So Resident Evil is pretty much confirmed doomed. I believe 6 reached beyond 3 million maybe even 4 at this point. But then it goes both ways because here is something lolcom dod not think about. So you put RE4 on the PS2 because the GC version was not selling but you did not put REmake on the PS2 because the GC version is not selling? There is some fish in this puddle here. Putting RE4 on PS2 will generate more sales while REmake on PS2 most likely won't. And your basis for that statement is...? Should have paraphrased it to "probably". That's just my guess. Why else would Capcom not have done that if REmake can make tons of money from another platform? Were they still bound to that exclusivity contract with Nintendo after porting RE4?Mikami series creator If the GameCube-exclusive Resident Evil remake had sold better, the series may never have become so driven by action. Series creator Shinji Mikami, formerly of Capcom and now working on The Evil Within at Bethesda-owned Tango Gameworks, told IGN it was a natural result of broadening Resident Evil 4's development. If you want to keep a great horror game franchise, you have to work with people who really like horror games. If you bring in developers from other places, youre going to end up with a more action-oriented game," Mikami said." With Resident Evil 4, I intended to make more of an action game--5 and 6 were outside of my responsibility, of course--but with Resident Evil 2 and 3, that wasnt necessarily the intention I started with. They just naturally became more like action games. With Resident Evil 4, he changed his primary goal from scaring the player to making the game fun in hopes of reviving the series' sales. It worked.
[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]Okay, now that spawns another problem right there. Throwing out a remake and a prequel in the same year and a couple months. Surely not cramping things at all. I'm not sure what the problem there was? RE0 got no hype, and wasn't expected to do well. REmake did, and was expected to do well, and ultimately it didn't do as well as Capcom wanted. You're just creating problems where none existed. How was REZero not expected to do well when it's still a mothership title with a BIG name?[QUOTE="Jakandsigz"] It was the same year and a couple months later though.charizard1605
How is releasing two mainline games in one year only months apart, one a remake, the other not, no problem?

Of course, after Resident Evil 6 bombing, I'm assuming the action game route is out for Capcom too? So if Resident Evil can't be horror, and it can't be action, what will it be now? Puzzle? I swear I heard Capcom bragging about RE selling around 5 or more million.[QUOTE="Jakandsigz"] It was the same year and a couple months later though.charizard1605
RE 4 was released on a much more popular console whereas REmake wasn't. Of course it wasn't going to sell as well. Anyway, the way the series has gone now, they should reboot it or put a bullet in it. A game like RE 6 should not be allowed to disgrace the series like this ever again.
Drake sucks!Hoznary
Nope!
I don't know who Master Ace is
Nobody does but Lumpy. Drake started from the bottom but MA is stuck at it.Â
but Drake, Lil wayne and the entire bird gang is the worst thing that has happened to the rap industry the only thing good out of young money is Kendrick Lamar.
I'm pretty sure oil and water don't mix.Â
REMake was on the Gamecube, people dont typically buy Nintendo consoles for horror games. RE4 was on one of the most successfull and popular consoles of all time. REMake was a much better game than RE4. RE4 was simply in the right place at the right time. I played and enjoyed every singe Resident Evil game until RE4 which was so boring that I couldnt bring myself to finish it, and then around 2 hours of RE5 which was complete garbage. I never played RE6, why would I want to?

Â
Drake didn't start from the bottom tough, he was an actor and his mom was a teacher, not a tough upbringing, especially if you are living in Canada. Also, you obviously are 12 years old if you don't know Masta Ace.

