Have to say that playing through metroid prime on the gamecube was one of the biggest chores I have ever had to go through... so much pointless backtracking and uninspiring battles. IMHO it does not hold a candle to Halo, Half Life, Resistance, Gears or most FPS's. Sheep talk about nintendo innovating then lets see how much they change the metroid formula aside from the controls. dblinDid you ever play a Metroid game before Prime? You're clueless.
Flame Shields to Maximum!!!
On a serious note, I'm indifferent toward metroid but I'm not getting into this mess you are about to bring upon yourself.
1- Resistance isnt even that special as a FPS. you can name alot of FPS games wether PC or console that are better.
2- Metroid doesnt actually play like a shooter, its more like a hybrid like Bioshock. FPS meets action adventure.
3- Metroid is a great game and great series proven by its consistant review scores among most sites and magazines.
4- Your opinion does not equal fact.
5- Metroid Prime 3 looks awesome and will keep me busy till Halo 3.
I think MP1 is the best game to come out thus far this decade imo.
It's not constant action and is more exploration based which I've always loved about the series, the action parts that are in the game are incredible though, and the boss fights are the best I've ever seen in a game; any body remember the space pirate "thanatos"?
Youre completely missing the point of Metroid. Metroid is not a bull in a china closet killfest where you are constantly getting swarmed and have to fend off the hungry hordes like other FPSes. Metroid is also not about the kill counts or cheap visceral thrills like blowing off heads with shotguns and such.
Metroid has always been about starting off helpless and alone in an alien world and trying to survive basically. Its about exploration and finding new weapons to make yourself stronger, with slaying the bad guys and escaping as your ultimate goal. In a way Metroid has a lot more in common with something like Silent Hill or Resident Evil than those other games you named.
I guess it didn't hold your intrest because it wasn't like OMG! bad guys! bang, bang bang!!!! Boom, headshot! Throw grenade, Kaboom!!!!!!! Hit B...HIT THE B BUTTON!!!!! Kapowwzzzzzz! Dakaa, dakka, dakka!!! Pa-Kew!!!!! That guys arms and legs blew off! Teh awsome!

Let alone the fact that you are saying that the entire metroid series is boring based off one game. That's like saying Halo sucks because you can shoot people with a pistol very far away from you, even though they fixed that. It is a different game.

Think of this.. NO MORE BACKTRACKING. MORE SHOOTING. Happy ?Â
Yeah Metroid is REALLY boring.wallpaper42
The game on your avatar was quite the bore as well, I guess we all got different likes..

I never liked metroid, wasnt interesting 15 years ago when I first played it and it hasnt changed. With metroid I never got the sense of progression or accomplishment cause of back tracking, therefore it seemed depressing to me and a waste of time.
Let me get this straight. The game was so boring that you completed it?karicha9

I think you hit the nail on the head there!Â
You can't really compare crap to the masterpiece like Metroid Prime just because you aren't tossing grenades and sniping headshots from 8 miles away. You can't say there was no action either cosidering enemies are practically in every room and become more powerful as you complete more objectives and become more powerful. Still yet, it isn't an FPS (First Person Shooter). If you want that from Metroid, play Hunters; that game is very much an FPS with adventure elements. This is why I love the Metroid games, they are basically the closest thing to a perfect game because it allows for freedom to roam around, a unique story and (as far as prime is conserned) a unique way to represent it, amazingly fun and somewhat difficult boss battles, multipul endings based on preformance, and it is overall very fun. I think that, in my opinion, that you could only be bored with the series if you have either an extreme case of ADHD or a preconcieved idea of how the game is going to be "bad".coreygames
I love Super Metroid and the Metroid games for the handhelds. I did happen to play a demo of Metroid Prime one time, and I think I either fell asleep or blacked out from boredom. Metroid in 3D is a bad idea, so I'm going to agree with topic creator.TheXboxgamer73WOW you played a DEMO and you judge one of the GREATEST games of all time and say it's a BAD IDEA! Wow, I never cease to be amazed when I come to Syssstttteeeemmmm Waaarrrrrssss!

Nah..I've played a lot of Metroid games. I think the Metroid franchise is the most overrated of Nintendo's. Metroid Prime was a bore. Music in Metroid is great though.Â
