Yes they are simple thats why I posed them.

Its more than a small sales spike. Due to the economy you're going to see the 360 selling well vs the PS3 because people will go envitably for the cheaper option when they are in a pinch. I would like to see your non-vgchartz figures for the yearly sales of both consoles. Right now I'll predict a big difference in the sales for the 360 & PS3 coming into the holidays. 2&3 are linked but you don't really get it.

It doesn't matter whats in the PS3, its what people see as what they can afford and what is desireable. I bet alot of people that buy the consoles have very little understanding of what they are buying.

However, back to the question as to why Sony cannot drop the cost of the PS3 right now. Simply put they cannot afford to. Manufacturing and other costs mean that every PS3 is still selling at loss, but thats not really the issue. The relative strength of the dollar and euro vs the yen mean that its very expensive for Sony to export the PS3. Combined with the global economic issues, and the general slowdown especially in the electronics industry, Sony is finding itself in its own credit crunch. Fanboys can scream all they want about just wait until next year's price cut, but I'm telling you right now its not happenning any time soon unless conditions dramatically change.

Why haven't sony cut the price of the ps3?  For one if they did cut the price of the ps3 without lowering the cost of the production of a ps3 they would than be losing money.  Thats why they are making a 45m chip and blu ray players are starting to drop into the low price range.  Than they can lower the price... imagine you own a business you can't ALWAYS price cut.

The biggest reason is that average consumer isn't very smart when it comes to eletronics...They see $199 as a bargain and fail to realize that WOW I need something to hold the patch for my favorite game, so Mr.Cheapo runs to bestbuy and forks over another $100 for a HDD, thats after Mr.Cheapo already had to fork over $50 per year just to play online. We will not even go into product reliability and Blue-Ray HD movies considering Mr.Cheapo is still playing on a SDTV.

Microsoft is very good at conning consumers, just look at their Vista commercials.
