*sigh* Painkiller will only be activated for about 10 seconds, just enough time to get you out of a hotspot....and if u are that bad then it wont help you in the long run...
Copycat lets u use other peoples perks and guns.....which could turn out to be bad for the noob cuz if the good player is playing with just a pistol and a riot shield lol....
MW2 will be balanced, no worries....41 days B.I.T.Ch.Es
Herold is just mad cuz his HALO ODST was a bust ;)
Fakenamelmao
You make me come out the shadows b/c of your crap talking. I'm okay with ODST the way it is, just wait for Reach to come out and we'll find out who the real king of FPS will be. I'd rather you wait for Reach then compare Modern Warfare 2 too ODST. Fkenamelmao the only reason I responded to you is b/c your just a bootleg co-worker off mine. As a matter of fact GTFO!!! =)
[QUOTE="Brownesque"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]Ok, I found a second site that said Painkiller was 3x the health, but I also found a site that stated the perk was also time limited, which negates much of that. Either way, these perks are a balance that was sorely missing from CoD4.SpruceCabooseHere's an idea for balance: no death streaks, no perks. I know, it's pretty crazy, but just trust me.They had games like that, years ago. We found out they they get boring very quick and there is no incentive to play them to get better. That's funny, because I stopped playing Call of Duty 4 because of all the artificial leveling mechanisms making noobs artificially better than they would otherwise be and better players worse than they would otherwise be. If you go look at the OP you'll see the argument is that MW2 would make it so that noobs are on an artificial playing field. The incentive is to continue playing the game. There's even an incentive to die 3 times in a row. There is no real incentive for getting better at the game, you just have to keep grinding and you'll get better gear/perks/rewards. I've been playing skill-based games for years. Your "observation" that there is no incentive to play them to get better is bogus, considering that your performance in the game is directly proportional to your skill level. Not so in Call of Duty. If you're on the team with the guy who dominates, you get the helicopter first and thus mop everyone up. It doesn't matter how bad you are, just being on the team that sucks means you lose. The best part is there's no autobalance and no option to switch teams or change servers and every intermission pits the exact same teams against eachother round after round. Boredom is proportional to the shallowness of the gameplay. For example, Call of Duty 4 is a nade spamming fragfest with some stupid grinding mechanic by which you can waste time. It's like an arcade. You input time and the game yells "GAME OVER" and asks for more time. Put more time in the slot, please. I never enjoyed playing Call of Duty 4 online. Never once. It was always a grindfest or a mindless fragfest. It is the definition of boredom. It does not stimulate your brain or your reflexes in any way, shape, or form. It is simply spam and grind. If you play a game with any degree of depth, like Counter Strike or Dystopia, despite the fact that there are no ridiculous imbalanced perks, you can still have balance and deep skill-based gameplay that keeps you coming back for more. Go play a game like Starcraft which doesn't have any ridiculous leveling systems or perks and yet obtains tremendous replayability and depth. Go play a game like Quake which maintains an extremely high skill ceiling (perhaps no ceiling at all) and intense gameplay to keep you playing. Call of Duty 4 is just like nails on a chalkboard for me.

and to the guy who said this: "They had games like that, years ago. We found out they they get boring very quick and there is no incentive to play them to get better."
valve says hi
Well actually they are most likely taking out martydom and replacing it with death streaks.(they also took out frag x3) At least with death streaks you're not guaranteed a kill. But hey, I'll have fun with my noob game.
That would be NEWBIE, not noob... There is a difference.you was a n00b once you self appointed hardcore snob
dog_dirt
Despite some of the noob mechanics that are being introduced in the game, it'll be a fun and addictive game so I'm picking it up regardless.
What do you expect? When COD4 came out, all the people that sucked at Halo 3 started playing COD4. Halo is built on skill, if you suck, YOU DONT WIN, and you dont progress. If you see a person's back in COD4, instant kill, try that in Halo and if you havent approached the fight correctly, you'll still die. This appeals to noobs because they can pop in the new game and isnatly feel like they're acheiving something without actually gaining any skills. mtron32
There is so much fail in the statement, it's not even funny. Halo is a race for the power weapons/vehicles, and the winning team are the one's that can jump/shoot faster than the other guy. You're saying that's more skill based than a game that grants you an advantage for properly flanking your opponent?
Seems that people who suck at FPS must play Halo, because they can't seem to watch their own backs, right? Gotta give them n00bs enough life to even the playing fields against someone who clearly ambushed/outsmarted you, right? Who cares if they used strategy to set up a good flank, I got a shotgun/Rocket combo, so it only takes 1 or 2 shots to drop them, right?
^^ That's about how ridiculous you sound right now...
P.S. : Clearly you are not that great at Halo, since there is kind of an instant dash-melee kill for seeing someone's back... not that people use strategy in Halo, anyways.
Why dont parents enforce any of the ratings or recommendations? People in the US complain about violence in schools, yet they let their kids play games with realistic guns shooting each other and being rewarded for it. The hipocrisy is just so thick its amazing.[QUOTE="h575309"][QUOTE="Crazyguy105"]

