It's easy to forget they just got like 5 AAA-caliber games in the last 3 months. nuts.Dreams-VisionsI haven't been so busy playing games in quite some time. I think I'm broke now.
I would probably have to research this before you could say this for a fact. There have been some amazing years for the PC.Firelore29
noone really cares about pc gaming anymore..
its getting old and console gaming is just as good in graphics and gameplay now and at a much cheaper price..

I like console gaming as much as the next guy, but there is no way PC gaming is dieing at all, and that rumour needs to be put to rest. Also PCs are graphically superior and gameplay is subjective.
The best gameplay Ive seen in a while is in Rock Band, a console game, but it's hard to compare it to Crysis' gameplay.

200 million pc gamers(accorinding to M$'s own estimation) says you are wrong.Wow, only like 3 games on that list even remotely interest me. I find it amusing that Microsoft has the audacity to present a list of like 8 games, more than half of witch are mediocre or part of fan specific genres and then express the opinion that no one has ever released more quality games in a year. Wow, their stretching things aren't theyInsane00
There has to be somebody that pretends great games aren't great.

Probably people who have ever bought gaming hardware for their computers. Fact is, some of us try it once and then we are done (Myself). I will buy a new computer when I graduate law school...until then, my Dell Dimension XPS gen 5 with teh 3.6ghz P4, 2 gigs of ram, and radeon x850 XT Platinum Edition will have to do.

meh...the world doesn't really revolve around what interests "you"....they obviously can't account for the opinions of everyone, especially people who generally don't like 360 basically just because they own another console instead.
You argue that it's just an opinion, but it's not like there is an abundance of facts available to prove him wrong.

Oh people and your hate, your reading into things. Is Blue Dragon Phenomenal? Or how about Viva Pinata, are you seriously gonna try to spout M$ game superiority with that game? That'd be like Sheep trying to convince me of their superiority with Nintendogs. Yes, Halo 3 is probably a great game, all the reviews I've seen lawd it. I'd like to play Bioshock, but I'm not gonna buy a 360 just to try it. And Mass Effect looks interesting, I'd like to play it, but no more so than Oblivion which I have gotten somewhat bored with. The rest either are mediocre or multiplat. And what if you aren't that enamered with FPS's and Western RPGs? Seems like then your just SOL, or you can play a mediocre game on their system. If I wanted to play a mediocre JRPG I could by Folklore or Enchated Arms, both mediocre games, but on the same level as Blue Dragon.
I'm not saying that this is horrible list, I'm just saying that it seems weird that M$ would make a press release about how 2007 on the 360 is the best year for games in the history of their existence, especially when even the people reporting it question the legitimacy of the statment by citing another great year in gaming, 2005. So, y'all can hate as much as you want, and pretend that I'm dissin' phenomenal games, or you can actually read my post and see that perhaps this sort of behavior from M$ isn't that much different than Sony spouting their propoganda about how many great games the ps3 has, which in reality is limited at best.

Yup. Pretty much nailed it. I find it funny how all the MS fanboys jump on you for disagreeing with MS' propaganda. Not everyone is interested in the games that were offered on the 360 this year. It was great for the 360, but that's not saying much on such a young console.

I'm sorry chaps but you cant just fob all that off with "yeah but they're mediocre games which dont interest me". Nonsense. It's undeniable that that is a stellar list of AAA games to all be released within a couple of months of each other. It's literally more AAA games than most people can even afford to buy.
If none of those "interest" you, for one i'd ask - what the heck does? And second, i'd say at least have the common sense to appreciate that your view is somewhat detached from the norm and therefore it's not incorrect to say that the 360 has indeed had a good year.
As for the likes of Viva Pinata and Naruto, i dont think anyone is saying they're killer apps. I'm fairly sure they're just making a point that there's a variety of games for everyone, including kids and people who like party games.
Maybe, it sure is up there and they left out games like Assassin's Creed and Eternal Sonata (though they are multiplatform).

Yea, these games do for gaming what virtua pets did. I have watched my sister play Nintendogs and you'd learn a lot more by getting a real dog. I mean is this seriously entertainment? How long before they develop the UPS Guy game, or, hey kids, have fun at the washing dishes game, oh and here's a good one, pretend your at work with Data Entry Lite. Am a seriously the only gamer that wants to play games that let me escape from real life rather then lose myself in a simulation of real life. It's like playing the Sims instead of going outside and making real friends.

Hmm, I can get 4 of those games on a ps3, I find FPS's and racing games boring (I have never purchased an FPS), esentially the only thing up there that interests me, again, is Mass Effect and Blue Dragon, but I have already addressed these games. And of the 4, I already have Rock band on my ps3 and I plan on getting Orange Box, even if it isn't quite as good as the 360 version.
Again, however, while I will admit (and already have) that M$ had a good year for games, no one here has yet to convince me that the 360's line up of game releases this year is the best ever in the history of gaming, especially since that is was Microsoft's press release is essentially stating.

I didnt know YOU defined entertainment, i always thought that what i like to do was my entertainment, anyway nintendogs did as much for gaming as final fantasy 8 9 10 did or as much as virtua fighter 5, or as mich as metroid prime , or the 1000th mario kart created, or the 500th WOW expansion or all of those FPS that the 360 has, now that i think about it, nintendogs did more to gaming that those games all put together did... it helped to bring gaming in to the masses, something which quite frankly, i wouldnt mind to see more of
but hey, i guess that opinions are laws now a days... must´v slept during the anouncement of that one

I'm not saying that this is horrible list, I'm just saying that it seems weird that M$ would make a press release about how 2007 on the 360 is the best year for games in the history of their existence, especially when even the people reporting it question the legitimacy of the statment by citing another great year in gaming, 2005. So, y'all can hate as much as you want, and pretend that I'm dissin' phenomenal games, or you can actually read my post and see that perhaps this sort of behavior from M$ isn't that much different than Sony spouting their propoganda about how many great games the ps3 has, which in reality is limited at best.
actually nintendogs and viva Pinata are great games that both nintendo and microsoft should be proud of, viva Pinata is one of the reasons i wanted a 360 (of course there´s the PC version now)
Yea, these games do for gaming what virtua pets did.
Granted, if people want to entertain themselves with virtual versions of life, that is there prerogative. However, if this becomes the standard for new apps because publishers are trying to appeal to a mass market, then I will be done with games. I'm not saying these casual games are abysmal or poorly done, I'm saying they appeal to a different desire and mentality in gaming than that which gamers, save the most hardcore that refuse to experience real life, want to enjoy. GTA, Project Gotham, Halo, these games (which by all rights are quality games) allow gamers to experience something they never could otherwise. This is not the case with games such as Nintendogs. There may be a small fraction of the population that has a similar attitide towards these apps, buy as a general rule these games do little more than to continue to make people lazy and unwilling to really experience life. Cause why experience real life when you can play a pretend version without any of the responcibility or dire consequences.
Further, with America already dealing with an obesity issue, why do we want to promote people sitting on their butts rather than having a real dog, to really take for a walk, and get real exercise. Please Log In to post.
