[QUOTE="mayceV"]forget that, imagine a mech game with you in the cockpit. that would be amazing. well mech assult is comming. maybe it could be......JonSnow777
Honestly I think it will create a bigger disconnect than actually having physical input.Saying that there is MechWarrior 5 slated for PC and 360 release (MS sold the mech IP back to the former owner of FSA, if it is anything like MechAssault I will be very pissed off), but aside from head tracking motion controls would make the controls much more convoluted and difficult than they already are.
You're not instinctively pushing (one of the many multiple) inputs, or using multiple axis controls, instead you have to visually recognize it, then watch what you are doing to make an input.
Some things sound good in theory much of which doesn't work in practice; which is why I am guessing there has been so little core games, that are much more complex than the simple mini-games shown.
Hell, even with direct input, and physical control things can be horrible, look at Lair.
After playing an hour of MechWarrior Living Legends a moment ago the thought of not using actual physical controls (that mimic the cockpit of a mech) is beyond me.
/mini rant.
Imagine, though, if they integrated motion tracking and voice commands with physical controls though.
Would be cool, but honestly it has been done now. Grab a tracker IR and a headset, and you have something similar. Very cool conceptually, but I am cynical about how it can be pulled off in practice. It's another reason voice controls haven't really taken off. Outside multiplayer games, inputting physical commands is much faster, intuitive and easier to program than voice commands. Still, who knows how it will develop.
