Wow......explain this to me then. I was deciding on whether to buy a 360 or PC. I decided to buy a PC because I like the games better and the features of it. If I did not own a PC, I would own a 360. If that's not affecting the console market, then I don't know what is.

I would just like to point out the fact that Shane Kim does not seem to care if a title is on both the 360 and PC, as he refers to titles such as Bioshock and Splinter Cell: Conviction as "exclusives."

I don't understand why people seem to think that Microsoft loses whenever people support the PC as opposed to the 360. The continuation and broadening of the PC market is great for Microsoft, and although they do not manufacture a lot of hardware, they make money on most hardware sales due to the Windows license that is packaged in most pre-built machines.

And considering the fact that Microsoft is pushing their new "Games for Windows" campaign, I highly doubt they mind if you purchase the PC version instead of supporting the 360. As long as you don't get a PS3 version if there is one available :)

I bought a gaming PC instead of a 360. If I decided not to buy the gaming PC, I would of bought a 360. I don't see how this is such a difficult concept to understand.

But i presumed the Games for windows logo meant the game could only run on windows, correct? So while MS might not own computers the operating system you're using is microsoft. By using games for windows you're supporting microsoft and it's console. I don't really see how anyone can argue it differently. But of course that's just my dim view on it, like i said i don't claim to know much, i tend to avoid pc gaming.

But the point remains microsoft would hardly port things like Halo over to the PC if it didn't give it an advantage or earn it money, it makes no sense that it would damage it's console. The same reason why there allowing viva pinata be developed for the DS, it's going to benefit them somehow.

Anyway my point is, it may not be exclusive but the way i look at it is microsoft is gaining from it, sony isn't and neither is Nintendo and that's all that matters in a "console war".

MS has to pay to have the "GFW" logo put on games. (Is this the eleventh time I've stated this now?). They don't make money off of that game. GFW is pretty much just for marketing Windows. The only requirement a game has to have (I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong) is compatability with the 360 controller. That's about it.

Based upon your assertion there is no such thing as a pure gaming system this gen as even the DS has an optional MP3 player you can buy for it. People have already explained to you multiple times why your assertions are incorrect but I thought I would just point that out again.

Thats like Steve Jobs asserting that the "iPhone is really three devices in one" **** that, you would be hard pressed to find an even moderately expensive electronics device without multiple functions. If you want to go that route I could say my MP3 player (Cowon iAudio 7 8GB) is actually 14 devices in one because it allows me to play

As I can do lots of things on pc => microsoft doesn't owns pc as I already needed xp , even If I do not game on my pc

But the 8800 Ultra I am going to buy would be specifically for gaming and it has has no other purpose beside that. If I buy it now It it would cost more than 360 or PS3. So how can you say my pc is any less oriented towards gaming than 360 or ps3

If Microsoft owns PC gaming, then how come they don't have any control over what content goes onto their operating system? And how come they don't make any money off PC games unless they publish them?

Also, if Microsoft owns PC gaming, then then why do they openly allow games to be played on Linux?

No MS does not own PC, but the PC is not the enemy to MS. I have made a argument to why most lems and MS feel different.

Sonys PS3 on the other hand is a full fledged enemy to MS in this system war. You have admit 360 losing a exclusive to PC is different and is less damaging then losing a exclusive to the PS3. It's not the same. DMC for example, just look how the board reacted when it went mutiplat to the 360, if it went to just PC the reaction wouldn't of been the same.
