[QUOTE="mjarantilla"]Yeah and GRAW and R6V happen to be the best in the series, yes better than Rogue Spear. You dont know anything about hardcore games, you play Kidtendo, and you are just a naysayer like the rest, OMG OMG I LIKE TEH CRAP INNOVATIVE CRAP BECAUSE TEH PC IS TOO G00D FOR CONSOLE LOL!No results? In twenty years of gaming, I've never seen a single video game console make it to mainstream, international coverage from every media outlet. Sorry, but you must be blind if you can't see the movements under the surface at work already.
And console style games ARE casual. Sorry if you're so brainwashed by MS/Sony's flashy advertising and MTV promos (LOL), but console games have been casual since the PS1/N64 generation when games stopped being about IF you beat a game, and started being about WHEN you beat a game. Just play Rainbow Six Vegas and GRAW and tell me those are not casual. Or Gears and Halo 3.
WuTangG
LOL, only a CASUAL would say that GRAW and R6V are the best in the series. They might as well be on-rails arcade shooters compared to the TRUE originals. In-depth mission planning, fully customizable load-outs, permanently lost teammates if you got them killed on a mission, fully open ended levels, one-shot-kills.
No true PC gamer would ever say that the series has improved, especially not with R6V. It's lost so much depth that they shouldn't even call it Rainbow Six anymore.
[QUOTE="WuTangG"][QUOTE="mjarantilla"]Console can share PC games, but console also has games that you wont see on PC, like fighters, racers (console style anyway), JRPGS and more. While yes some games have been made a little more streamlined, games havent gotten worse, only betterThe only hardcore games nowadays are PC games (on the traditional side) and Wii games (on the new side). The Xbox 360 and PS3 have done more to destroy gaming than the Wii has. The Wii is simply embracing the inevitable new status quo and doing what consoles should have been doing for the last decade and a half: separating itself from the PC and growing into its own industry, rather than sinking its fangs into PC gaming and dragging everybody down like what the PS3 and 360 are doing.

Kidtendo, well i like your outlook, but just like every other Kidtendo fankid, its all delusion, sorry mate, no proof, only proof AGAINST you. Oh well i have a gaming PC, but i take a while to upgrade, i like having a $300 machine filling in the gaps, you sheepkids just want to destroy everything dont you:lol:
Fighters, racers, and sports games can stay on consoles. Those are casual games, through and through. JRPGs have been on PCs, but they are simply outclassed by PC WRPGs. Or rather, they used to be outclassed, until Morrowind and Oblivion (both Xbox/360 games, too, not coincidentally) took the standard for PC WRPGs and sent it into the trash heap.
And console gaming SHOULD be destroyed so that it can be rebuilt, brand new with a proper style and structure of its own rather than the half-breed hodge-podge it currently is that borrows the worst from casualized PC games, outdated Hollywood action movies, and MTV music video rejects. The Wii and DS will rebuild gaming the way it SHOULD have been, before the PlayStation and, especially, the Xbox hijacked it and filled it with worthless marketing and advertising.
WiiSports is the PONG of the new generation.
Fighters, racers and sports games are casual games? You sicken me seriously never put down a genre no matter how much you dislike it, saying what you said suggest that there is little skill involved in all the games that come under those genres. I cant speak for sports games but the skill involved in racers and fighters justify it not to be casual (the fact you call them casual somewhat refelects your skill in those genres) also is it just possible that some genres work better on consoles such as fighting and racing which I imagine is why your putting them down as for the wii yeah its own market definetly but I see some irony here. From some console gamers perspective the wii is destroying gaming while some pc gamers think consoles full stop are destroying gaming, I see the only reason you improve of the wii is because it does not encroach on what you percieve to be pc gaming teritory :P But whatever next big game industry changing thing that comes after the wii is, all the wii gamers will be saying that thats destroying gaming I reckon :P

You can be a hardcore fighting game player and a hardcore racing game player, but that doesn't make you a hardcore gamer. My old roommate played nothing but sports games, to the point where I had to drag him away from his Dreamcast to go to class. But he definitely doesn't consider himself a hardcore gamer. That's my point. These genres develop their own audiences that frequently do not care about any other type of game, even more so than other genres like shooters and action-adventure games.

Fair enough man as long as your not saying the genres have little skill involved in them. Im off the personal belief that you can play as much video games as you want and you can even be really skilled but there is always other criteria to fill before I personally would exept that person as a hardcore gamer though it tends to be that everyones criteria is different but theres usually some things in peoples criteria that are always the same.

