Hides bad framerate, makes things look smother. I think it's good, but some games use it a lot more than others.Master-Thief-09

It would be easier to remove the effect, if you want better performance from a game. Adding motion blur is only going to stress the GPU more.

Motion Blur is great. It makes games feel a lot more immersive and look more like movies. If I turn my head fast in real life, it's not going to look perfect and sharp, and the same can be said about motion on film as well. The current goal of video game graphics, for the most part is photo realism. Part of photo realism, however, is to re-create the limitations of a camera. The bonus features for Wall-E talked a lot about how much work it took to make it look like Wall-E was filmed through a camera, and it's pretty remarkable.

Well actually, yes it should. Try it now. You might feel a little dizzy, but you wont experience blur.

I personally like it, it gives the game style or something. Makes it feel all warm and fuzzy I guess, I can't really think of how to describe it...

Let's just say it gives the game a certain feeling of something good (nice and specific).

Nobody's senses work exactly the same as everyone else's.

The way I percieve the world is likely a very different perception than the way you percieve the world.

My sense of sight, smell, taste and feel are all unique to me.

I notice slight motion blur. Extremely difficult to pick out the fact that there is motion blur, but YES, I do recognize it.

Nothing wrong with my brain, just everyone has different and unique senses.

I don't think motion blur can actually be as exagerated as it is in video games though, regardless of how someone percieves something. I mean if it were as bad as it was in video games it would be a bit worrying.

Video game graphics can only go so far, but as newer tech is released and created the realism will vastly improve, but we have not reached that point yet...but yea MB in games is a bit exagerated, due to missing elements, in lighting, objects, and motion.

I hate it when it's overdone. But I like it a lot when it's done well, such as in the Orange Box.

Project Offset (PC exclusive) owned by intel and will be the show game for the Larrabee...i cant wait... that will most likely be the first game to preform realtime ray tracing at a high FPS

The game was under development for a long time using traditional rasterization, so I doubt they'll switch everything over to a ray-tracer at this point.

sometimes it helps to show you're moving quickly, but sometimes it just seems forced to hide stuff. When used properly it can look good though.

I like all of these things if they are done properly.

I hate all of these things if they are done badly

Nintendo often seems to use it in a way I don't like e.g. in some of their games they seem to blur everything in the near distance for no real reason, like in Twilight Princess for example, and when the camera moves they also blur most things too. It's just too much and it makes the game look limited and even lower res that it is rather than looking like a cool effect.

Ever smeared vaseline on your eyes. No I didn't think so. So until you smear vaseline on your eyes and see the world through a smeared out messy blob as the sweat drips from your brow and you ask yourself why you're left stranded in a jungle with only a diaper then you can truly understand motion blur.

Life ain't sharp, it's blurred, you never know who's right or who's wrong.
