Metroid Prime vs HL2

I ask because it's GameFAQs poll today.

I have to say I enjoyed HL2 much more, and in fact never really felt like finishing Prime. Not to mention the many wondrous mods spawned from it.

None the less, the poll is damn close. Which of these games do you prefer?

Metroid Prime 8)

Metroid Prime. I near flawless game, one of the best metroids, and extremely innovative for its time.

Too tough to decide. Both are excellent games.

Metroid Prime by far. I was just replaying halflife 2 with that fakefactory graphics mod and I still couldn't stand it.

Metroid Prime. Even though I enjoy Half Life 2, I never go back to the game.

I thought it was a 10 to me, but due to to a couple things I couldnt give it that 10. Mainly the end of the game just being dissapointing. The most epic ending in a metroid game is Super :). Still its one of my favorite games ever.

I played Prime before I went and played Super. Compared to nearly every other game Super is a beast, but compared to Prime I just couldn't like it as much.:)

you didnt find the ending a bit boring though? I wish it wasnt, because the rest of the game is phenomenal. I love the puzzles and such. But Super Metroid had an AWESOME final boss, with a great lead up to it and the music was awesome. not to mention the scene that takes place and the escape. Primes just wasnt that good, which is shocking given the rest of the game. And Super was my first metroid game.

I don't remember the final boss of Prime too well, but I didn't think it was too bad. Yeah it was a pretty straight forward fight but I didn't consider itdissapointing.

Half Life 2. Much better form of storytelling, more interesting world etc. Not a big fan of Metroid and I'm kinda suprised by the huge imbalance in votes

I can't believe I'm going to say this... One, we're talking about a franchise that wasn't even primarily made in the first person view. Two, it's a first person game that I played on a freaking controller--which means points should automatically be deducted because of it--strangely enough though, I actually enjoyed the controls in the damn game...

Half-Life 2 did a lot of interesting stuff for the fps genre and I most certainly loved the game since the first day it came out; but I'm actually going to go with Prime here, which surprises me a little bit since I never thought about it untill this thread.

I find that Prime actually stood the test of time better than Half Life 2 did, and when you take into consideration that Prime came before it, that speaks volumes in my book.

There's also the thing where Prime more closely resembles my favorite types of shooting experiences; I love Half-Life but there are other games out there with shooting elements that I enjoyed more. That said, I still find Half-Life to be one of my favorite linear shooter experiences on the market.

So yeah, what do you know? Prime for me.

Metroid Prime **** all over Half-Life 2. Just an all together better-designed game with better puzzles, better shooting, more depth.

Wow, really though choice, one is my favorite FPS ever, the other is one of my all time favorites, i'm going to go with Metroid Prime since it was the game that brought me to the wonderful Metroid World.

Metroid Prime is nothing short of incredible. The atmosphere is really what makes the game.

Metroid Prime for me as well, I just couldn't take Half Life 2 seriously (granted I only played the demo) but I might get the orange box when I get a better graphics card.Banjo_Kongfooie

True, I agree. But you can formulate which experience was more enjoyable or left a more substantial impression on you as a whole.

If I was pointing a gun at you foxhound, at this very moment and asked you to choose, you would of course say Metroid Prime!

...

--at least that's the decision I think you would make based on your previous posts I've read XD.