Of course they're more "fun" for you: they made them simpler so that people like you could actually play them! They took out everything that required any kind of thought or effort on the part of the player, and made it so that you couldn't even die unless you stood out in the open for ten seconds!
As for review scores, standards have fallen over the last ten years. The original Rainbow Six (8.0) was released the same year as Ocarina of Time (10.0), Grim Fandango (9.3), Baldur's Gate (9.2), StarCraft (9.1), and a host of other amazing games. It's no wonder it got a comparatively low score, once you look at the scores they used to give out back then.
Hell, according to review scores, Rainbow Six Vegas is equal to StarCraft. To that, I say, HAH!

How did I miss this thread (dam offtopic) well for all your myths I offer you a genuine reason which Im sure you have heard been made by now but still for those of you who haven't heard: As platformers go SMG is overly easy and that is why I would suggest to anyone who is reasonably experienced in platformers not to bother, seriously I just did'nt feel I got my moneys worth due to the lack of challenge I mean sure its fun and everything but things get boring when they stay too easy for too long. I see how its a great game for its audience but personally the lack of difficulty just ruined it for me.

If you think SMG is too easy than you haven't gotten 120 stars. One of the stars in particular took me almost an hour to get. Some of the other stars took many, many tries to get. And I'm an experienced gamer who found SM64 to be a breeze.

Fair enough 100% it to a casual gamer would seem like an impossible accomplishment. See what I think nintendo are doing is maybe there plan is to kind of ease in the casual gamers then as the games get more difficult alot more people become hardcore and then gaming finally gets the recognition it deserves as a major media because ultimately that would make nintendo more money then just throwing there hardcore fans to the side right? Also then once again they would hold the nostalgia merit they've had with previouse generations for another generation but with even more people. So what do you think or is that just too good of a business plan for them to come up with? :P

It sounds like they are doing something different, but they are doing the same things they have been doing for the past 100 years...getting people to play games and at the same time making them nostalgic so it will be their games they remember and not their competitors.

and everyone elsewill enjoy mario galaxy for what it is. if you have anything different to say, go talk to Alex Navarro. And pretty much everyone else on gamespot who agreed galaxy is game of the year. if you dont like their choice, why are you on gamespot then?

We all know why we are here.
This is a great forum.
It has nothing to do with the site the forum is on.

ok seriously wahts your problem? do u just like going on game forums and bashing cosoles and games youve probably never played? is that fun for u? do u get enjoyment out of that? if true then i feel sorry for u that u have nothing better to do with your life then go "wii is teh suxxors:lol::lol::lol:" all day long. its people like u who make gamers look like people who have no lives. why dont u just be silent, enjoy your games, let us play our games, and GET A LIFE.[QUOTE="nintend-man86"][QUOTE="Willy105"][QUOTE="nintend-man86"]lemms will be lemms

[QUOTE="Captain_Waffles"]Gotta disagree on the graphics part, very jaggie (like Halo 3 amount of jags). Other than that this thread is dead on. (Yes I've played the game).Willy105
Jaggies?
That's all?
That's like complaining there are ridge lines on an ice cream.
I'd say its more like pointing out that there's freezer fuzz on ice cream, yuck!

It's still nothing.
It doesn't bother me.

(Yes I've played the game).legend26I almost never saw jaggies:?I only saw it when i was watching the Cutscenes, and also when I played on my Grandmothers new HDtv because my Uncle bought her it and they asked me to bring the Wii there but if he knew I had a 360 he would of asked me to bring it since he didn't bring his 360.
I just wanted to third or fourth that this was a great thread. Another tension in gaming is between Japanese and Western games, and SMG is zen-like where the story is irrelevant. I do like zen-like games, but maybe not everyone does.
The only criticism I relate to is that someone said they'd like to see Miyamoto create a completely original Wii-mote specific masterpiece, but that's not really fair to SMG, and the point kind of failed when they said maybe Wii Fitness would be the game. :)
[QUOTE="WuTangG"]GOTYFact: SMG is all you kiddies will ever get and so will hang onto for the next decade. Yeah i know, PS2 sucked, it only had no exclusive GOTYs!
Wii fankids = OWNED
Now go play your sales:lol:

Yeah, doesn;t it feel great knowing that our kids games beat out all the ones for supposedly mature people ;)
No clipping huh?...

These are major glitches to me...
Yeah, SMG is a great game. But it has clipping glitches and it does even have some pop up (not very noticeable though obviously).
