Yeah, it is strange. As I said in my last post the GPU in PS4 is clearly more powerful than the one in X1, around 50%. But the difference between 720p and 1080p at the same framerate is 100%. PS4 certainly has a graphics processing edge but not by that much. Only thing I can figure is that in addition to the weaker GPU devs are struggling with X1's memory architecture as well.
Look at behind the sign, the shadow is actually better in the ps3 version. also the ground looks muddier for some reason.
The shadow looks worse in the PS3 version. Shadows don't have perfect sharp edges in real life; there are interference patterns on the edges of shadows... it's basic physics. PS4 does a better job of mimicking real interference.
@shawn30: I thought MGSV was promoted at at a Microsoft event... that's not enough? You can't say they didn't try, other wise you can say the same thing about Titanfall not being 1080p @60FPS. If an exclusive game can't do it right then you can't blame anyone else. Maybe if they used 2D crowds they could do 1080p though...
It was but that was nearly 8 months ago. What I'm saying is I'm not hating on whatever resolution and framerate the game comes in at. But I'd love to hear him speak on how they are optimizing and genuine give a damn that they will achieve the best performance available for the console. I get that multiplats will perform better on PS4. I just don't give a damn enough about resolution to care. But I do care that the dev give a damn about me enough to express they are working hard to give my platform the best it can be. The makers of BF and CoD and Titnfall are all doing that and even with the resolution differences I'm enjoying and bought the games. That's my point. People can fight all day about 1080p. It didn't make me buy killzone. It hasn't sparked me to pick up a PS4 for Infamous. But Titanfall is on everyone's lips and its not the best looking game at all. Its simply one of the best playing.
I'm sure they did their best on XB1 version as well. Those Japanese proud of what they do so I doubt that they did a half ass job on 1 version to make themselves look bad!
I can see why 60FPS is not always possible, more things then just the raw graphics effect frame rates. I don't think anybody minds the occasional frame drops here and there and I can see why some devs would want to lock 30 if the drops are not occasional but constant which may be due to physics, AI, or just the graphics (but really they should be optimising better if that's the case), in my opinion though 30FPS looks like shit at 1080p, unless someone comes up with a blur filter that works and is not distracting to smooth out the judder but that hasn't happened yet, 720p 30FPS wasn't such a huge problem though nowhere near as noticeable.
Dropping the resolution below 1080p should be the last resort, most people want to run games/films/TV at the native resolution of their TV and not some upscaled crap. One of the reasons I use my PC for multiplat games recently and it makes all the difference, sure I can tolerate 720p... but why tolerate it if you don't have to.
Really doesnt make much sense why the bone has such a resolution disparity, its obvious the ps4 is more powerful, but it shouldnt be this much more powerful.
But all last gen, when hermits were gushing over 1080p and 60fps. I said i played on consoles because i preferred the platform features and exclusives (which is true). Were cows only playing consoles because they were too poor to afford a gaming PC? It seems like if all console gamers cared about is resolution and fps they should have been PC gamers for many years now.
I think it has something to do with MS's tools and the esram. From what I heard the tools are slowly getting better and the problem with the esram may be mitigated a bit in the future.
Well considering the OS is garbage, and they obviously were throwihng this console out last minute i gave them some leeway at the start, but multiple months in it seems like there is something wrong beyond the obvious. I expected multiplats to get closer and closer to parity not farther apart in performance.
I mean going into my console purchase i preferred the microsoft exclusives and i actually really like the kinect so i dont regret it, also not a big graphics whore. Which i actually have stayed consistent on... but something just seems wrong with the xbox one.... it should be capable of better performance. I think its a valid criticism to ask why the xbox one is performing so poorly, granted the cows are kind of lifelong virgins about it... but i think a valid criticism does exist. The xbox one should be performing alot better.

This isn't as surprising after it was found Xbox One couldn't handle COD: Ghosts at 1080p. I know Microsoft's sales haven't been going great with their tablets, operating system (8), and gaming platform; but I really hope they use this and recover from it. I am almost religiously attached to Windows 7. I love it (slightly off topic). I loved all the great games Microsoft brought to their 360 in 07, and all the cool features they brought with it. I know they are trying hard to innovate, but I hope they also listen to what people want out of their products next time. I'm not angry with you Microsoft, just very disappointed.
