They're identical. So it basically comes down to whichever controller you prefer.

Master_ShakeXXX

What do you mean by identical? Are tgere minor differences besides controller preference? Just asking

Identical as in the exact ****ing same.

[QUOTE="ShadowsDemon"][QUOTE="TomatoDragonPSN"]Totally agree. Amazing game...but arrrggggg. Challenge 6 for platinum! it's all I need!TomatoDragonPSN
That's an extremely tough trophy. What some tips? :)

Most definitely :)

Round 1: Use Assult Rifle, Shotgun and Machine Gun. Do not use the upgrade until round 5. No grenades. Round 2: Hide at the statue and then drop an EMP when the flying things come at you. Round 3. LFE gun is esstinal. Use the Shotgun at the same time to hit them in the back, and if no possible, take off their heads. Round 4: Get your LFE gun, and use it to destroy all the blue robots. Use a Machine Gun to take out the turrets. Do not use the rocket launcher on the scoprions; just keep moving and firing. Round 5: The only way to pass thjis round is with extreme skill and luck. Use the Lock on Laser to get the bosses with rolling around. Use your LFE gun to take out the rolling balls. When they pause to launch an attack fire with your rocket launcher. I hope that helps. :)

Im thinking about getting Vanquish soon.. Question is should i get it on ps3 or 360?jessejay420
Looking at the face off, it looks like the PS3 version is better....not by much though. I'd go with whatever controller you prefer more on this one.

I thought it wqas pretty decent. The suit mechanics were great, but having to fight the giant enemy crab a billion times instead of a new boss got old, and the game glitched on me a few times which was REALLY off putting. So I guess what I am saying is that it was a great concept that needed a little more polish.

Trying to wrap my head around it, yet. The cover shooting directly contradicts the sliding and shooting - but perhaps I just have to play more. There's a lot I like stylistically.

Cover is more for you to quickly recover your suits boost ability. It isn't a cover-based shooter and people that play it that way are doing it all wrong. Get your ass to the floor and slide, man. Slide while shooting bullets to the sky. It's a damn dream come true!

Most of the time it's better/more fun to slide around and shoot stuff (you can dodge a lot of stuff just by timing your rolls and slides well), but if you are in danger of dying it's time to hit the cover.

This. Where Gears and Uncharted want you to hold your ground more vanquish wants you to stay on the move, and get aggressive. Drop kicking robots, and shotgunning everyone down in slow mo.

Honestly I'd never say that someone is 'playing it wrong' as that's implemented as it is - but I'm not far enough into the game to be actively encouraged or forced by enemies to slide around between cover, I'm still pretty early on after some space ships crashed and there's plenty of shooting. I'm looking forward to experiencing what the games like in all those gifs; I'm an absolute sucker for stupendously over the top shooters.

So far from what I've played definitely, all the mechanics and function is there, but the game hasn't opened up entirely yet to demmand it yet for me. It seems to have a bit of a conservative start (after the tutorial bit that is). Even something like spinning around while shooting is ludicrously logical though, the games internal logic is pretty fantastic.

I am so sick of hearing praise about his game here, the graphics sucked, the story sucked , the gamplay was good........... but its the same 15 sec of game play for the whole campaign, which is most games but the story was so cheesy and lame I couldnt be bothered to finish it. I am sick of hearing about his overrated trash there is a reason it is not more popular

The demo stunk, but i keep hearing great things about the game. I'm still "afraid" to "waste" my time on a game with a sucky demo in fear that you guys just don't have taste. :)

That's because it is. Vanquish has all the mechanics to be a TPS on crack. It's just the level design/mission design rarely picks up it up a notch.

In short it's an amazing game. Sure the story sucks and it is short, but the gameplay is just fluid and unlike everything that's ever comne before. I loved the game so much I even decided to go for the platinum trophy and beat Challenge 6.

I don't understand why more people aren't playing it. It's got everything and more you could want from a shooter....what's stopping you?

Just about everyone who has played it will agree with me. :D

Thoughts?

ShadowsDemon

No. They should not play it, because Vanquish wasn't good.

The story was terrible - Cliche, and poorly acted and I question the translation.

.

The weapons were terrible - couldn't upgrade all the guns in one playthrough.

.

