ok then, how do u feel about this? do u think ms had the right to force epic to charge u money so they get that fair share of that money too? do u really think ms needs it? are they that money hungry?

Yes...and so is Sony...and so is Nintendo...they're businesses, profit-mongering didn't start with Microsoft.[QUOTE="chester706"][QUOTE="GermanShepard06"]the latest news about ms forcing epic to charge fans money for free maps is just downright sad, if i was a x360 fan i would sell it the next day and i would send a letter to bill gates and tell him thanks for nothing.

The question is why do you care? It's not like you have a X360 or something and with all the games coming out for X360 i doubt nobody is too worried about a few maps.[QUOTE="GermanShepard06"][QUOTE="chester706"][QUOTE="GermanShepard06"]the latest news about ms forcing epic to charge fans money for free maps is just downright sad, if i was a x360 fan i would sell it the next day and i would send a letter to bill gates and tell him thanks for nothing.

nothing compares MS when it comes to profit-mongering.
did u know that ms is controlling all desktop pc's hardware? they dont want anything new to come until they approve it first, and before they want their fair share.
do u really believe that dx10 cant be done without windows vista?
OP your just wasting your time, shills and fanboys are just gonna spin this. They dont want free stuff. They want to buy them because M$ has a right to do it. M$ is a multi billion company so obviously its okay for them to be greedy and milk their customers.
oh lems your gonna need this:Â
You know, this sort of thing happens all the time in the business world; between the developers and their publishers. However, I believe that Epic was probably forced to lay it out in the open and to an extent, I agree with you, GermanShepard, that what Microsoft is doing is starting to anger me quite a bit.
I support xbox Live, it's a great service and I don't mind paying for it but all this microtransactions crap on top of the service price is just too much, imo. I can understand from a business perspective, considering the huge fanbase, that having the new Gears of Wars maps for a price can be a profitable move. But come on...Microsoft's acting like they're alone in this competition and incidents like this are gonna bite them back in the ass. Somehow, I'm hoping Sony would take advantage of this situation just to let MS learn their lesson.
Â
Do you work for a living? Do you work for free? Nintendo charges $250 for an obsolete console, $60 for the controllers, and $10 for VC games. The profit margin on these 3 products is nearly 300% when all is combined. Sony loses money, and Microsoft brakes even on the consoles. Sony and MS have to make money on the high-tech games. It isn't an option for them.the latest news about ms forcing epic to charge fans money for free maps is just downright sad, if i was a x360 fan i would sell it the next day and i would send a letter to bill gates and tell him thanks for nothing.

So you think none of Sony games(the few there are) won't even charge for maps at the SOny store? Guess again.
Just like Capcom stating that DMC4 could only be done on the PS3's hardware... companies change their tune mighty quick whenever they see dollar signs. D0013ER
dmc4 is not using the ps3 hardware to its fullest at all, they just dont have that money right now, but im glad they will get that money from x360 users when dmc4 hits x360.
the next dmc should have the ff13 or mgs4 visuals.

if the devs want to charge then its up to them but to have ms force a dev to charge money is just dowright sad, get the point now?
i actually wont care if Epic went out there and wanted money for the extra maps but for ms to force epic to do that is a different story.

Gears isn't just a Epic game, it also belongs to Microsoft Game Studios, I guess you didn't know that -Â Now you do.

That's not what I'm saying, obviously it'll happen sometime (I wouldn't mind, anyway, considering that PSN is free). What I'm trying to say is MS isn't really in a desperate position such that it would force Epic to put a price on the new maps. Because, this is becoming a really annoying trend...paying extra over what we already frickin payed ($60 + XBL service); isn't that enough? I didn't mind paying for those; neither the XBLA games, but for even extra stuff that were already promised to be free...Yeah, it's simply "milking"....I'd start considering who's really the "cow" this generation.[QUOTE="GermanShepard06"][QUOTE="Fruity_Fantasy"][QUOTE="kankthetank"]You know, this sort of thing happens all the time in the business world; between the developers and their publishers. Sorry Lems, M$ is truly giving you guys the royal shaft. This is how M$ does business. Make you buy their product, than shaft you on stuff you want. Kinda like Windows XP and having to buy "MS Office" to have Word, etc.SergeantSnitch
People , not lems or whatever you want to call them make choices whether they want to buy something or not. People bought the 360 cause they wanted to play good games with a good online service, you people that are into the Sony only bought that piece of crap cause you want your FF and MGS that won't be out for what another year? And the games the Ps3 have coming out look like trash compared to the 360 line up.
To sum it up, people with a 360 are more gamers than people that wasted money for a cheap Blu-Ray player with so- called potential, potential my ass. The 3DO and the NEO GEO had potential - get a clue.
a) I don't have to buy the maps b) Even if they were free, I wouldn't be highly interested in them anyway. Not with Mass Effect coming just around the corner. I'm not the biggest Xbox360 supporter but even I wouldn't use this to taunt Lemmings. It's insignificant in the grand scheme of things.the latest news about ms forcing epic to charge fans money for free maps is just downright sad, if i was a x360 fan i would sell it the next day and i would send a letter to bill gates and tell him thanks for nothing.

Considering how far out of the way you go to try and stick it to the 360 I'd wager you don't own one either.[QUOTE="SergeantSnitch"]Sorry Lems, M$ is truly giving you guys the royal shaft. I actually haven't bought a PS3, although I will in the future. The PS3 has much more games I enjoy than any other console. Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Socom 4, GT5, MGS4, FF13, FF13VS, God Of War 3, Ratchet & Clank all disagree with you. If you enjoy the 360 and it's games, that's fine. Just don't bash the PS3 and it's awesome line up of games simply because you dislike Sony.Look at the thread, no one is saying they necessarily like the fact that MS is forcing Epic's hand with the new content, but it shouldn't surprise anyone that they want to make money off their top-selling franchise. If you feel that strongly about it then the best way to stick it to MS is to, you know, not buy it...D0013ERI think we all understand that; however, if we stay quiet everytime something like this happens and accept paying for this, it'll only get worse. Sure, we have a choice but if we just ignore this, what can we expect next? Short games (being sold for full price) having "extra" levels as downloadable content for a price. MS is already getting payed by their sponsors with all the advertising on XBL? I mean, they're getting money left and right now and for them to start forcing devs to put a price on extra content that would otherwise just be free, it's just milking.

People have a choice to buy something or not, if you don't like MS don't use windows, don't play your Xbox and sell it , therefore not buying anymore games and supporting it.
Sony doesn't stick it to you with hardware? They have TVs, stereos, phones and they own half the movie industry. The only thing I see MS intervening with is computers and games, I could give a rat's ass about MSNBC or other ways MS makes profits.
I love my 360 and I don't get milked cause I choose what I buy, maybe you are one of those people that have to buy everything or have someone buy everything for you. I don't know your situation. Gears was one of the best games to come out in a long time and I got my money's worth and have no regrets.Â
P.s. I wasted more money on SOny hardware than MS products. I bought walkmans that broke and Stereos that broke. If this TV I have that is a SOny breaks I will never touch a SOny product again. I also have a Sony Ericsson phone that is way too low in volume and I can't wait to get a decent phone.