Please stop with that.
You dont know how many people that are 15-16 that are perfectly mature and wanna play games with 17+ ratings.
Just mute all the little hyperactive monkeys...
i wrote a soapbox blog about that......read it in my profile
It's down to the parents, if they don't want there child to play it or think its having a negative effect on the child then simply take it away. The problems people say are stemming from violant videogames and movies are really stemming from the fact that the parents arn't stopping there children buying/playing these games. Why shouldn't there be games and films about war when it's going on everyday and is very real? Bottom line is it's the parents decision not the snotty nosed brats.
pre ordered it today :P with uncharted 2. so yea, the only reason im getting mw2 is cz i didnt get the first one.
Ribnarak
Don't make excuses for getting it....The game is going to be great! and also u need to play through the first one for the story at least....MW2 is a sequel...
Game is fun regardless of how much skill is required. I know that CoD takes less skill than CS.. Hell even Halo and Gears have more skill than CoD... doesn't make it less fun to play. I don't understand why people hate on other people's fun.waynehead895you can has cookie nao
[QUOTE="dragonpuppy"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]How does it reward dying? SpruceCaboose
You die a lot then get a similar power to a kill steak? That is somewhat dumb to reward dying a lot. Good thing all I play on MW is freeze tag and that's all I'm probably gonna play on MW2.
Actually, the copycat death streak allows you access to the equipment your killer used, so a level 55 with a 50 Cal picking you off while you have an M16 can be equalized with copycat, but you still would need to be better than your enemy to kill him first. It balances out the level system. As for painkiller, if you are getting killed, it starts you with some extra health (not 3x as much like someone claimed), and in CoD, if you have played it, you know some extra health is not that much help (think Juggernaut).
But couldn't they still use juggernaut on top of that? Rewarding players for dieing in a competitive online shooter is not cool in my book.I agree that IW is noobing up MW2. Death streaks, perks on top of perks and rewards at 3,4,5,7,9,11 kills are gonna make for some very low K/D ratios. lol I'm getting Operation Flashpoint to counteract this. Won't stop me from sneaking around the house in my NVGs from my prestige edition.
It's funny how people are looking for reasons to hate MW2 lol
They just hate it because it's popular, these same people will still end up buying it and secretly enjoy it.
They only seem to use Death Streaks in their arguments so they obviously can't think of anything else. Bless. Death Streaks aren't even an issue anyway. Dying 3 times for a 10 second health boost is USELESS and Dying 4 times in a row just to use someone elses gun isn't going to help a rubbish player either?

Actually, it's 3x health. But I appreciate the BS.
A triple heath boost is not going to help much in Hardcore, and won't do anything against a head shot. Who cares about the copy cat perk, I've seen what some people play with on COD:WAW ie Double Grenades, Juggernaut, Steady aim. They will not be happy when they get my bouncing betties, camoflauge/uav jammer, extreme conditioning. If you are getting death streaks u suck, and the perks aren't really going to help you if you don't know what ur doing. The only thing it will benifit are experienced players that prestige, why not let the high level guy take you out for ur 3rd death and get his stuff and dominate with it. But then again I pick up other peoples weapons to begin with

PS_John
I can see it for what it is. Read my post. I didn't just put $5 on it. My prestige edition is paid for since it was announced. As a seasoned COD player, I can't help but feel that this is a step to appeal to noobs. Death streaks are ridiculous. Perks on top of perks(Pro perks)?! 3,4,5,7,9,11 kill streak rewards plus you can use a perk to shorten the requirement by one kill. You're gonna see nonstop rewards during the match. It doesn't seem too hard to fight to attain something. No accomplishment in getting that helicopter, airstrike or UAV.
You have some audacity to make a thread like this with a Gears avatar.I think this game will be pretty decent but all the crap thatg they have will make it a noob paradise. The main thing I can't stand anymore is this rewarding system they have implemented in order to reward those who die all the time. I really fell like this game will be very unbalanced. COD 4 was already full of campers, just expect it to be worse with more helicopters

If a game is life changing then you need to change your life.
Well in BC2 we can "customize" vehicles with "noobish" things like extra armor and special functions etc. Hmm...sounds like perks to me. Except you better be in a vehicle too when the "noob" "Juggernaut" tank comes rollin in. Bah!

I mean, in MW it didnt seem so bold in its approach, but after watching some MW2 footage, it seems like every 2 seconds theres a "+ 50" for some damn thing. I like the leveling part of it, because I dont think experts or pros should be playing against people who have never played and slaughter the hell out of them because they dont do it for a living, or have a life. But constant numbers popping up like a pinball machine is just starting to detract from the game now. What if you or some other pro has acquired that boost? If it is a game based on kills it wouldnt give them that much of an advantage.
Say 3 people decide to turn it into an exploit; they all die 3 times which means they gave the other team 9 kills.
Those 3 people alone would make their team have to get 9 kills without dying just to break even.
---
If it is an objective game type I can see this as a problem; just not a major one.
Those tree people can raid an objective and use the extra health as an advantage. It does however bring up this question; Once that player's health reaches normal levels after taking some hits, does it regenerate to 3x that amount?
If they dont regain that health boost I dont think it will be more of a nussance than what the juggernaut perk currently is.
