Notice some people in this thread were saying modded Crysis or GTAIV looked better? It is because this kind of thing is not weird on PC.
PC does not have bullshots. :|
Its really a shame that the flagship franchise to represent this amazing engine has just been turned into another "shooter."foxhound_foxWhenever I see the really impressive Cryengine shots, I always wish a game in the Elder Scrolls series could look like that. We would certainly need better rigs for such a mass scale game, but I hope one day it happenes. :P

The screens above aren't even Cry Engine 3 at its full potential.
DICE is Sweedish, the country which made Volvo.
Crytek is German, the heart of the engineering world.
Go Figure.:P
And both countries have the best looking women :D
DICE also brought the first DirectX 9-only game, which has gun models that are up-to-pat with today and sometimes even better. Pretty much everything except environments held up really well in Battlefield 2 IMO, especially those textures. DICE has always done that exceptionally well.
Crytek murdered Crysis IMO, so I don't care that much anymore :P
I agree about Swedish women, but not German women. They don't shave under their armpits! ;PFor the sake of discussion, who laid down that law?you can not make a game a graphics king because of Mods

I disagree. Graphics potential with or without mods are the litmus test.
OT: looks great, but the levels are linear corridors effectively, making it less impressive.
Show me those graphics in an open world ala Crysis 1 and we can talk graphics king.

well Crysis 2, doesnt look like that
Crysis 2 + mod does, so how can Crysis 2 be graphics king, if it doesnt look like that
Edit: isnt it unfair to other great looking games, like Battlefield 3?

Mods push engines beyond what the developers had time or money to do, it is the same engine doing all the work, so its fine.

BF3 will no doubt have the better animation, but doesn't come close to looking as good as some of these screens. Can't wait for a custom graphics config.
This pic just looks unreal. Stalker using this engine would be crazy.

You can't compare a modded game to an umodded game, and vanilla BF3 will be better vanilla Crysis. Crysis is obviously still the king technically, but IMO its overrated. It is stupidly hard to run (with a smooth and consistent framerate) and does have issues in areas where it looks meh. There are other games graphics I prefer over Crysis. And as good as Crysis 2 looks, it doesn't beat Crysis 1.

To be fair we have no clue how BF3 will run and if it will look spotty in certain situations.Very true, but I am sure with a good rig on today's standards, it will be smooth. My computer which has 4 GB of Ram, quad core OC'd to 4 GHz, and a GTX570 still has some issues with Crysis 1, which is just stupid. I played the game on medium so i wouldnt have those annoying hitches in the framerate. I think DICE does a great job, and I am sure BF3 will be absolutely fine.

To be honest McDonalds is now a part of the daily nutrition of almost every nation in this world. Go to the capital or big cities of any countries (expect those embroiled in conflicts) and you'll know what I mean.Exactly. Even small little Ireland is covered in McDonalds and Burger King's.
But those shots look incredible. Crisp, shiny and reflective. I like it. Can't wait for some of the mods to really start coming out

To be honest with you Mitu123, it's really bloomy. It's HDR HDR HDR.But your eyes can react to sunlight and normal lights very badly in real life. Maybe not as drastically though. But its just an effect to make the game have its own personality and I think it looks great. But I never understood how in almost every game when you look at the sun there is no level in intensity. The witcher 2 did it well and mods for crysis 1 also did it but normally there is no change

Animation been one of the most critical factors. It reall sells the believability of the world. Crysis has some very stiff animations sometimes. BF3 will kill it.
Off topic : I would love to see the ANT animation system in a new mirrors edge. That would work really weel seen as its all about movement
I wonder where all the console fanboy comments went when they wouldsay they are getting the better deal with graphics cause Crysis 2 looked strongly similar on all platforms and that it proves consoles can do what PC can  I do still see them on outdated comparisons with DX9 I even see some of them say that the DX11 patch doesn't count cause it didn't come at release  or that take away DX11 it looks like console versions (they also forget the high res texture packs).
Anyway I'd like to see some phyics/destructability mods cause if a rocket launcher can't make some of even the same objects in Crysis fly around like that giant wool holder then it feels wrong to me.
After seeing Infinity, X:Rebirth, GTAIV Ice, BF3, new Unreal engine, new Metro and of course, Crysis modded - it doesn't impress me, looks overdone like a girl with too much make up.
A few more shots. The modding scene rapidly picking up.

Actually Harisemo is right on a lot of these screenshots, many of them are supersampled which does qualify them as bullshots, they would run perfectly fine minus the supersampling, just would have a bit worse image quality.[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]

Ok, Let me know where you can find a PC that can play Crysis 2 on those settings at a resolution of 10240x6400 aka 65.5 megapixels. The function used to take the supersampled screenshots is TRUE supersampling, rendering both axis at 4x the resolution you would be playing at.

TRUE supersampling? Could you give me the source defining that, or did you just make it up?
In reality x4 SSAA is looking amazingly smooth and I have played games with it.

Did i make up supersampling? Are you serious? What happens when you use the screenshot command used to make the supersampled pics is it is taking a shot at a resolution that is literally 4x the res on both axis, so if you are at 2560x1600 then you would receive a screenshot of 102340x6400. The resolution that e_screenshot 1 takes the pics at can be altered to be higher or lower resolution, but at default it is set for around 4x the normal resolution. Whan i say true supersampling, i mean actual supersampling, not the "transparency" supersampling or whatever they call it nowadays in your graphics card's driver settings. Please Log In to post.
