Metroid Prime for me. Played and beat both multiple times and Metroid just has that journeying into the unknown gameplay that hooks me, not just shoot this alien and move on to next area gameplay found in Halo.
I'm surprised that Metroid Prime is winning this poll (with all the blind Halo fanboys around). I think they're both a bit over-rated, but Halo probably a bit more so. Metroid Prime will definitely age better then Halo. MP will still be a great game that people will want to play 10 years from now, but I think most people who play Halo 10 years from now will think it has aged more so.

Well I'm a Halo fanboy, maybe the biggest, and I voted Metroid. Also, Halo won't age as well simply because it's an FPS. Try going back to play Goldeneye or Doom. On the other hand, Metroid is one of the most timeless adventure series ever. Oh course Metroid will age better.
Metroid Prime is the most boring ass game I've ever played on the GC.Â
MP2 didn't do anything for me either and the one on the DS...gawd -_- I could fall asleep with the controller in my face playing that series. Besides, the old Metroid games kicked ass

Halo is one of the most overrated games of last gen. Sure the multiplayer was a blast, but the Single player was a repetitive borefest. I'd take Metroid Prime any day.
The two games are very different, I own and have played through both of them though so I will offer my opinion. I have had way more fun and playthroughs with Halo CE. The 2 player co-op is extremely fun, especially on Legendary difficulty. That game sold the original Xbox for me.
It's an odd comparison, since the two games are almost nothing alike. Halo has amazing multiplayer, but comparing single player to single player, Metroid Prime wins easily, as good as the campaign in Halo is.

Ironically, I found Halo's single-player to be MUCH MUCH more boring than Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime wasn't boring at all.
I could never play Halo's sp more than once, its awfull. Metroid Prime, on the other hand I have beaten 5 times, and it just seems to feel better and better each time through, thanks to the detail. No other single-player game has ever done that for me.
Halo's saving grace apparently is the co-op on the X-Box for those who haven't played the better PC FPS games.

Wow don't you ever say Halo 2 was better than Halo CE Its multiplayer is much better. I dont care about single player If you'd played LAN games like me and my friends did, you would think very differently. Halo2 is junk compared to the HaloCE in every aspect aside from having online play.
i personally have to say MP because it had more of a lasting effect on me i loved everything about it: gameplay, graphics, music, level design, atmosphere etc halo was good to, but i wasn't as good as MP in a few areas, mainly level design, atmosphere and the gameplay wasn't as varied IMO

Oh God no...
I hated playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2 (Please Bungie, keep him on the sidelines in Halo 3...)Â so Halo CE wins based on single player alone. Plus, Halo's multiplayer was just more fun due to the higher map quality (Hang em high kills anything in Halo 2 IMO), less exploitable glitches and less noob friendly weapons (energy sword + random noob = ARGH...).
And MP 2 was a great game and all but it doesn't quite hold a candle to the original.
