It's all Microsofts fault..

He is an idiot LOL. He blamed Bill Gates for saying the kid played counter strike. Counter Strike isn't even made by microsoft LMAO.
We've been over this time and time again, ignore the guy, he doesn't know his own mouth from his ass.HoobinatorNeither does the public.
If they find Counterstrike installed in the suspects computer then the FPS gaming industry will be history.kato_
Not quite. What happens if they find movies like "Taxi Driver" or even "Matrix" or "Hard Boiled" is the movie industry going to be history.

thats different because in video games you play as that character...in movies you dont
Oh noez! The million's of people who play shooting games are going to go on a rampage because they are being "trained" to KILL!!
This jack dude needs to snap into reality here, The Cho dude already had mental issues before the rampage you can't just blame interactive entertainment. Hell the game was probally keeping him from killing someone before he got bored of the game!
[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]I thought I was gonna come in and pronounce "In before TL." instead, there's an actual link and a story. But please...nore more Jack Thompson threads.kato_
He had such a look of suprise and relief after reading his hand.

I'm quite prepared to argue that movies influence more than games ever have.
Take Taxi Driver for example, where supposedly John Hinckley jr was inspired to kill Ronald Reagan because of it.
At least he's the only one making assumptions like that this time. Everyone else is whining about gun control. Almost as stupid.
Take away legal use of guns, and people still have all sorts of blades, blunt objects, and of course, their bare hands to kill someone with. OMGZ ban teh hands!!!
You have to admit it's a lot tougher to kill 33 people with your bare hands. At least he's the only one making assumptions like that this time. Everyone else is whining about gun control. Almost as stupid.

Hyper-violent shooter game? Counter-strike is almost tame by today's standards. And since when did Bill Gates have anything to do with it?IAmRodylethey published the Xbox version. they really shold just tone down games or make killing games AO(adult only) after you 18 i don't think you can blame your actions on games though.

And here I was about to report this thread. Phew. :) (LOL, Thompson misspelled "similarly")magus-21
No kidding. It's funny, because here I was about to say "Weak. So not cool. Using the tragic deaths of 33 people as leverage in the fanboy war is a new low." Yet now that I know its Jack Thompson, I'm not surprised. How is it okay for him to trivialize that shooting? If I were related to the victims I would sue his stank ass.

And getting in a car and driving down the sidewalk of a city is easier than pulling a trigger and will probably maim and kill more. Should we outlaw vehincles? No. It is not a gun control issue. It could actually be used to make a case for more lax gun control. If a responsible gun owner with a concealed carrying license was armed in one of those class rooms, the shooter would have had a much harder time. If you could freeze time and put a gun in one of those students hands before they were shot, would you? I hope so.

if alot more people carried guns i can garuntee you he wouldnt have been able to kill 33 people, maybe 5 to 10 max before a kind armed pedsertion killed him.

This is not an American issue. It's world-wide. Suicide bombers have probably killed scores more innocent people.

Keep in mind the difference between M (17+) and AO (18+) is illogically small. Yet somehow, if the threshold for the Mature rating is so acute, why are there so many M games to varying degrees of violence or other content with so few AOs? I don't think I've ever seen an AO game in my life. I really don't understand how the system works. Jack managed to push GTA's rating to AO, yes, but now he seems to imply that he wants the game removed alltogether. He doesn't seem to trust it with people over 18. So is ESRB flawed? I always thought its purpose was to warn people of the game's content to avoid offence, but apparently it's supposed to discourage people alltogether from buying the game, from his logic.

this is the excate reason why i belive in carrying a gun in public.
Another thing I find repulsive about that letter is that he says shooters "train" people. I've logged a ton of hours on a ton of different shooters since the tender age of 9 (Wolfenstein), and not only have I never had the urge to shoot anyone, but I'm absolutely sure if I picked up a real Bullpup I still would have no idea how to even load it, let alone turn the safety off and begin killing people. It's unbelievable that this jerk*** is allowed to make such disgusting statements. He should be held accountable for these types of statements. He should stop using tragedy as a means to an end. He is the scum of the earth.
Sheeps, lemmings, cows. We must all put aside our petty squabbles once and for all, and destroy Jack Thompson!
DISCLAIMER: By "destroy", I mean flame and debunk him at length. No physical harm should come to Jack Thompson. No Jack Thompsons were injured in the making of this post.
Peacebringer he has had that sig for a while now.
Anyway, are we now in a situation whereby if i decided to kill a few people someone would blame it on the fact i play CS or Gears of Halo? It seems ridiculous that people like JT are almost guessing as to reasons why people kill and presenting it as pure fact. I don't know how much this kid played CS but i'm sure it wasn't the game that made him want to kill. I'm sure it was mainly down to the fact that he felt society had rejected him and he was alone. The game may have fueled the fire slightly but it's down to people causing this tragedy. The same story emerged from Columbine with the kids feeling they had been bullied and belittled by the kids higher in the social ladders at schools but the whole thing was blamed on the game 'Doom'.
It just make me so mad to think that people like JT are so narrowminded that they feel they have to launch a vendetta on something we all enjoy. There's not real reasoning behind it, Jacks just a misguided fool.
Did that story say he was a Christian? Funny how ignorant religion has become. I am Christian in my belifs but i don't blame other people for my problems. Friendlyfire53
Religion isn't ignorant. It's the people.
I feel sorry for this Jack Thompson fellow.
And btw, I'm pretty sure the killer was using a Mac.

Giving everyone guns does not instantly make them all responsible law-abiding people. There are people with the capacity to kill out there, and the only thing stopping them is having no access to guns.
I mean... do you realize what you're supporting? Or are you some 15-22 year old male who thinks they know what they are talking about.
