Its all in here straight from Kojima and team themselfs, end. Lower amount of polygons than Gears 1 (8000-15000)!

anyone that thinks MGS4 is the graphics king is just a hardcore MGS fan, or a PS3 fan wanting to justify purchase.

it is OFFICIAL that the game was rendered in sub-HD resolutions and upscaled, many many many tricks were implemented to make the game appear to have next gen visuals when in truth the resolution and poly counts are closer to last gen PC titles due to some bottlenecks in the PS3.

this has been covered to death in AVS forums and places where people count pixels. funny the double standard cows love to apply - hyping the 1080p to death, bashing games that are sub-1080p on 360, then hyping MGS4 as the visual king when it is just glorified 665p (but not authentic as it cheats on some V pixels)

i played the game beginning to end and i thought gears 1 looked better. the textures in cs 1.6 looked better than mgs4's and the character models, although they looked good, didnt look better than the gears 1 models.

welcome to the most shallow generation of gaming, brought to you by spoiled kids with rich parents that don't care about gameplay and just want things that are visually stunning and amazing. the ones that say 'omg, it does not suck, graffix are awesome!'. the market is driven by these people - by people that put form over substance. we've been lucky this gen and had a few games where the gameplay nearly matches the presentation - but more often than not they're just shallow pretty things (Uncharted, i'm looking at you) that only last the length of an epic film, or two short films.

i'll take the gameplay over visuals any day. i only point out MGS4 low resolution to point out the hypocrisy of others. i personally don't enjoy the game because i can't stand the story, and don't enjoy the gameplay at all.

As a fan of both games I have to say even with the so called "lower" polygon level in MGS4 than Gears, Snake has a better character model detail and textures than Marcus. The face and the hair looks better too. MY OPINION. I'm probably gonna get flamed anyway...

Its funny, no hilarious after teh PS3 fans all talked about X amount of polygons and how it makes it look so good. And how the characters are so high polygon and same in other games. Guess broken dreams are sharp! ;)

You're not alone. I think the same too. MGS4 looks overall better than Gears. Gears 2 seems to be better than both graphically though.

Gears has a higher resolution but MGS4 runs a lot smoother with very little in the way of "textures" popping up. I hate load-screens in the middle of battle and MGS4 doesn't have them. MGS4>Gears! /thread!!!

Characters look great in MGS4. Why should I care if they have less polygons?

I'd like to see Fable 2 get a 10 to see how long Cows damage control.
