I wouldn't go that far, but it's obvious that Microsoft as a developer does not care about core gamers like Sony and Nintendo. They seem perfectly passive about letting third party devs do it for them.

Bigboi500

Then what is Gears, Halo, or Forza?

Epic and Bungie are not Microsoft first party devs. I have no idea about Forza though.

Microsoft owns the IPs of all three franchises, regardless of the developers.

Epic is 3rd party, Bungie used to be 1st party, and 343 Industries + Turn 10 Studios are 1st party.

also microsoft doesn't develop games, and as a publisher, they don't have a large pool to pull from, Sony has been building their dev's since ps1, and microsoft is still building. 343, rare, lionhead, turn 10 do they own any one else?

Just some Kinect / Windows Phone developers. Rare is a Kinect developer as well.

They might own the Halo franchise, but they don't own the Gears of War franchise, Epic has stated that in the past. Saying those devs are Microsoft first party devs because they colaborated on projects in the past is like saying Capcom is a Nintendo fp dev because they worked on Zelda together. It's just not the same thing.

[QUOTE="IronBass"]The "everything I don't like in gaming is cancer"-mentality needs to stop. For every prodcut ever created there will be people that don't like it, that's why you're free to get something different. It's the nature of things. The Live fee has been well-known since the 360 was introduced to the market, if you don't like it, don't get a 360. It's as simple as that.

Indeed. There marketing strategy with Xbox Live is a huge part of their revenue stream, which in turn helps them sell consoles at a loss at the beginning of their lifecycle. I also foresee Sony doing the same. They see all the $$ that Microsoft is making from it, and Sony has already tested the waters with this PSN+, so I don't think it will be long before they become a player in the "charge for online dept." I love my Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, and I'm glad Microsoft entered the console market. The original Xbox offered up a unique gaming experience and immediately got me hooked, so I'll keep supporting their stuff until I'm not satisfied anymore. Until then haters gonna hate.

rare isn't exclusively a kinect developer they are working on kinect projects right now but banjo n&b was tons of fun, but like i said M$ doesn't have a large pool to pull from, two of their dev's are making full kinect titles at the moment, and two are making full core games, plus one 2nd party full game.

[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="Kickinurass"] It's not a PC, it's an OS. You can install different OS on a PC. If all the resources of the OS are dedicated to the game then you would effectively have optimized use of resources like in a console but using PC hardware and with the capacity to upgrade the hardware. Lets just say PC gaming would probably advance several times faster than it does now because now it depends on basically one company developing an API at their own pace and with their own priorities inside a general purpose OS.Kickinurass

So what? You have two OS, one for gaming and one for general purpose stuff? Both of which would probably at be commercial products?

Are you advocating some open source project wherein each company can develop there own API and develop it in different directions. If anything that just sounds like will lead to needless fragmentation.

i got a ps3 and a wii mostly for gaming but i still use them for other things. Main reason why many hermits buy there rigs is for gaming.

dontshackzmii

You have absolutely no basis for that. Not a single fact to back up your assumption. For all you know every PC gamer in the world could just as likely use Windows for professional or hobbyists reasons, and gaming as a secondary reason.

 facts? really? how do you prove this? i have talked to pc gamers that made a new pc to game on. When they did not need it for anything els. does not mean they never touch it for anything els.

[QUOTE="Firebird-5"][QUOTE="dontshackzmii"]

i went over this already this is just going in in cycles. most hermits already have computers to do every day tasks. they dont need 6 core an ssd and 6 gbs of ddr 3 for fire fox. they spend all of this money FOR GAMING. They can already do everything els.

kuraimen

so your answer to them is to lock out all other functions and give them an OS only for gaming

Which they can have installed apart from their general purpose OS.

Ok, if you think you have such a good idea, make a gaming OS that is better than Windows, requires less resources and runs all the games Windows can run better than Windows itself. Tell us when you're done, and we'll try it out.

the system that least impressed me this gen was the ps3. its a shame i spent so much money buying it and the games sukd pretty badly, and even now i hold on to it because of the blu ray player. I still have to beat uncharted 2...even though i beat unchaarted 1 i cant get into the sequel. Also metal gear solid 4 sukd major ones, i played like 10 mins into the game before i got bored. There was no reason for me to get the ps3 except for the blu ray player....its a shame. I dont have a wii but i will get one to play zelda and super smash.

They've provided me the best OS I've ever used They've provided me some of the best games I've ever played They're the reason the PS3's PSN is where it is at today, and the reason the PS3 isn't a $600 no-game box anymore But the MS hate just keeps on flowin'.
