Let me get this straight: he asked for a source and you provided the OPINION of a video-game ANALYST who has ABSOLUTELY NO RELATION with Epic or Microsoft? Good job.

In other words, you have yourself to blame, then.

Oh, and now since you want to start something, I hope you realize that the Gears of War IP is not Microsoft's, and Epic Games will be making it multiplatform after GeoW3.

Nintendonly

Stop making a fool out of yourself (hahaha). Epic never said that, and I bet your balls it ain't going to remove Microsoft's exclusivity over it.

That is the exact same thing lemmings said about theMass Effect series.

Unless Microsoft owns the IP, it's exclusivity is always going to be questionable.

Mass Effect is a completely different animal because the first Mass Effect was published by MS but after EA bought Bioware they were the publishers so it wasnt MS's decision anymore what happens to the series. Nice try though.

Erm...that doesn't mean anything. Look at all the investment that MS have put in to Gears 3. It's their second biggest franchise, and they're on close terms with Epic.

At this rate, they have no choice but to release Halo 4 in 2012. They're running out of big guns.

It's not a completely different animal. The IP was owned by the developer, not the publisher. The same thing with Gears of War.

Besides, Epic Games has already shown interest in bringing the series to Sony's NGP.

Unless you're implying that Epic is going to be bought out by a big time publisher there is no chance in hell of Gears going multiplat.

They can self-publish, or like what they did with EA, have EA publish it for them.

And as said, if MS pay them loads (like they have) and invest in the series - then it won't. You're now using speculation and assumptions to favour your argument, when really it's all irrelevant. Gears 3 is an exclusive, no need to look in to the future and play guessing games.

Bioware was going to keep it exclusive because they had a close relationship with MS just like Epic has now, but EA wanted $$$ so they forced them to make it multiplat. Epic and MS are close allies; they've done more than Gears they also made Shadow Complex exclusively for xbox as well.

This is System Wars. Either discuss exclusives with a 9/10 or greater score, or get out.

Then why are all these KZ3 and GT5 threads floating around?

So now we're back to guessing if Gears is going multiplat again? Just wait, until it's announced all you're doing is speculating and that's not going to get you anywhere.

No, I never said that. Please understand IPs before posting.

Gears of War is owned by Epic Games, a 3rd party company. This is a fact.

Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, and Demon's Souls are all intellectual properties owned by Sony Computer Entertainment, a 1st party.

The Gears of War franchise, much like the Metal Gear Solid franchise, is going to be multiplatform.

Because a 3rd party developer, such as Epic Games, would like to see more sales than they do because they are tied down due to exclusivity.

So they spend untold amounts of money in manpower and development time by making a version of a game that probably won't sell well. Yeah, that's why they made both currently released Gears titles on the PC. Oh, swoops, sales flopped so massively that Epic was pissed off at PC gaming in its entirety. And yes, I'm sure Epic would be willing to risk the massive amounts of funding and marketing MS provides them for questionable PS3 sales. You're a regular business wiz, sport.

Just like EA released Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, or 2K releasing Bioshock 2 on PS3, despite both games having seemingly wretched sales.

3rd parties can do whatever they want with their IPs. Microsoft has no control over the GeoW series after GeoW3.

Er, Bioshock 2 and ME2 had stellar sells on the PC/360. Where are you getting these "wretched" sales numbers from? And you seem to be under the delusion that developers automatically want to release their games on every platform in sight solely due to not being totally owned by a publisher. Do you have any idea what goes on in a game's development process, or how publisher-to-developer financing works? Again, drop the "you know nothing about IPs" spiel when you're overlooking basic business tactics.

No, what I said is that Bioshock 2 (as well as Bioshock 1)and Mass Effect 2 both sold poorly on the PlayStation 3, but the publishers still went ahead and produced them.

As for the rest of your post- the day will come when you guys will find ways to justify Epic Games going multiplatform with the Gears of War franchise. Hell, there's a reason why Bulletstorm is multiplatform.;)

It will not be an indefinite future for the franchise. Unlike Halo, Microsoft does not own the Gears of War intellectual property rights.

Here is something to help you understand-

Who owns Bulletstorm? Is it EA Games or Epic Games? Once you answer that question, tell me who the publisher will always be for that franchise.

EA is the publisher, who also published Mass Effect 2! I solved the puzzle!!

LMAO, the only things Microsoft hyped up were games that everyone already knew about?

How the hell can anyone be a Microsoft fanboy? It's like being beaten over and over by a spouse- the wife being fat Microsoft and the husband being all of the wimpy Xnerds! Hahaha!

Don't own a PS3 and never will, so no, not an alt of mine.

I never asked who the publisher was. I asked who owns the franchise. So no, you didn't solve the puzzle.

By the way, you quoted the wrong post.

Is this 'who owns the IP' thing STILL being squabbled about? Despite being absolutely brutally, intricately, repeatedly murdered as a line of argument already? :P

I don't see how that is relevant. Epic isn't owned by MS they can do what they want with their other franchises, but they both agree on Gears of War and MS writes them a big fat check and everyones happy.

Looks like there is new armor for Reach.

It's the same armor noticed in this thread a while back, but with a better view.

catfishmoon23
