Erm, is this just a praise MGS thread, or do you have some examples of how 'prophetical' the codecs are? Like you know, something that backsup the statement other than a love of the franchise....

Theres a youtube link to part 1 of one of the codecs. Truly impressive how ahead of his time Kojima was. Reminds me of a lot of what is going on today with Occupy and SOPA.

MGS3, MGS1 have the best stories in games. MGS2, not so much.

I loved MGS2 back in 2002 when i first played it and I still love it today. Probably my favorite game on the PS2, I think it holds up so well today.

MGS 1 & 3 are the best in my eyes...after the first game, the series just started getting...weird. I give Snake Eater some slack because the 60's settings at least made more sense with their weird prototypes (it was the Cold War era, and everyone was pretty much in a rush to beat each other with the most intimidating technology). That, and the camouflage system was brilliant, and who can't deny the awesomeness of eating everything in sight .

Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is X, but Y is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games A, but game B was so disappointing!"

I kind of think it's cool, it's rare for a gaming series to have it's fans so divided on which game they think is the best and the worst. It's a sign of how unique and amazing MGS really is.

The problem with MGS2 is that there was too much of Raiden and too little of Snake in it.

Anyone who didn't think MGS2 was deep didn't understand what they were seeing. The dialogue isn't exactly ace but it does say some very interesting things. I played it for the first time last year and I couldn't believe the parallels. Hell, the government is trying to censor the internet as we speak. Although I wasn't a part of it, I think it was incredible that Kojima lead everyone to believe that Snake was the star going as far as to replace Raiden in cutscenes with Snake. Everyone felt comforatable in the first mission, then everything was turned on its head, just like when you learn about how the patriots have been controlling everything. Its masterful. I'll never forget the game ordering me to turn off the system. MGS3 is my favorite in the series but MGS2 is the best.

If there was less of Raiden, I think more people would have liked MGS2

For me, MGS2 is the best... mainly cos of the return of liquid.

Everything Kojima does, is genius.

Awesome moment..

To be fair you were meant to be playing this when you were young. Young people really can't love a game like MGS like an older person can. I remember playing Silent Hill 2 when I was 12 and I didn't like it. I replayed it when I was 17 and loved every single second of it. Sometimes, it pays to wait until you're older.

Actually, non MGS fanboys tend have MGS3 astheir favourite, MGS1 also being an excellent game but MGS2 being a convoluted mess with a bad story and MGS4 is not a real MGS game. But of course, when sharing this opinion, they claim they are die hard Kojima fans. WE DON'T F****NG CARE ABOUT PEOPLES WRONG OPINIONS. MGS1: 8.5 GS/9.8 IGN not GOTY MGS2: 9.6 GS/9.7 IGN not GOTY MGS3: 8.8 GS/9.8 IGN not GOTY I agree with IGNs numbers on all three accounts, GS criminally underrated all of them except MGS2, though 9.6 is a little on the low side IMO. MGS4: 10 GS/10 IGN GOTY. ^Agree with all there MGS1: 9.9/10 MGS2 9.8/10 MGS3 9.7/10 MGS4 10/10 IMO. But of course. Darklink, that guy with skyrim sig/ava, the guy with psn/xbl sig and some weird dude as avatar and those people are real metal gear fans so they know what's best.

Actually, once your IQ hits the triple digits, MGS story becomes extremely simple and outdated, truly only 12 year old basement dwellers would assume it's a good story. If you want REAL prophetical genius, you should look no further than the Call of Duty franchise, WW3 is imminent.

Considering one of the reasons fans wanted MGS4 was to answer any remaining questions (ie, CLARIFY) about the story (which it did), I'm not surprised he was able to understand it. Further, I never said the story was hard to follow (living through an arm/patriots died 100 years ago/AI bullcrap), I said it was dumb. Which it is.

Its convoluted because its sometimes too involved and always explaining everything in detail, even simple things you pretty much already know. I'm not saying there weren't a few good ideas in there, but its wordy and the complexity doesn't really add to the ideas.

You have the hater baddies just call it convoluted, truth is they just weren't bright enough to understand the critique, the prophecy. While the game is and claims it's solely a work of fiction, it's creepy how close it hit home. - MGS is BY FAR the deepest videogame series of all time, it's mixture of reality and fiction, prophecy and moral lessons are unmatched in gaming, it's branching and evololution is unparralel. All this in an action'esque game, not some boring turn based RPG with a million lines of text. - Truly remarkable. - Watch in awe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_W4EV-ikJY Some random quotes for nostalgia: "Raiden turn off the console now" --- "Fission Mailed" :D - Dangers of Censorship, evil big corrupt corporations, this game was a total mind****. What a trip. _TheJoker_

It is your opinion.

The way people praise Kojima and the MGS franchise is...disturbing.

One of my favorite franchises last gen, i really liked the game...but i think they are far from being the best gaming has to offer, not to mention they should just leave the plot the way it is, i want MGS5 but i wan't a new setting or a new plot, give the Cobra Unit in WW2 and then we talk.

Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is X, but Y is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games A, but game B was so disappointing!"

Why so vague. Lets fix that shall we..

Is it possible to have a Metal Gear thread without people saying "My favourite is MGS2/3, but 4is the worst game ever made, I'm a huge fan of games 1-3, but game MGS4 was so disappointing!"

Ah you got me, MGS3 is the fan favorite, I threw in my own love for MGS2. I agree with IGN, GS criminally underrated MGS1 and MGS3. I say MGS4, no matter how you slice it, should be the lowest in the series. I think the gameplay is the best, but the story is a mess (whereas MGS2's wasn't!)