The gimmick wasn't well executed - everything was off one bar, move too long no armor, get hit too much can't move, melee takes too much energy and leaves you without armor or mobility.

.

Anyone who thinks vanquish is new and different never went to an arcade.

It's an arcade shooter, when you die you'll feel like you should put a quarter

in.

This game has been made hundreds of times before, it just usually came in a cabinet.

Mediocre Story Boring and Unlikable Characters Short Campaign With No Replayability No sure how it could have worked but it needed some sort of Multiplayer aspect. Maybe Co-Op missions or campaign. Good Graphics Excellent Gameplay. Very solid and the gunplay flows amazingly. I personally don't see much of a point playing past the demo.

[QUOTE="savebattery"]I have asked multiple times for a simple explanation of what you like about the game and you can't even muster that.foxhound_fox
Why should I have to muster anything beyond "I just like it"? Why do I have to justify anything to you?

Where in the hell did I ask for a justification? I asked with legitimate curiosity what people like about the game. I literally do not understand, and you keep getting defensive when I ask for clarification. Go back and read our entire exchange. I really don't think it's too much to ask that people provide reasons or examples to back up their subjective opinions on a freaking discussion forum of all places. Wow.

Mediocre Story

Boring and Unlikable Characters

Short Campaign With No Replayability

RyanShazam

Which can be said about every other shooter released in the west, hell, at least Vanquish has infinitely better gameplay to keep my glued on the screen.

So i don't see any problem, if one would keep that in mind.

I may be alone on this, but I enjoyed the dialog ("Stick some tungsten up this tunnel's ass! This colony ain't gonna walk straight for a while", works for me !) and the characters. I thought the bad guys plan, explained towards the end, was hilarious in a so bad it's good way. The art-design was cool, with the different robots being the highlight. Some amazing stylish cut-scenes to top it off. In short I enjoyed a lot more than just the stellar gameplay. It's a very entertaining package!

Nah, you're not, because I actually liked the characters and enjoyed the dialogue too, but I love non-serious cheesiness in video games. Still they're not the reasons why I love Vanquish, it's the badass gameplay. Seeing people hate on it just because of the story and such just makes me lol.

I have to agree with you. In any other game, I think I would have been annoyed, but there's something about Vanquish where the cheesiness just works.

Yeah the gameplay is the best thing. But I think the great design lifts it. Beside the robots there's the awesome suit and changhing weapons looks cool every time. I think these things (and actually also the cheesy dialogue to some extent) contribute to making the gameplay feel so badass.

The art-design was cool, with the different robots being the highlight. Some amazing stylish cut-scenes to top it off. In short I enjoyed a lot more than just the stellar gameplay. It's a very entertaining package!Sushiglutton

Nah, you're not, because I actually liked the characters and enjoyed the dialogue too, but I love non-serious cheesiness in video games. Still they're not the reasons why I love Vanquish, it's the badass gameplay. Seeing people hate on it just because of the story and such just makes me lol.

Yeah the gameplay is the best thing. But I think the great design lifts it. Beside the robots there's the awesome suit and changhing weapons looks cool every time. I think these things (and actually also the cheesy dialogue to some extent) contribute to making the gameplay feel so badass.

Yeah, I agree, everything definitley looks and feels sleek, which adds to the overall package. It's a very arcadey game, and I think all the design choices follow suit in that regard.

GREAT GREAT game. AWFUL AWFUL story...I just spaced out whenever they were talking about whatever stupid thing was going on. Love the dash from cover to cover. Its gears on speed.

The demo was ok, but not good enough to justify the purchase of the game.

"We tested it out, on this rat who literally had it shoved up its ass" Man, I laughed when Sam said that. :P

I like the art style and character design, but at least in the demo, the characters had the emotional depth of a piece of paper, and the ending boss was far too arcadey and japaneezy for my tastes. When I read that the gameplay didn't evolve beyond what was in the demo, that was the final straw for any hopes of my buying this flashy, ostensibly shallow game.

Just beat it, and my god the story is awful. And too bad it's so short. Still really fun for the price you can get it know.

[QUOTE="ShadowsDemon"][QUOTE="TomatoDragonPSN"] Most definitely :)kuraimen

Do you have tips for challenge 4? I can't seem to pass that one

No, sorry. :(
