if microsoft owned pc's then i wouldnt be able to install linux and buy dells and all that

if a game comes out on pc and 360 its not a ms exclusive!

edit:

Often, the term "personal computer" is used exclusively for computers running a MicrosoftWindows operating system, but this is erroneous. For example, a Macintosh running Mac OS and an IBM PC compatible running Linux are both personal computers.

Even though this is an obvious fact, many people fail to grasp it.

Those are Microsoft titles, not PC. And for ones like Bioshock, they are multiplatform. Also, what PC game has been "ported" to 360?

The developers, there is no contract while developing on the PC, Microsoft makes a contract with them to place it on the 360 aswell (Same with Sony and the PS3) and vice versa.

i would ask you why so many 360 titles make their way to the pc because pc's have such a large audience...

maybe its that the 360 has sold the most units (so far), so developers are willing to port games onto the 360 because they can make money.

just want to say that pc and 360 dont go hand in hand

A PC is an open-ended system while consoles are close-ended. Therefore you can put whatever you want on a PC. Microsoft doesn't release games for the PC, they release them for Windows which happens to run on a PC. See back when I was young they didn't call them PC's they were considered IBM compatible.

And you can run it on any PC that meets the requirements. Whether it be Intel, Asus, Acer, Dell, Sony, Alienware, etc.

Microsoft doesn't make money off of PC hardware, they only make it off Windows. The 360 on the other hand they have complete control over, unlike the PC where they only have partial control.

Luckyly we have DX9 and the devs just started using DX9 to its potential. However you can use OpenGL, ID has been using it for a while now, its free, and can do all the effects that DX does.

M$ owns the operating system that the game runs off of. Without that O/S the game is useless. Apple (MAC) have their own O/S and if the game isn't coming out for MAC O/S, Linux, Unix, Sun, etc, then yes, it's M$ exclusive. Oh, and M$ owns the XBox 360 and the O/S that runs on it. ;)

ranting? no

but the whole ps and ps2 games argument you have going is completly faulty. the only reason that these games are so called multiplat is because of backwards compatibility. the pc and 360 dont have backwards compatibility. so no according to me youre argument makes no sense. ps exclusives are just that, exclusive. and games that come out on both 360 and pc arent exclusive because there are two different types of machines! a gaming console and a personal computer! and its on both!

C&C 3 was developed on both systems at the same time by the same developer. A multiplatform title.
World In Conflict looks as if it is a port, a port that will be much better on PC.
Two Worlds was developed on both systems at the same time by the same developer. A multiplatform title.

There are very few titles that get ported from PC down these days... mostly because the hardware requirements are jumping again, far beyond the capabilities of the consoles. But then again, a developer could just pull a Doom 3 on the Xbox.

Your whole statement is based on that you don't need Windows to play games on a PC. You don't need a PS, PS2 to play games.

If a game requires Windows it is exclusive. Same goes for 360 and Windows. The game is an exclusive. They are both owned by MS.

so are you saying that in 50 years when all games can be emulated on 1 console we should come back and say that there are no more exclusive games?

crash is psone exclusive. playing it on the ps3 doesnt change the fact that it is not a ps3 game. my whole statment is based on the fact that pc isnt microsoft owned. your argument is not only twisted logic, but it is faulty logic.

if i can buy a game (bioshock) on two different systems then it is multiplat. multiplatform. that means more than one platform. what is the definition of multiplatform:

"In the consumer gaming market, mutliplatform games run on more than one gaming machine. For example, a sports game developed for Xbox, Playstation, GameCube, and PC would be a multiplatform game. If a game is developed exclusively for one system, i.e. "The Legend of Zelda," for Nintendo, it is not multiplatform. Gaming hardware manufacturers use exclusive software as a reason for consumers to buy their system."

http://www.techterms.com/definition/multiplatform

does that sum it up for you? since pc is a system, and 360 is another system, then...using logic...games that come out on BOTH pc and 360 are multiplat.

if i can buy a game (bioshock) on two different systems then it is multiplat. multiplatform. that means more than one platform. what is the definition of multiplatform:

Like I said... You are talking about exclusivity. That is also what I am talking about.

I gave the exsamples of the PS line of consoles. Because they are all owned by Sony.

TC is talking about exclusives.

and you're trying to find a way to say that a multiplat game is exclusive.

A multiplat game on only 1 companies platforms is exclusivity. Yeah it's multiplat but it doesn't change the fact that it is exclusive.

Thats the whole point I'm trying to make.

the pc is not a microsoft platform and what the....?

i hope that was a typo or something...

its not black but it doesnt change the fact that its white.

These 2 sentances go together. That why I put them like that. :P

PC is a platforum and in order to run that platforum you need a OS. (You have to choose.)

lol

if we are both talking about exclusivity it goes without saying that we should use the definition of exclusive. exclusive means that its for one platform only. is pc a platform? is 360 a platform? arent they different platforms? so there we go. if its exclusive to one platform then its exclusive. if its on more than one platform then its not exclusive.

the problem is, you're trying to create a new term: company exclusive. thats just dumb...it doesnt help sw do anything better, its just plain annoying and confundling

That is the definition of an oxymoron. You stated something, then stated something else, in the same sentence, that contradicted it.

An exclusive title is only available on one platform. A multiplatform title is a game available on more than one platform.
