More like the opposite. Video games have been owning movies since Halo 2 broke industry records in 2004. These are all good signs. That just reflects negatively on the video gaming industry.

it's just a ripple effect. MW1 made such a high impact people don't want it they NEED it. Eventually the ripples will go away.I seriously don't see how a poor game like this deserves all these high sales.

This ripple effect will eventually go away anyway.I played MW2 and didn't like it at all. This game didn't even impress me that much from what I saw of it.

I think I can be excused for wanting to buy MW3 since it'll only be the second CoD game I've ever played. It's definitely on my list this Christmas. Final exams will be over soon and I'll have sufficient time for gaming

Thank God....
[QUOTE="super600"]The people buying it predominately don't actually care about games. The best part? Activision's all: Call of Duty is now amongst that rarified group of sustained franchises like "Star Wars", "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings" and the National Football League (NFL) that attract or engage tens of millions of people every year or every new release.I seriously don't see how a poor game like this deserves all these high sales.

The irony? Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings appeal to pretty much everyone with a pulse. Call of Duty only appeals to bros. Most people either don't like it because it's got about as much depth as a puddle, or don't give a sh*t. Yep, it's one of those "special franchises" all right.

I know that. The only really good thing from thi game seems to be Elite in my opinion from what I seen from this game.
I really cant enjoy the COD series anymore after playing all of them since 2007...I gave up after Black Ops and then BF3 came out and I just enjoyed that way more...I really enjoyed the GameBattles on COD but now its just so easy for anybody to be good and it dont hold a challenge for me anymore...I actually have to try in BF3 and I still get smacked sometimes which I enjoy...Ill probally enjoy the COD series again when they actually change it when the new systems come out, assuming they do...
Call of Duty sucks. Find a another franchise to support, even if it is another Crappy JRPG.Nice, i love Call of Duty and will keep on supporting it

It deserves it. The reason it sells well is because it does everything nearly perfectly. Tons of customization, tons of weapons, lots of new maps, a huge community, an interesting story, cinematic action, and great sound. Plus it has lots of advertising which sells it even farther. Honestly I think anyone who says it is a "bad" game is just being foolish and is riding the hate bandwagon. It doesn't innovate much. So what? That doesn't make it bad.
It's the same game that was released 4 years ago. Shouldn't that be a major problem? It deserves it. The reason it sells well is because it does everything nearly perfectly. Yep!You're finding an excuse to figure out why people hate the franchise. For someone like me I tried some of the cod games like MW2 and hated them. I don't see why a game were you're being constantly forced to follow the leader in the SP with little opportunity to break out of the pattern and a rehased MP that is still broken deserves to be praised. The only thing it excels at is being addicting to play.
Everybody who could get out of the house could see Avatar. Taking into account these sales are mostly from 360 and PS3, only gamers owning these consoles could buy MW3. MW3 destroyed Avatar, stop crying about it.I think Avatar is still the biggest entertainment product ever, given that movie tickets are usually around £10, while games are around £40, so Avatar had to sell more tickets to more people than MW3.

Continuation of the story, new maps, new gamemodes. It isn't the same game. It simply didn't innovate very much. There is no reason to say this game is terrible like so many people are. I played Gears 3 and didn't like it at all, but that doesn't mean i'm going to call a crappy game because I know it isn't. I can see the quality of the game objectively, I just didn't like the cover aspect. The same situation applies with the COD series. People may not like certain elements of the game (like its lack of innovation), but that doesn't mean it is a bad game. If people took off their hate goggles they would appreciate what COD is - a well made FPS.

Quite, those are IPs that have massive cultural sustainability, and worth. COD doesn't; it effects a much smaller percentage of the audience, and sells at a much higher cost; it's not a versatile transmedia IP. Star Wars is a cultural icon, Call of Duty carries the weight of being an army man shooting game for manchildren. Please Log In to post.