It's Nintendos fault yet again.Jack-Burton
No, its mikamis fault for making RE4 so action oriented. He is just trying to make it seem like nintendo is to blame, although how exactly Ill never know.
He remarks on the series not being about horror as a negative, yet he made a resident evil game that was about action and not horror.
Yet RE4 is the best in the franchise and one of THE best games around.Â

I prefer the psx era games. But yes RE4 is a great game.
No. RE4 was a GC exclusive and got move (only at the time) on the PS2 to get more sales. THe real logic is why not do the same for REmake?RE 4 was released on a much more popular console whereas REmake wasn't. Of course it wasn't going to sell as well. Doesn't matter if it was tough or not. We all start from a place that was not where we are now. And my age is irrelevant when your grammyless Master Ace most recent greatest accomplishment was making the 24 most overlooked emcees of all time list.

"5 and 6 were outside of my responsibility, of course" And that is why they were not even close to 4 in quality. "With Resident Evil 4, he changed his primary goal from scaring the player to making the game fun in hopes of reviving the series' sales. It worked." So true. Resident Evil games weren't even scary once you turned 11.tagyhag
I wouldn't say they're not scary, but they are way overrated. Grantd, REmake is genuinely creepy and has a simply superb atmoshphere, but I never found myself really scared or even creeped out by the other games.  I like them as much as the next guy, but the sci fi aspect really took away form it for me. Supernatural aspects of horror stories are about a million times more effective IMO.
woah woah...so lets get this straight basically as a test capcom released a remake of the first resident evil with no advertising on the lowest selling console, then released RE4 with lots of advertising on the lowest selling console and then released it on the highest selling console and they are pissed and felt the need to change the nature of the franchise because the survival horror game sold badly and the action game didn't?

Yes that's the weird part. 4 sold like 1.5 million on GC and got ported to basically everything after that. REmake sold like 1.3 million and got buried.
What the...? I am someone who jumps easily by even the cheapest trick ever done but RE4 didn't make me jump. It is a good game, but it lacks any kind of horror.RE4 is nothing like RE5 or RE6, this delusional moron doesnt know a damn thing about his own franchise. Â RE4 was actually horror and had times of terror.

There were a few moments that were creepy, like the small prison area near the end of the game but yeah it wasn't terribly creepy.
I'm done with Capcom, the don't know what they're doing.Â
I hope they bankrupt and sell their IPs to a compitent dev.

Do you only like Drake because of his looks? Or do you enjoy is entertainment?
Nah, I got it for PC. The only problem is that it was a straight port, no changes whatsoever. No mouse aiming or anything. But, even with a good controller, the game was awful. You couldn't even move and shoot at the same time. I don't mind games that require a controller, and I love my consoles games, but Resident Evil 4's controls were just awful. I would rather a Resident Evil 2 type game any day of the week...of-course it wasn't going to sell, it was a GameCube exclusive! Â -__-

Lets face it. Compared to its main rival at the time, the Silent Hill series, was Resi Evil ever that scary? I don't find RE2, the best in the series in my humble opinion, to be that much scarier than RE4. And i fuking LOVE RE.
Resident Evil games weren't even scary once you turned 11.tagyhag
shit, you must be one tough broad/dude because the original resident evil scared the hell out of me when i was 11.
anyways, REmake takes a big, steaming shit on RE4. it's sad to see what the series has devolved into.

To be fair I think Resi Evil should try and strive to find the balance between pew pew pew and thinking. Some of the puzzles in the old school RE games were a bit ridiculous for me.

Yeeeeeah. That's like many old school survival horrors. There's a fine line between "challenging" and "obtuse" for a puzzle and many of RE's were pretty obtuse.

Find the eagle key and use it to unlock the door to collect the bust of Chief Irons to throw at the cabinet window to get the precious gemstone to unlock the big red door etc etc.
Almost adventure game logic. It made even less sense in RE2, why would a police station have such an insanely weird layout haha

Yeah lol I played RE2 with my dad a while back and the entire time he's like "why the hell is this police station so complex?"
That's why I like the Zero Escape games. They are adventure games, but their puzzles rarely ever feel obtuse. Â Most of the time they are very logical with well place clues.

Zero escape is the series that 999 and Virtue's Last reward belongs to.
