Now its too kiddie, casual and they turned their back on their hard core fans...When did they do this??? Take a look in the mirror either you grew up or you turned your back against nintendo not the other way around!

Are you serious? Previous console by nintendo were aimed directly at us.. the core games. The wii is aimed at the *expanded market*, with core gamers on the side. If anything nintendo turned their back on US. Even though I do enjoy quite a few games on the Wii, saying we gave up on them is something else. Also I grew up on PC first..
exactly you out grew nintendo. All I'm saying is it kills me when people say they turned their back on their hardcore audience. No one remembers having 10 of their friends spend the nigth just to play 4 player mario kart or golden eye....peole say nintendo is too gimicky...did they forget about the race pad for nintendo..they have always been the same its the fans that changedI never grew up, but my taste in video games has changed.

I was raised on a diet of Playstation.

Same here. There was a little Nintendo sprinkled here and there though because of their handhelds.
how do you figure? nintendo always reached out to the masses it just seemed like they were for the core gamers cause their only competition was sega who at the time was much more edgier then nintendo. Nintendo was always about family first hence grey blood in mortal combat instead of real bloodAre you serious? Previous console by nintendo were aimed directly at us.. the core games. the continuing decline of nintendos hardware and software sales from snes to N64 to GC would tell me that the so called hardcore gamer jumper ship first. had nintendo remaind loyal to the hardcore gamer (the very notion of which makes me laugh :P) they would be finished (thats assuming they made a console to directly compete with the PS3 and 360. so a better GC pad and hardware to rival the others...with a big online system). there is no way nintendo could have survived on a user base of less than 20 million (and make no mistake here...they would have recieved nothing short of an absolute masacare from MS and sony). the wii is nintendo back to the nes days...stirring it all up again. good thing to...the industry needed a bit of stirring and shaking. Are you serious? actually i grew up with an NES then I wasn't interested in nintendo games anymore. Now that i'm over 30 Nintendo's selection seems to appeal to me the most. Go figure. Now its too kiddie, casual and they turned their back on their hard core fans...When did they do this??? They didn't turn their back to hardcore, it's just that the hardcores from today come from the other systems and are not interested in Nintendo's offerings. So they just move on.Are you serious? Imo that's due to nintendo's arrogance due to the NES/Snes.. same as sony from the PS1/PS2, the 64 lacked the games and they let sony take everything, again for the GC. No one turned their backs on them, they just didn't deliver, so now they have gone to the *extended audience*.
Actually I played more PS1 and PS2 games than SNES games, which was the only Nintendo console I liked.

I thought that was due to people complaining about the blood? If i remember MK2 and MK3 both had regular blood, so did killer instinct.
Ive had every nintendo system since the gameboy color. all of them were worth it i guess, but ps3 just kills the wii this gen.

I play video games not marry them. The fact is that the wii is too casual this gen, it is full of shovelware and mini game collections yeah there are a few gems here and there but certainly not enough to avoid me selling mine to get aPS3.
Id also like to say that i have owned every nintendo console starting with the SNES and GBC.
Wrong. I grew up on a PC playing games like Doom and Quake while my classmates were playing Mario and Zelda. It would be wise to assume that one doesn't abandon their roots especially when my favorite type of games are on this platform.
[QUOTE="kkevguy47k"]^ Same here (except I started with the NES). The PS3 destroys the Wii. in terms of what how does the ps3 destroy wii? not disagreeing just askingIve had every nintendo system since the gameboy color. all of them were worth it i guess, but ps3 just kills the wii this gen.

Raised by Nintendo? Bah! I grew up with a PC and DOS, none of this fancy smancy windows nonsense, wheres my old man stick? I need to wave it at some kids on my lawn! :Pblue_hazy_basicwhich version of Dos was your first? I remember using Dos 3 for a little bit on my ibm xt system.

ahh but your talking about loyalty here..surely it should work both ways (though the idea of being loyal to a company is as silly as a company being loyalt to me...but anywho). shouldnt the so called hardcore have stuck to nintendo through think and thin? they didnt...so why should nintendo sick to the hardcore?[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]Raised by Nintendo? Sorry I grew up Sega gaming, and I didnt turn my back on Sega they turned their back on me  Ninty did the best thing they could do this gen. Their hardcore fanbase didnt help them through the N64 and GC era so it was only about time they go completely kiddy forthis gen with a few doses of hardcore gaming every couple months.
actually a lot of people turned their back on sega with the failure of sega cd, 32x and dreamcast especially when they found out that burnt games could be played on the systemSorry I grew up Sega gaming, and I didnt turn my back on Sega they turned their back on me  Ninty did the best thing they could do this gen. Kiddy? Since when has Nintendo changed it's marketing execution? They've been releasing the same type of games for years. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin, Punch Out, etc.
I hope this casual thing Nintendo is going through is just a phase...The way they are making money, I'm starting to doubt they will ever put the Hardcore on the top of their list again. They probably realized there just isn't as much money if you go with the Hardcore!.
[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"] Don't remember :D I do remember being incredibly excited when we upgraded to a 386 though! :lol:OntainI ran a 386 sx 16mhz for the longest time. it was my first upgrade as well. and i was like OMG color. I bought a terabyte hardrive there a few months ago and I laughed at how small they were back then. Hell whole games came on floppy disks instead of just being able to fit a word document! (I even wonder if some people on here have even seen a floppy disk!)
HUH???!?!? what first party hardcore/violent games have nintendo made??!?!? its the developers and fans not the companies. Sega took a chance with madworld and it sold decent so did no more heros.I hope this casual thing Nintendo is going through is just a phase...The way they are making money, I'm starting to doubt they will ever put the Hardcore on the top of their list again. You go to the next best thing. The reality of the situation right now is nintendo doesn't really care about core games and vice versa, so we can leave it at that.
most of you still supporting nintendo argue that they have not changed the kind of games they have released. i can tell you how they have changed, their current games lack any challenge whatsoever. nowadays it's enough to just slap the mario or zelda name on something and now they're even going to throw in the option to allow the game to play itself for you. nintendo, you lost a long time customer in me this gen. you will never get money from me again.
True, they didn't change that much, but gamers did and certain things became to be expected like online, hd and mature titles.
But it would had been a suicide for Ninty get into a tech race with Sony and MS, so they took they only way out short of quitting, making it even more casual to the point they weren't even targeting gamers but just ordinary people.
I don't mind, it was out choise when people bought Playstations and Xbox'es over N64 and Gamecube, and it's better than having every company put out a replica of each other's systems.
