Microsoft thinks rumble is a last-gen feature

wait wait wait wait...So your all getting in a duff because Microsoft said Rumble is last gen, then gave many logical reasons specially with their own work with Haptic feedback...

they haven't removed it...and your putting it on the same level as sony's blunder?

no what we have here is Sony removed it, then tried to justify them selves with the lame rumble is last gen without an explaination of why...then they tried claiming they couldn't get rumble to work with the motion sensing in the six axis *proven false upon the first utterance of the sentence* then finally put it back in.

Microsoft on the otherhand said it was last gen, gave logical reasons, haven't removed it...yeah its not the same thing.

Has he said anything about removing rumble? Or has he just said that rumble is a pretty basic feature and not very important? Now I'm guessing this is because he likes promoting his own product and downplaying it's weaknesses. Nowhere is it stated that Microsoft is suddenly going to remove/stop using rumble.

When this guy walked out on stage at E3 to introduce Kinect, the first thing I thought was:

Rumble is awesome. If they didn't include it in their next-gen controllers I wouldn't buy the system.

Unless Kinect turns out to be the best control scheme ever created and replaces controllers in the next Xbox (hint: I don't think that will happen lol), I doubt this really matters.

So basically, what Microsoft is saying is that instead of your controller vibrating when you get shot in a game, you should feel massive amounts of pain in your chest like you actually got shot. Yeah......I prefer vibrations and painless gaming.

I wonder when consoles will get force feedback? It certainly makes flying an aircraft sim much more tactile, especially when you have to fight the stick to turn against the forces of the wind buffeting the control planes and making them (and the stick) difficult to move. Or trying to wrestle a stick to the right when it keeps pulling to the left because the forces on your ailerons are great.

Rumble doesn't do it for me, either, so I agree with them.

I don't see why people get so mad when a company dismisses something as little as rumble.

I mean, I know Sony's comment was pure damage control and this comment from the MS employee is pretty silly, but still, rumble is not that big of a deal. People need to stop acting like being dismissive of it is some sort of blasphemy.

he is kind of right, some people seem to respond to the games in the way he explains it. I've found myself leaning with the controller or trying to mimic a real motion while playing games.

but I think that response to the games is only temporary. I'd say anyone will adjust to it and sort of grow out of it. nor would I say their Kinect business is really going to capture those people who they think 'want' this type of interactivity. it'll get as old as quickly as it might have taken to adjust to these games that make people want to move with them while playing with a controller.

sorry for the poor sentence structure, seems hard to explain. wonder if I'm the only one who can relate to what he's saying. I know I've adjusted to where I don't try to move with the games. about all to say.

Force feedback is better than rumble. But I don't see how it could be used outside the usual sim genres. Rumble seems to be enough for gamepads.

I never actually cared about rumble or forced feedback to begin with. I always turned them off in games. So his statement doesn't have much impact on me.

Rumble isnt last gen, it makes a huge difference in games, you dont get the same shock or feeling when there is no rumble, your not as involved. Its something so small and simple to do but it makes a big difference, do not get rid of it plz.

It's sad to see how pathetic gaming has become. All started because of the Wii.

I thought Ninty brought the Rumble Pak to the market before Sony had their dualshock? At least that's how I remember it.
