Microsoft to discontinue X1X

Wow the Vita and Wii U lasted longer.

They actually been waiting for a long time to move to next gen so no surprise. But I think with the whole 2020 situation I'm not sure can people afford a $500 console like last gen.

While it's easy to poke fun at the Xbox fans at this point in time... X1 isn't a simple single system... it's an ecosystem. X1, X1S, X1X... they're all essentially the same thing.

If you were to see Sony stop production on the Pro... it would still work with all PS4 software because it's still a PS4.

X1X owners have nothing to worry about as all X1 software will still work with it. The X1X isn't comparable to the PSV, Dreamcast, Virtual Boy, or any other short lifespan system. If anything... the X1X will become a collectors commodity and raise in value quicker than other systems have.

The xboxone has 6 tflops, it's an early 4k system, It has 4 times the power than the ps4 and the ps4 still runs games at 1080p today. It could probably take a decade before the xbox one x becomes obsolete. All they will do is lower the resolution,I mean look at this gen , how long did it take before they were making games at a steady rate that made use of the power of the base ps4 and this with a console that was underpowered at release.

Games with that kind of quality just cost to much money to make and people with older consoles are still paying customers (xboxlive and ps plus) There is no new tech in the new systems that obsoletes previous tech and hasn't been for more than a decade. The new lighting systems with the rt cores can work independent, so as long as the xboxone x has a somewhat viable resolution games will continue to be released on it, or it would somehow has to run into a cpu or ram bottleneck, but the xboxone x is quite powerfull in that regard.

Heck i don't even see the point of the new consoles apart from the same reason the xboxone x was released, and that was give gamers more performance and resolution, the ps5 is probably even going to be more popular , since the ps4 pro is a weak 4k system, but even then the ps4 is still quite performant today, and if they continue to support the ps4 and ps4 pro the ps5 might be dead in the water as well.

NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED ABOUT A NUMBER OF THINGS. Estimates, views and *** packet calculations applies to almost everything when it comes PS5 and SX.

Taking what we know with common sense, this is a wise and obvious move. If baby SX comes in at £$400 or more then it might not be.

The rumoured lockhart is supposedly going to be performing similarly to the current xbox one x, provided the rumours are true, and it launches at a lower price point than the Series X then it makes perfect sense.

If the Lockhart rumors are true this could make sense. So as to not conflict One X and Series S since they might have comparable GPUs and in the case Lockhart's is weaker which could be confusing for consumers. Now, about the SADE I'm a bit surprised to be honest, because I recall they mentioning strong sales of it. However, if Lockhart is all-digital as well, this could be the reason. These guys are clever. Just thoughts.

And never the less you are are going to be left behind period,because that is how the console market has always work,now for MS is not that way because they want to make as much profits as they can to cover the hole the series X will let them profits wise.

That is the reason why MS say for the next year or 2,and not beyond if the xbox one doesn't really held back the series X why not keep supporting it like PC until the end? Oh yeah that is just damage control on MS side to justify having its games on xbox one for 2 years to cover the loss.

The Vita came in december 2011 and was kill in early 2019 it outlived the xbox one X by some margin dude.

I own 3 X’s and even I can admit it was a mistake. More checkerboarding than native 4K, framerates didn’t really improve and the console did nothing to swing the sales race in Microsoft’s favor. Hell, they won a few months with the base Xbox One. I’m pretty sure the Xbox has been in 3rd place the entire lifetime of the X.

Seeing the X at $299 in recent months was wild but telling. If gamers didn’t care about the Tflops with the X, why will they help the Series X? I don’t know who Microsoft is targeting with their consoles and marketing, but it’s gotta be some part of the web that I’m not aware of. Is the Xbox staff just watching DealerGaming’s YouTube videos and thinking they’re knocking it out of the park?!?!??

The sole anticipation of next gen for console gamers is new hardware. People can talk about the games as much of they want but its really the fun of newer hardware and the promise of newer experiences.

Gamers did care but MS messed up at the beginning and by the time the X1X launched it was to late. The 1X wasn't going to reverse the sales this gen and it wasn't supposed to either. That was just fanboy hopes and dreams but not reality.

Not if you think about. Why would they continue to make X1X if the SX base version is going be about the same price(assuming) but more powerful? How would it make sense to keep production going in that scenario?

I never "bashed" the Xbox One X. I disputed the "most games will run native 4K/60" claims that many Xbox fanboys here claimed and echoed. I also questioned the silly marketing and called out all the silly console kids that fell for it. That's all.
