Hmmm. may just Gamefly it.

It also says that they experimented with the extra modes. It doesn't say that they finished that stuff. Who knows how much side content is in the game.
gonna wait for Phantom Pain which will most likely come out next year, since i'm 100% sure Ground Zero will be included with it.
i don't want to pay twice for it even if it is cheap.
The thread got updated, it now says they finished the core game in 2 hours.
So it's basically a demo. I hope this bombs.

Easy for most people to pass on it. Pretty sure it will be INCLUDED in Phantom Pain for the normal $60 price..
Can't really blame kojima either. Talking about a fan base that bought Zone of Enders on PS2 JUST to play the MGS2 demo.. It will probably do decent and see some nice price drops before Phantom Pain comes out

I seriously doubt that when they can profit off two releases.
I just read that the main mission only took 2 hours to complete, so 4 hours was being extremely generous because that includes the bonus crap. That is a joke. Can't see how any one could complain about Tomb Raider and then pay $40 for this.
Wasn't the original MGS super short too?
MGS1 on playstation? That game is really damn long
You can speed run through MGS1, people can beat it under an hour and a half. I mean hell I can beat RE2 in under an hour.

No it's not :/ ... It's about a 5 hour game, 7 or 8 without skipping cut scenes.
Well I haven't played it in years so maybe my memory is clouded. It feels like it was longer
I think most first time playthroughs I've seen with friends memory cards were in the 11-15 hour mark. That's goofing around and exploring though and that's 90's when it was new, before Youtube walkthroughs and the like.
I was able to get subsequent playthroughs back then under 12 hours (10ish?, it's been years and I don't remember the specifics) without skipping, but with skipping, he's right it can be short if doing a speed run and knowing every nook and cranny, where to turn, where to shoot, etc.
Seems to have very high production value and MGS always have good replayability, so this does not bother me. Console game drop price very fast also with use game market.
Other websites are saying its only two hours long... im all for a short game as long as its good but 2 hours for $30? i'll probably just save the money till its $15 or $20
So apparently new updates came from GI and they actually did the main mission in 2 hours. The other 2 hours were spent dicking around with other modes
Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short," Game Informer writes in the cover story (only available in the magazine, not online). "We completed it in just less than two hours
Hmm 4 hours including the cutscenes?
I would want to hope not, if that is the case, the gameplay time would be measurable in minutes, it would only have one hour of gameplay at the most.
Assuming it is not including the cutscenes, I am not surprised and I struggle to see how anyone else is surprised, Metal Gear Solid 4 only had 4-5 hours of gameplay when the cutscenes were skipped, yet since everyone jumped on board the Story Whore Express, everyone was too delusional to see that. It may be half price but it's still not worth it for that little gameplay, in the same manner as Metal Gear Solid 4 was never worth anything close to it's original price tag. I wonder if this includes an online mode where you have to pay real money for extra content rather than unlocking and where you have to pay real money for something as basic as a new character slot (CoD and sports games may be cash grabbers but Metal Gear Solid is no better).
@Ballroompirate: didn't really see. Just saw an update on GAF and updated this one.
Dont know if its other game modes or difficulty modes or what
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
God, I hope this will finally stop the Weeaboos from begging for a sip of Kojima-san's bathwater. Somehow I know all of his apologists will come out of the woodwork after the launch.

My second play through was four hours. I think my first was five or six. MGS is a short short game.

No it wasn't.
The GS review summary even said how the game could be beaten in 4 hours.

The last time you played that game, you must've been young. The average is apparently only 11 hours long and 14 hours to complete everything in the game.

Also, I love how Jeff Gerstmann wrote that terrible review where he said, "Once you know exactly what to do and skip as many cut-scenes as possible, you can complete the game in three hours or less," as if the game is bad because you can speed-run it really quick. As if you couldn't do the same for games The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Super Mario 64, etc. I am by no means a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, but that review was fucking terrible.
Yeah yeah I admitted earlier in the thread that I hadn't played the game in like 12 years and nostalgia clouded my judgement
What a rip off. This crap should be 5-10 bucks tops.
Exactly, the devs even came out and defended the game length saying stuff like "Dear Esther was only a few hours long but was a masterpiece". But Dear Esther was $10 not fucking $30-$40.
If the game cost $15 I bet you nobody would care this much about length

I agree. The sad thing is that this might actually sell at least moderately. It's basically only there to quench fans, in which some are crazy enough to waste their money on inferior tech demos like this.
