Volgar The Viking.
Alien Isolation. I hate horror games, but from what I played, it was extremely tense and challenging but it felt really cool, like you really get relieved when you make progress (reach a save point).
@Basinboy
In Lulu's Dictionary, "Rewarding" is the process of getting something in return for doing something.
More emphasis is placed on what you get back in returning than whatever it is you're doing. Hence why I disagree with Bayonetta and Donkey Kong as rewarding games... They are not built around the idea of rewards, they actually want you to enjoy whatever it is you are doing, the privelage of playing the game becomes its own reward, the Ranks and Unlockable features are just bonuses. the game remains enjoyable even when you get nothing back or even when you fail or die, you can look back and say "it was fun while it lasted"
A Rewarding game on the other hand something like Dark Souls, you don't play the game for the sake of playing it, the gameplay is far too bland and boring for that. You play it to earn upgrades, to get new items and equipment and to say "look at me I beat Dark Souls", the game is only enjoyable when get something back in return, theres no enjoyment in the constant dying, the back tracking and retreading, the memorization of Brain Dead AI moves, the enjoyment comes afterwards, as rewards in the form of Souls, Upgrades, Equipment and ofcourse... Being "Teh Hardcore".
Its not a fun a game, its a Rewarding one.
Ofcourse this isn't what TC meant... Not by a long shot.
Nah, rewarding games are fun.
Dark Souls also does not have bland combat or anything. It's slow, maybe. But very enjoyable. It's solid, predictable, versatile, etc. Why do you think it had such a huge PVP community?
Nothing new, but I've played a shit ton of Gunstar Heroes, Mega Man and NiGHTS this year, and I'd call them rewarding games, or at least ones that take skill.
@parkurtommo
Nope Rewarding games are Rewarding, thats why they are called rewarding games. But then again, sometimes its just Preference.
As for the PvP.... Huge ? The game its self is no CoD, so what qualifies as "huge" ?
Like big enough to have "top 10 pvp fights" videos on youtube. People liked the pvp a lot. It was very popular. I remember doing pvp in Anor Londo for a full week non stop (like, I would make no progress during that week, it was just pvp in Anor Londo).
Contrary to your belief, the combat in the Souls series is extremely solid, it's FUN.

Disagree with the bolded statement.
EDIT: I will actually disagree with Lulu here, Dark Souls is rewarding, you just have to go through a lot of unnecessary shit to get the reward.
@parkurtommo
Actually PvP is the most complaint full part of Dark Souls, even among those who actually like the game. Unless ofcourse you win invasions all the time thank to having better stats and more resources.
@EPICCOMMANDER
You're my freaking Guardian Angel. :)
Freedromfreak, you're part of what's wrong with system wars. For years now we've had to watch you and your stupid gay threads and your santa clause comments, posting around this place like you have rainbows and unicorns pouring out of your ass in real life. Go bitch about how the sheep finally have a leg to stand on because Bayonetta got a 10, and stop making stupid threads like this. I don't like you. I don't think anyone does. I think people come here and they see everyone being nice to you and then they shrug and say what the hell, sure, I'll be nice to this stupid strawberry shortcake chick. No one remembers why they like you. You're like a retired stripper who still hangs around the spot and bothers customers with nostalgic comments....nah I shouldn't talk about lostrib's mom like that.
wtf is a santa clause comment?
wtf is a nanerer?
Probably Metro Redux on PS4 such a great game (well two games) that I never played before so it was all new to me. Divinity OS gets an honourable mention for taking me back in time to when RPGs were really good and well crafted.
Actually the most rewarding game was probably Ryse on Xbox One. I bought the One for MCC (can't wait) but got Ryse for something to mess around with. It was so bad that as soon as I made the decision to never ever play it again I felt rewarded, satisfied and strangely content and at peace.
@parkurtommo
Ironically enough, you make a good point. But believe it or not, the climax of horror (the big mind raping scare at the apex of the tension threshold) is also used to relieve tension. you finaly get to see Monster in all its well lit blood chilling terror.
I really do hope Dragon Age is another satisfying experience because if not... 2014 is just painful.

Kind of pinning my hopes on that and MCC.
Dumb topic as the most rewarding game is Mario Kart 8 as you got a free game with it, A good 2nd would be Bayonetta 2 as if you got the SPECIAL EDITION you get Bayonetta too.
/THREAD.
@Lulu_Lulu: I know, kinda weird coming from me. I got Mario Kart 8 and LoZ WW and the special edition of Bayonetta 2. The awesome thing about WW was i got £5 free too for the Eshop. Freedom wasnt rewarded well as he brought that poor mans edition of Bayonetta 2 LOL!!!
Hmmm looking back the most fun I've had all year is with Guacamelee. I know it's a 2013 game, but still. One of the best designed games I've played in ages actually. Great mechanics, challenging but not frustrating, a constant stream of new obstacles being thrown at you meant it felt fresh throughout. Quirky story/characters that entertained.
With all AAA games being so f-ing bloated it's refreshing with these laser focused indiegames without any padding whatsoever.
Look at you thinking your pinky girly games are rewarding. Shoooo cute.
Oh pft :p
Thats no way to talk a princess. Straighten Up !
Erhem! I shall exude my thoughts in a disbelief manner with playful undertones: Pft.
@93BlackHawk93
How is that a fact ?
The overwhelming amount of rewards makes it a fact.
:P
