MGS4 looks awful. Is this the best the PS3 can do? (56k a no go)

I thought PS3 was supposed to be the most powerful console this gen. Just look at these textures:

MGS4 is strong graphically, but it isn't breaking any new ground. The most impressive thing about the engine is its ability to keep everything smooth when there's a lot going on.

Man you couldnt be more wrong... Surey i care about graphics but you should get back from lemmingsland, reality is a different story... MGSIV is not just a favorite game to me, its to many others too... also its important to note that MGS is the best series ever made...

Also you mentioned Uncharted, which is the best looking game on any console (currently) so you should know better if you werent such a PS3 hater that PS3 is capable of better graphics than those pics you posted in your thread...

well you can play the AAAAA title NG2 which was stated by lemmings as the Anti MGSIV in june... too bad its not graphically that superior to NGS and has apperantly framerate issue + no story at all + no online i guess...

i'll enjoy my cutscenes along the hours of gameplay and intriguing story + online hours of fun in MGSIV / MGO !!

About 2/3 of the game is gameplay and 1/3 is cutscenes/watching. Wasn't it said to be about 25-30 hours to finish.. Thats about maybe 18 hours of gameplay average maybe. 18 hours is as long if not longer than a lot of games out right now regardless of which system (GeoW, Halo3, Uncharted, COD4, HS just to name a few). I can probably safely assume that most people who get MGS4 will have fun watching the best cutscenes of the year and play one of the best games of the year.

Anyone who is smart enough should know that screenshots is not soppused to be used as a basis of how much the quality of a game's visuals gonna be unless if that game is a slideshow!

Dude u are speaking way too soon man. I agree the graphics aint the best we have seen thus far but to say the graphics arent good with out the game being even out yet is just dumb. Im not expecting the best graphics from MGS4 but I know the game will look good enough and will be awesome. Here are 2 screens from some crappy scans of the game but it still looks pretty good.

Damn just wait until the game comes out and ill get back to u with some screen shots that will blow u away. Anyways this game should be awesome and cant wait to finish snakes last mission because I know when it is all said and done this will be one of the greatest games of all time. :)

NG2? its not my type of game, i wouldn't buy it if were £20.00. enjoy MGS4 if you want, i dont care.

but the thread title is "mgs4 looks awful" which from those pics it does. the question i ask is why would they release such garbage screenshots, if the rest of the game was outstanding?

Well the thread showed some pics for MGSIV which i do agree they dont look that great visually... there is no denying that... but tc used the worst pics he could find to bash MGSIV & the PS3... personally this topic makes no sence at all, because i cannot get 2 -3 awfull shots of 1 game just to bash it, and bash the console on which its being released..

I know many haters use stupid reasons as tools to bash things but most of the time (am not referring specifically to the guy who created this thread, but in general) threads in here end up being ridiculous..

it is funny, when they thought they would get the game they hyped it to the heavens. now they cant get it they like to pretend that they are not missing anything.

I cant wait for this game! Its not the best looking game ever, but apparently it looks great in motion. and te story will be great. bring on the cutscenes!!!!!
