No, they don't. They only dominate the market on operating system software. They don't make PC hardware (except for keyboards and mice). They don't dictate what games get made on the platform. Unless they're a publisher, they see no revenue from the games made on the platform. Theirs isn't the only operating system many games play on. Heck, you can even use programs like Wine to play 90% of all games on MAC/Linux. So how can anyone consider 'for all intents and purposes', the PC is a Microsoft platform?Let me ask you this: where would the PC platform be if MS closed their doors, revoked all licences, and generally there was no running instances of Windows left? They would start making games for Mac and Linux and they would run better. But seriously if M$ business model on operating systems is what they want to see on the console gaming market then console gaming is doomed. M$ aims to monopolize and then release inferior low quality products (ala Windows) when there could be much better quality products on the market with today's technology. So if M$ achieves their console monopoly we can all kiss goodbye to console gaming as we know it, they would become mediocre until another company comes and makes them release something functional (or at least until they make them hide it behind a 3 year warranty fiasco (do you really think M$ would offer that without competition... not!)).[QUOTE="Danm_999"][QUOTE="skektek"]For all intents and purposes they do.
