upgrade. have to wait till machine starts to suck then knock down one of the pirates, which will allow you to slowly destroy the pump. eventually netting you the beam. your grapple turns purple after the final upgrade, red if you are pumping energy into stuff.

nah,i played itmyself. i finished, then decided to try some twilight princess, since i havent played any new zeldas lately. and, i will have to admit, mario party 8 is kinda fun, but only if you are playing with at least 3 people.
i just want 2 know this that was ur first try and u got 100% in the game and in 7hours humlastroxas
probably because im a fps junkie and it plays kinda like that to me. i shouldnt have played on normal though, but i didnt fully realize that until i was 2 hours in, too late to go back and start over, lol. besides, once you start activating those satellites its a cakewalk to get all the upgrades, as worthless as most may be (like ship missile and missile upgrades)

I'd say it was more like "Gamefaqs and I beat it in 7 hours at 100% completion". C'mon, 7 hours to get 100%? Maybe if you explored for an extra 10 or 15hours without saving, and then went back to the game when you knew where everything was...
Regardless, I'd say this is possibly the best game so far this generation (okay, I'm a sucker for Metroid), and completely validates the Wii as an FPS monster. It can't handle the textures, but it can sure as hell throw down a mean control scheme.
of course, regardless of what i say, system wars is about the non believing of someone, no matter what proof is given. i could take a picture of myself with my balls hanging out giving a thumbs up at the profile screen of mp3, and you would just say that it is some other guy i found online that i photoshopped ron jeremys nuts on. thats just the way it goes.mtradr43ewwwww

seriously there, it doesnt take that long to get the upgrades. after i activated all the sattelites, i needed 40 or so more upgrades, which i found all of them in about 45 minutes. knowing where they are all at on the map with the white dot helps a lot. id have been done with the game sooner if it didnt take so long to load every 2 minutes at a door.

Wow...Are we really comparing videogames to porn stars?
Anyway...How does it make me feel? Well, I'll be buying Halo in what, 19 days or so, and I'm feeling like I've already played the single player first person experience of the year (I'll be buying Bioshock as well, but that's a little more standard FPS for me), and later I'll be playing the multiplayer first person experience of the year. Halo is a great series, but it's ridiculously overrated ("OMG HALO iz teh best FPS evar!"). You know why the first one was good? The gameplay was tight, and it had a genuine sense of atmosphere. You know what Metroid does best? Atmosphere. Halo 3 can't hold Metroid's jock (*insert latest awesome joke about Ron Jeremy's jock here*) in the single player dept. And multiplayer? Good multiplayer games are a dime a dozen now, so give me a quality single player game any day.
But then again, I'm getting both, so I guess either way I win. ;)
You mean like his DMC3 review that everybody complained about his whinning?[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Like a lot of recent reviews, the Prime 3 review is poorly written, overly "complainy" and self-contradictory. I really wish Kasavin would come back and show them how to write a critical yet insightful review.Panzer_Zwei
Or like his MGS2 one that he himself admitted he overrated?
Then again veryone complains when reviews aren't favorable for them, nothing new here.
When did Greg Kasavin admit that he overrated MGS2?
I own MP3 and while I loved it at first, I have only completed 5% of the game and I'm already back to playing Bioshock for a second time.

Pretty much. Can't prove them wrong.
The only constant in the videogame industry is how well a title or piece of hardware sales, as it's the only real way to measure the appeal of a product and thus how many people enjoy it. Other than that, it's all opinion.

Yes I can, I could give you a link to gamespot's review for MP3. You would be proven wrong. MP3 flopped on Gamespot, so lets move on.
So let me get this straight: you're going to disprove my opinion by giving me another opinion?
Haha. Take a logic course.
He is going to show you it's a flop.. Which he can easily do.
No, he's going to tell me that my opinion of the game is wrong by trying to convince me that another person's opinion of the game is right.
If you don't understand why this concept doesn't hold water, please don't reply.
Well every game in existance is a AAA title then, seeing how at least 1 person believes it
Pretty much. Can't prove them wrong.
The only constant in the videogame industry is how well a title or piece of hardware sales, as it's the only real way to measure the appeal of a product and thus how many people enjoy it. Other than that, it's all opinion.
But here on GS and system wars, its a flop and no ones opinion can change that

Yes, the review is full of weird statments, and maybe even a few contradictions. There was a thread about a week ago that tore the review apart and made the reviewer look like an idiot. Don't worry about the Gamespot review, if you don't like it then read IGN's reviews, I usually agree with them more then Gamespot.coolviper2003

Meh, we move on. Seriously, does this score bother you that much, that while playing Metroid Prime 3, you constantly say to yourself int he back of your mind. "Oh man, this is so 9.5 worthy! Stupid GS giving it an 8.5, what losers!"
I'm playing the game, loving it, but what does it matter? The score is nothing significant to the game's performance, your enjoyment (or shouldn't be) or any relative factor except for bragging rights on a forum called System Wars and possibly helping one choose what Wii game to buy.

Nope, can't prove it wrong. You can try. You can link, quote, post screenshots, do whatever you want with the GS review score, but it doesn't prove a thing. You'd still be saying "you can't have that opinion because this guys opinion says so".
I agree. I was very confused after playing a few hours. I'm not 40% into the game and its just as good and in many ways better than the first metroid prime. And I set my game on Veteran, and its been pretty tough so far. Enemies don't just fall down, especially when you get to the Phazon enhanced ai. And I've been scanning and searching out secrets more than the previous games. GS is flat out wrong, but its ok because MP3 is an incredible game. I haven't really considered GS reviews credible since wario ware got AAA status.Darthmatt
The review was poorly written. Its not a good review, it doesn't help the person reading the review to determine whether or not this game is something they would want to play. Its a piece that would struggle to pass muster in a high school course, let alone something done professionally.
Overall, the new editorial direction at gamespot is not off to a strong start. They seem to be placing a higher premium on being contrarian, and presenting themselves as the "hardcore", defined by adolescent males, game site. Looking at some of the affectations that their writers and reviewers have, looking at this clownish middle school behavior, trying to, laughably, look hard and "urban" in game video reviews, it really diminishes any credibility this site has established over the years. There is starting to be a creeping feeling that gamespot is becoming more and more filled with scenesters, people who are more about the surrounding internet culture and hype about video games, than about the actual games. Which is one of the worst things than can happen to a magazine or site covering any specialist hobby.

Good post, totally agree.
