Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is X, but Y is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games A, but game B was so disappointing!"
I kind of think it's cool, it's rare for a gaming series to have it's fans so divided on which game they think is the best and the worst. It's a sign of how unique and amazing MGS really is.Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is X, but Y is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games A, but game B was so disappointing!"

When we were young we didn't really get it. Years later listening to the conversations again and it's creepy how prophetical and chilling Kojima designed the game. You have the hater baddies just call it convoluted, truth is they just weren't bright enough to understand the critique, the prophecy. While the game is and claims it's solely a work of fiction, it's creepy how close it hit home. - MGS is BY FAR the deepest videogame series of all time, it's mixture of reality and fiction, prophecy and moral lessons are unmatched in gaming, it's branching and evololution is unparralel. All this in an action'esque game, not some boring turn based RPG with a million lines of text. - Truly remarkable. - Watch in awe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_W4EV-ikJY Some random quotes for nostalgia: "Raiden turn off the console now" --- "Fission Mailed" :D - Dangers of Censorship, evil big corrupt corporations, this game was a total mind****. What a trip. AlistarHP

For the rest of us: No, it is not.
Yeah, I remember a huge topic about this on reddit a few months back. It is pretty amazing.
Oh, and...MGS2>MGS3. :twisted:Just putting that out there. Bring on the flames!

Unless you provide an example of a series as deep, your opinion means nothing.Anyone who didn't think MGS2 was deep didn't understand what they were seeing. The dialogue isn't exactly ace but it does say some very interesting things. I played it for the first time last year and I couldn't believe the parallels. Hell, the government is trying to censor the internet as we speak. Although I wasn't a part of it, I think it was incredible that Kojima lead everyone to believe that Snake was the star going as far as to replace Raiden in cutscenes with Snake. Everyone felt comforatable in the first mission, then everything was turned on its head, just like when you learn about how the patriots have been controlling everything. Its masterful. I'll never forget the game ordering me to turn off the system. MGS3 is my favorite in the series but MGS2 is the best.

Well.... this is the COD generation after all.
dude you know the answer to that. Everyone must give their "expert, hardcore gamer opinion". I love mgs. I still go back and play any of them.Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is X, but Y is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games A, but game B was so disappointing!"

Why so vague. Lets fix that shall we..

yes yes everyone that has ever pooped themselves must be chilled by uncanny Nostradamus like prophesying.

Actually, non MGS fanboys tend have MGS3 astheir favourite, MGS1 also being an excellent game but MGS2 being a convoluted mess with a bad story and MGS4 is not a real MGS game. But of course, when sharing this opinion, they claim they are die hard Kojima fans. WE DON'T F****NG CARE ABOUT PEOPLES WRONG OPINIONS. MGS1: 8.5 GS/9.8 IGN not GOTY MGS2: 9.6 GS/9.7 IGN not GOTY MGS3: 8.8 GS/9.8 IGN not GOTY I agree with IGNs numbers on all three accounts, GS criminally underrated all of them except MGS2, though 9.6 is a little on the low side IMO. MGS4: 10 GS/10 IGN GOTY. ^Agree with all there MGS1: 9.9/10 MGS2 9.8/10 MGS3 9.7/10 MGS4 10/10 IMO. But of course. Darklink, that guy with skyrim sig/ava, the guy with psn/xbl sig and some weird dude as avatar and those people are real metal gear fans so they know what's best.MGS2's story was dumb, ESPECIALLY at the end.SilverbondA higher intelligence is required to comprehend the MGS story. A lot of people say its convoluted but, in reality its just your IQ showing its limits.
MGS2's story was dumb, ESPECIALLY at the end.Silverbondlol this post says a lot about you, more then you think. Try watching the vid again, now that your not a preteen playing a videogame like I was and you probably were when you played MGS2. If you have, then this post is even worse then I initially thought.

@ TC I liked MGS2 I even liked Raiden at least they were trying some thing different
As for the codec conversation its funny that some of what they were talking about has started to happen albeit on a smaller scale lol

But the fact that my 11 year old brother has played MGS4 and understands it really says something about everyone who still thing MGS is hard to follow.
George Orwell was more of a Prophetical Genius than Kojima ever was
George was about 40 years ahead of his time.

they irony of this post, you say hes wrong for generalizing and you do it too.
One of my favorite franchises last gen, i really liked the game...but i think they are far from being the best gaming has to offer, not to mention they should just leave the plot the way it is, i want MGS5 but i wan't a new setting or a new plot, give the Cobra Unit in WW2 and then we talk.

I agree with IGN, GS criminally underrated MGS1 and MGS3. I say MGS4, no matter how you slice it, should be the lowest in the series. I think the gameplay is the best, but the story is a mess (whereas MGS2's wasn't!)
