[QUOTE="Benny_Blakk"][QUOTE="Miketheman83"] Like I said last year the Xbox had more high scoring hardcore games than the PS3. This year so far it's tied.I'm not sure what you people don't understand about that. If the Xbox doesn't have any games than the PS3 is even worse because it has less. You guys are trying to win a war that's already over. PS3 lost in sales, games and critical reception. It's over.WilliamRLBaker
First, the PS2 became the highest selling console ever because manufacturing and support continued well after the PS3 was released. Second, there is no expiration on making money. Third, it's already been confirmed that PS3 has already surpassed the 360 in sales, not a projection. Let's not mention that it took MS years to release a version that SONY made standard from the beginning (built in wifi and HDMI). How many 360's were purchased by the same people to take advantage (hence the reason sales of 360 don't really reflect userbase). But the DUMBEST thing you've said is "this gen (7th) is over". I suppose that means you've been getting your "hardcore" gaming on the "720" for some time now? Sorry buddy, but neither company has actually revealed their next console. The only thing that matters is the cash exchange and customer satisfaction. You can log 3 billion hours on Halo and it won't change that fact.
Now say this gen is "over", as you put it. PS3 would be most remember for coming on strong with more and better titles late, being tricky to dev for, but being a piece of entertainment tech of great versatility, value and quality.
360 would be most remembered for having more games early, and the worse failure rate in manufacturing history.
So who really won?
....pretty sure the majority of ps2 sales were made pre ps3. ps3 surpassed 360? link pls lol bububub the 360 didnt have the wifi...and yet the ps3 now ships with no ps2 bc even though they have working software emulation, no slot drive but a top loading flimsy sliding door, no touch sensitive power and eject, 2 usb, and no memory card slots...odd the ps3 downgraded and the 360 upgraded...lol the 360 has superior wireless to boot built in wireless my reach slim gets 3 bars..ps3? like 40% and you can get wireless n with the seperate dongle you cant on the ps3. 360 has higher total sales, more games released, more exclusives, higher rated games, higer variety of games these are facts. sheens winning just aint what it used to be."Pretty sure the majority were made pre PS3"? Pure conjecture, adds nothing to the discussion, and that would change what exactly?
There are MANY links you can search and read on the sales, but MS loyalists don't care to look up information that will force them to surrender their tunnel vision, if even for a minute. Here is ONE
http://www.itworld.com/personal-tech/335129/idc-total-ps3-sales-top-xbox-360
"The estimations by IDC are in line with recent sales figures released by the companies. Microsoft has said that as of September 2012 it sold 70 million units of its gaming device, while Sony has announced it sold 70.2 million. Nintendo sold over 97 million Wii units through the same month."
It is fact that 360 had no wifi NOR HDMI (which is really stupid considering they knew HD was the wave of the future. Kind of "forced" you into having to buy another iteration in the future. "Yay Microsoft". That was "brilliant". Really!)
I still have my original 60gb with full B/C. If you were intent on B/C, you were free to buy those models and still can buy them second hand. B/C is hardly a tech faux pas as excluding a no brainer as HDMI. Outside of that, every single feature you mention are for cost cutting and don't take away from the gaming experience in anway.
As you so elaborately detailed, 360 "upgraded", so the same person bought exactly how many to finally be bought up to speed? It is fact (not opinion) that from a tech and hardware standpoint that MS was playing catchup. So not only has it sold less, but the total sales don't even reflect userbase because millions purchased more than one! Again, fact, not opinion.
And no, 360 does not have higher variety of games. That's a stupid comment because both cover all the same genres.
The icing on the cake: I still have the original 60gb I bought on day one. How many 360's did you go through, either from the RROD (which cost MS about $4 Billion dollars, due to an unprecendented failure rate that you MS suck ups conveniently "forget") or to FINALLY get basics such as HDMI and Wifi?
Well?
