Miyamoto Teases New Metroid Prime Game

Metroid Prime was easily one of the greatest games of that generation, and it's sequels are of similar quality (although not considered as classics in the same sense). I'm sure they would hold up just fine, especially if an "HD collection" of the Metroid Prime trilogy came out. 

Super Metroid is one of the greatest games of all time. 

With so many first person shooters coming with tremendous quality like Destiny , BF4 , Titanfall and many more ... I cant see how Metroid on a low end hardware will do good. It will need to push level design to another level since gameplay wise ...its just a shooter. We will see

Prime is not your "regular" FP shooter, tho.

It has well-expressed exploration and adventure elements.

I say it's worth it since they have never released a game less than stellar at this point. The original Prime is easily one of the greatest action adventure games ever made and its sequals are fantastic then there's Donkey Kong Country Returns which deserves to be hailed as one of the best platformers ever created.

No matter what this studio does, I will keep an eye on them and another on Rocksteady... These guys are at the top of this industry right now as far as I'm concerned.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were both amazing, but 3 was weeaker in comparison. That and the story ended at Prime 3 anyways. The only reason I would really want another Prime-esque game to be made is if it were on the Wii U; to see how great the game would look in HD. Outside of that, I can't say I want another Prime-esque game that much.

I'd rather they take the series back to its roots or do something new with it at this point.

Imo, this should have been their first WiiU game.  It would have looked great and probably would have made great use of the tablet.  It also just seems like the obvious choice since Prime (or at least that style of Metroid) has had a long hiatus.  I'm sure it would have generated much more hype for the console than the new DKC.

I'm down for anything that Retro makes so I'll definitely be getting the new DKC, but I think a new Metroid would have been a much better choice.

Yeah, that could be awesome. The last time we had a 2d Metroid was with Zero Mission, and that was a LONG time ago. We are long overdue for that kind of Metroid.

They need to get some games on their Wii U if they want it to survive. I plan on picking one up sometime....I generally get all the consoles (not sure about the X1 though)...but so far the library is lackluster.LJS9502_basic

If there is anything good left in the world, Metroid Prime will see another release with quality on par of the first Prime game.   Praise based Miyamoto and Retro.

Why not EAD make Metroid 5 for 3DS and Retro Prime 4 for Wii U?

There would be a high-quality side scroller for 3DS(&2DS) and high-quality adventure/FP shooter for Wii U, making good use of the GamePad.

Compared to other Nintendo franchises, Metroid does not sell very well, so I think it would be a much better idea to make a 2.5d side-scrolling Metroid that plays like Super Metroid but with the same 2.5d graphics style as New Super Mario Bros. I'm sure this would be quicker to develop, cost much less to make, and sell better than another Metroid Prime game, so it would be much more profitable for Nintendo. Plus, it would be something that hasn't been seen on a console in a very long time.starwolf474

Nintendo has an arsenal of franchises, only a handful of them (Mario Series, including spin offs, Pokemon, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Wii-Series...ect)  Sell incredible well.  Most other Nintendo franchises like F-Zero, Ice Clibmers, Wario-Ware...ect do not sell as strongly.  Metroid sells much more than those series do, but not as well as there most known franchises.  

And I so badly want another Metroid game but I am not so sure how I feel about a Metroid Prime 4...

I couldn't agree more! Retro Studios should be the only ones working on that game anyway in my opinion. The only thing I ask is that there's plenty of voice acting in the game for everyone, including Samus herself. Because after playing Other M, I really can't imagine her without her own voice and personality anymore.

EAD Doesn't make Metroid games, also like what Foxhound_fox said, Retro is capable of making 2D side scroller games. Heck, they can probably progress the Metroid series better than Sakamoto can. Also, Metroid is a type of series that is better cater to the West than Japan, so making it more like Other M, is asking for the game to fail out here.
