Not only have they fixed the problem but they implemented a long term warranty program... that's not enough for some people? I'd rather take it all in stride and have a better next generation Xbox...foxhound_fox
We dont know if the problem is fixed at all, thats just fanboy hope at the moment, it runs cooler than it was but doesnt mean the problem has been fixed bigLLL
MS lawyers will get this bogged down in court for so long, it won't be ruled on until the next xbox comes out. Deep pockets.bez2083
The suit cites articles from sources such as VentureBeat and Yahoo! to support its claims.
Taken directly from the article. You won't need to bog it down, if this is the best they can do...
WTF? Ok, I can understand if this was 2006, but seriously - the RROD warranty has been in affect for the past two years and there isnt a single Xbox 360 that isnt under the RROD warranty at the moment... next November, yes - but not now.
As much as I have hated MS for the RROD and faulty hardware this gen, now is not that time to start suing and complaining.
[QUOTE="Lyphe2k"]Good. Microsoft seemed to be ignoring the issue for a while.lawlessx
ignoring the issue? was that sarcasm?
I was gonna ask the same thing.
[QUOTE="bigLLL"]We dont know if the problem is fixed at all, thats just fanboy hope at the moment, it runs cooler than it was but doesnt mean the problem has been fixed foxhound_fox
But to be fair, that 3 year warranty only covers one problem, the RROD, which is a more prominent problem than anything the PS3 or Wii has.
Funny thing is, the article says the litigants are using internet articles for evidence. I'll fear the US Judicial System if a judge is dumb enough to base any settlement based on that. AlphaGamer469
Yeah, you might want to look into things before you spew your fanboyism. This isn't just some random people going after Microsoft to make a buck, this is a huge class-action lawsuit spanning across multiple counties for over a billion dollars.
"Dumb enough", lmfao.

I have no idea how that came off as sarcasm.
But no, I'm for serious. Microsoft, for the longest time, were looking the other way when confronted with this RRoD issue. I even heard they fired an employee for mentioning it. It's great to see that this crises is seeing some light with the new Falcon chip, or whatever, but they were dickin' around with the RRoD problem and I'm glad it's coming back to bite 'em in the ass.

You might want to read the little nugget of wisdom I plucked directly from the article:

So California has to resort to frivolous lawsuits now to make money?

Spending $1,015,000,000 on the issue is 'dickin' around'?

I thought they only spent 1 billion... not 3... ???

I started laughing right there.

You are correct, 1.15 billion to be precise. My bad.
It's cool. Still not "pocket change" though.

Yes and someone earlier said I was being a fanboy when I mentioned this. Throw in Wikipedia , Sony Defense Force and a PS_John thread and you'd have the trial of the year on Comedy Central....

It's about time this happened. Microsoft knowingly releasing the 360 with hardware problems is unforgiveable.

I guess people get desprate for money. But this. Everyone knows there is a chance of the Rrob and they even a have a replacement plan and you get a free xbox back why sue.chaoz-king
No they don't, it's easy to think everyone does because you are gamer. There is going to be a huge percent of people who pick their 360 up from Walmart or Best Buy without knowing what a RROD is.
So now that MS has been sued like Sony was, what other excuse can be used to defend the RROD? Seriously, this should have been done a long time ago. 3 years of warranty is not good enough.Zhengi
Sony lost there lawsuit, we don't know at this time if the lawsuit against the 360 will hold up in court.

sony was sued, and lost.
Microsoft has been possibly sued before this, and it never went to court cause it wouldn't have held up.
This is just another case based on the same problem, that likely wont make it to court.

Seriously, this should have been done a long time ago. 3 years of warranty is not good enough.Zhengiumm, the fact that the lawsuit comes two years AFTER MS addressed the issue, while the DRE problems were never admitted to and nothing was done until AFTER they were sued.
You can always count cows to clutch straws.
