Beg away Rebel Strike, RE Remakes, RE4, F Zero GX, Metroid Prime, Wind Waker and more were all among the top of the league for last gen standards. Wii's only real head turner is SMG, its standards just aren't anywahere near as high as the Cube's wow factor was. At least the Cube actually got some of the big multiplats. The Gamecube was excellent for its time and I'm proud to have had one.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"][QUOTE="Blade8Aus"]
I beg to differ. Even though it had some great first party titles, they were few and far between and many (but not all) multiplats were better on the other platforms and the GC even missed out completely on a lot of them.
I think that both the Wii and the GC have/had similar standards.

Same! Those are great games indeed. But it depended too much on them. PS2 and Xbox gamers largely ignored the console completely because they just saw it as the 'cheap' console. The multiplat titles often weren't the best because of the controls either, even though the controller was fantastic when the games were designed with it in mind.
The Wii has more than just Mario, but like the GC, I feel as if it's mostly just first party titles with a few other exclusives here and there that make it great.
My point is that even though there was a lot of Gamecube owners, such as you and I, that were very happy with their purchases, the Gamecube was, to a lot of people, the cheap console that was selling badly for a reason. It just didn't have the games that most people wanted to play.
Also, I do believe that we're getting a bit off the subject of the OP here.
It did have the games but the fruity looking purple lunchbox and candy controller didn't do a lot of good for its image. In my opinion the Wii has got it the other way around this time, in my opinion :) Topic related post: This should have been an easy victory for Prime IMO
