I don't understand it no. I have a PC and have seen what they can do these days with games that are optimized for them. The consoles need DX11 support. They need triple core processors. With these innovations, developers would be able to bring us one step closer to photo realism in games.

360 already has a 3-core.
Personally I'm ok with using current console hardware for another 1-2 years.
Beyond that I'll need better equipment.
Figure new consoles in 2013/2014, so I'll finish up my console backlog around that time and sell off the equipment.
Upgrade my PC, work on PC backlog for 2-3 years, wait for price drops on console stuff, then shift again.
Basically cycling platforms, wait for price drops, etc.
