I know the Microsoft first party ain't great, but at least they still put out completely core games for us gamers such as Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Gears: Judgement etc. And then theres the fact it gets pretty much every third party game, some even with sweet deals such as exclusive or timed exclusive DLC.

Nintendo on the other hand have the talent and IPs, yet they're going in a direction that pretty much ignores their core audience. If you forget about the casual crap like Wii Fit and Nintendo Land, they have core franchises such as Zelda that they are openly trying to simplify and make more accessible to casual gamers.

NSMBU it aesthetically awful. It comes across as incredibly lazy, like an up-resed DS game. Nintendo Land and Wii Fit U are complete casual fests. Pikmin 3 is the most exciting, but even that is disappointing with its lack of online. I have a feeling the game will be piss easy to cater to casuals.

They're already making excuses for not including online in a couple of flagship games where it makes sense, on a console where they are trying to push online capabilities. Match that with the fact that they have openly stated they won't battle Microsoft or Sony for third party exclusive deals, and it makes you wonder do they honestly give a crap.

I think nintendo showing the deepest core game of the big three this E3 says at least something good for nintendo's efforts. I will also add that while their games are easy to pick up, they always offer a high level challenge if you choose to. Yes they are more accessible, but at the same time they have a lot of range on the difficulty spectrum. They just need to make the rampant tutorials at the start of their games optional.

Lol no, Nintendo keeps their fanbase happy with it's great 1st party line up. MS just dumbs all over them with only 3 games they are going to start milking every year, and lol at timed DLC, who cares about that crap?

MS and the Xbox just take, that's all it does. Only real focus for the platfrom is Kinect, and it nickels and dimes you too much, paying $60 a year for party chat? WTF? When it comes to games and treating it's fanbase well, the 360 comes in dead last.

Ill just counter shlt like that with NintendoLand, Wii Fit U etc etc.

Its clear they're in a for a quick buck, hence the unpolishing embarassing look to the new super mario game. Zelda is going to be made more accessible, Skyward sword was already dummed down with its linearity. They're lazily making excuses for no online, and already saying they're never going to catch XBL because lets be honest, they don't need to. Casuals will be perfectly happy with their crappy online offerings.

I'm pretty sure he's just trolling, everyone knows that MS doesn't support devs at all.

Plenty of devs have complained and dissed MS for their lack of dev support and freedom like Epic, Valve, Rockstar, even Bungie.

If linearity is the only judge for "casualization," then Skyward Sword is still a much more "core" game than Halo and Gears.

We don't know what Rare are working on dumbass. Last game they made was Kinect Sports but do you think they've just been sitting on their asses since then? I think the reduced focus on Kinect at this years E3 (in terms of gaming) is proof enough Microsoft is balancing out their efforts in casual and core.

So what, those games don't count? This is about which publisher treats their core audience better.

This gen Rare has released 5 brand new core games and 2 Kinect games.

But while we're on the subject, you think Nintendo would let Rare release so many unsuccessful games one after another? Hell no. They would have pulled the plug after the second.

I disagree with you TC. Microsoft only knows to make Kinectimals and more Kinect shovelware. When they think of their core base the only games they announce are sequels to the same IPs (Halo, Forza, GoW).

Kinect Sports 2, entire art staff laid off in favor of contracters/short term staff. Rare is never coming back. Going by Microsoft's E3 conference, they completely forgot what gaming was.

Nintendo is launching a new console and announces 2 new IP's at E3.

Microsoft announces 3 new ones for their 7 year old platform.

Do you expect them to release 10 brand new IPs at launch all by themselves? There are other developers working on games, such as Project P-100 and ZombiU.

I wasn't aware making new IPs on an established platform was hard. But at least Microsoft is finally throwing you guys a bone after leaving you dry for so long.

Who gives a fuk if they arent utilising them? Microsoft has far more then 3 core IPs, but similarly they don't utilise them all (But what they do offer is completely core). Nintendo is on track to make all their IPs accessible garbage to the masses.

Apparently you haven't looked at Nintendo's track record with new IP's on their previous 2 home platforms. Going by that it's unbelievably hard.

How many has Microsoft made themselves (not published) this gen?

Who gives a fuk if they arent utilising them? Microsoft has far more then 3 core IPs, but similarly they don't utilise them all (But what they do offer is completely core). Nintendo is on track to make all their IPs accessible garbage to the masses.

They haven't used F-Zero this generation and...uh, Ice Climbers? Nintendo has core and casual versions of their IPs. Both usually turn out great even if it's done by another team.

Yeah, I guess the fact the majority of the conference focused on core games (1st and 3rd party) completely washed over you.

And I'm sure you'll have fun with Wii Fit U, Ben 10, Family Party, Nintendo Land, SiNG, Just Dance 4, Sports Connection, Your Shape and the rest of the plethora of complete garbage launching on the Wii U.

RR360DD

the difference is nintendo has more than three core IP's under their belt :| Dear god why aren't you delusional lemmings seeing this?

Who gives a fuk if they arent utilising them?

Mario, zelda, pokemon, and kirby have all been utilized consistently.

Metroid is on hiatus after the other M. Rumors are retro has something in store for it.

They even bring back older IP's like Kid Icarus and Punchout.

Meanwhile MS has JUST the trifecta. For everything else it's either kinect shovelware or timed DLC for multiplats.

Thats been the trend for the past few years and going by E3 it's not changing any time soon

lol, you've got to be kidding. Lemmings get either Forza, Gears, Halo or Fable every year as of late. Atleast Nintendo makes an attempt to juggle around its franchises. Nintendo even revived a franchise from the NES days.

Internally, like Nintendo's EAD teams. If you count just those, I'm pretty sure Microsoft hasn't made much. If you count published by Microsoft from MS owned devs, then Nintendo has had plenty of those too, especially if you count handhelds.
