I have to say, MGS any boss fight. But i paricularly liked the fight against the teleporter guy and you had to unplug your controller to confuse him. Ahhh great times. BUt seriously MGS for playstation had the best.

Yup, some epic and unusual (in the awesome way) battles. its just the 3rd person view and the game systems dun go with me Subsistence would be a great way to start, it has a full 3D camera you control with the left a. stick and online MP plus a bunch of cool extras. I feel like playing some SOTC after this thread :P

So many epic battles I have taken part in during video games..but one of the most recent ones I played took place at the end of baten kaitos origins. How it all played out was incredibly epic.
I had a really epic battle in Supreme Commander today. Enemy sent a Monkeylord at me and I sent my gunships and bombers at it. The Monkeylord managed to survive long enough to make it into my base and destroyed a good chunk of it. A short time later he sent 3 nukes at me, and I lost. :( I think the most epic battle would be one of the Shadow of the Colossus bosses.

someone mentioned Mr. Bison in Street Fighter Alpha 3... it was so hard to get to him and finally you're there and its like all stormy and everything. i remember beating him with Ryu. such an awesome moment
the last battle from the first MGS for the ps1 is probably my all time favorite. i remember my first time fighting metal gear. it was sooooo hard. finally after a long afternoon i beat the machine. then it was off to fight liquid hand to hand. then it was the escape. the whole thing was just awesome. i was ready to cry when the credits started to role.
alot of the stuff from God of war that was difficult. the challenge of the gods was pretty epic. i sat down for like 6 hours and didn't turn off the console until i had finished all the missions.
i had some epic battles in the original total annihilation. i would pick a huge map and build a really small base. i would then let the computer expand like crazy until it had covered most of the map. then i would make like 5 nuke launchers and let them build up missles for awhile. then i would just launch them all at once.
last battle in onimusha 3... turning into the demon was awesome
Ninety Nine Nights at the Pholya Flatlands. I have never been in a more epic battle...
Both big ass armys are rushing the field, only to collide at the river. Reinforcements from both come sworming down, with loads of dragons above shooting down creating chaos.
The halo games had some really awesome stuff. In halo CE there was of course the final mission, and in halo 2 in the level gravemind when you enter the place where the fallen arbiters are buried. Spec. ops elite leaders and brutes everywhere, awesome music to boot. It immediately gets your adrenaline pumping.
I also want to give credits to a racer. PGR 2 the last arcade race was awesome. Everyone racing their supercars with pinpoint accuracy through mid city edinborough... Awesome.
The entire section in MGS1 where you are going through the Communication Towers, fighting hundreds of guards, a Hind D, absailing down the side its all very, very impresive.
In a similair vein getting in Groznyj Grad for the first time was so amazing and yet if filled with lots of tension as you are in their base, full of their soldiers, tanks, Shagohod etc.
Knight in Shadow of The Colossus Big Smoke's mansion in San Andreas (not the actual fight, but the parts before it and the build-up to it) Shagohod (easily the longest, yet one of the best boss fights I've played) - MGS3
