First payed for map pack was for Halo 2. Followed by MS's policy to force devs to charge for DLC. So MS is the reason we have $15 map packs and have content on discs locked unless you pay for them.
However, I also blame fellow PC gamers for Buying MW2, now we are being charged $60 a game, and if you say it's inflation................
Xbox 360 is better than the PS3
better online experience
more games
more exclusives
better controller
more affordabe
etc etc etc
This is why 360 is beating the PS3. The consumers see the value is greater for Xbox. Plus they don't wanna get hacked and lose their credit card info on psn.
jimmypsn
1. Better online - agree
2. More games - not true
3. More exclusives - lol what?
4. More affordable - maybe in the past, but please explain to me now how a 360 is more affordable than a PS3. If anything the 360 costs more because you have to pay for Live, as well as controllers that don't have built-in batteries.

You just had to ruin a potentially good thread...for shame:evil:
Its because Microsoft made online gaming on consoles poular and now mainstream.jimmypsnThat is a complete joke online gaming has been popular before the xbox was even launch on PC,the DC was online before the xbox even launch and online gaming on PS2 was more popular than on the xbox,in fact only 2 million users had xbox live on the original xbox, sony sold like 5 million network adapters, that without saying that the PS2 slim had online play out of the box.

I agree completely, its amazing how cows suddenly forgot all about the over priced stuff for the PS2 and now say that it was all MS.MS is neither the best nor the worst thing in the console market and certainly not both. All three companies have been guilty of nickle and diming their customers, I don't give a crap who you think "introduced" it..
It's amazing how sketchy peoples memories of the last 2 generations are. There is a reason Playstation fanboys were called cows.

i'd be fine with just Ninty and Sony like the good old days ... maybe even Apple can get in the mix. I'll never trust MS again after going through 3 consoles in 2 months.
I love the idea that seems to be commonly held here in SW, that $ony and $intendo aren't out to get our $, just M$. It's laughable.getyeryayasoutdamn those crazy Sony and Nintendo fellows charging us 0$ a year to play online ! and how about those free games that PSN Plus offers ? THIEVES I tell you ! gimme a break Sony and Nintendo are so the opposite of nickle and diming.
No I think the added competition of M$ is a bad thing. How? Additional competition in any industry is always good for the consumer. No it's not always good, it depends on who competes. The way M$ is used to compete is detrimental to the whole industry IMO. I would rather have another less money/power hungry competitor that is not used to use shady tactics to make profits and control the market which M$ is basically the opposite of.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]You think the added competition of a third major console developer is a bad thing? this was sooooo relevant to what I posted.Atari says hi.You have to give Xbox some credit for being the first American console to survive in a long time.

History lessons. http://www.gaming-age.com/news/2004/7/30-59 Socom 2 logging more play hours than all xbox live games combined world wide,so much for MS making online gaming popular.Ahh Sony so great just giving us free games out of the blue. Oh wait. PSN was hacked down for a month and people's information and credit cards got stolen.jimmypsnAnd sony put a 1 million dollar policy that protect you against theft, there go's the whole argument, also several million people on xbox 360 had been left without console for a month, time in which they could not play anything period not only online but offline as well,at least PS3 owners could play offline, and still happen to this day because RROD still happen to this day,and people still left without playing for weeks and some cases more than a month.

Wow...just wow...whats next are you going to blame Microsoft for satan? Maybe the riots in Vancouver when they didn't win the Stanley? Global warming and the damage to the ozone layer?
I'll explain most of what was wrong with what you posted.
""While i think that XBL price scheme is horrible and put the majority of the xbox 360 users base in a position where they miss a complete part of a game multiplayer if they don't pay,and have bring a new era of over priced peripherals, nickel and dime and even rise of games to $60 which is attribute to the xbox 360 in special in 2005.""Except its still undeniable the xbox live service is still better than anything offered on the consoles at this point and time anything else and defending the shortcommings of other services is just fanboy goggles and its as simple as that sheer content and intergration keeps XBL ontop andabsolutely notit puts some of the user base in a postion where they knew the online portion cost money if they wanted it free then they should have moved onto the Wii, Ps3 or PC.
thank god you said new era and saved your self because in the past you've made out that Microsoft is the only one that ever charged such high prices for accessories which then was false and even now with you saying new era is false all you have is the wireless adaptor and harddrive otherwise the ps3 controllers are just as expensive and dont offer near the battery life of the often 40-50 dollar 360 wireless controler+play and charge kits, wireless headset, hdmi cables, usb cables...etc...etc all have the same price and parity and all have 3rd party options on the 360 just like the ps3 for cheaper prices please dont act like high priced accessories are new and that Microsoft is alone in charging high prices for them. Because the official stuff for the 360 might be pricey but its only as pricey as its competitors and often better quality too boot.
Really are you actually blaming Microsoft for 60 dollar games? well damn Sony being the generous charity they are were offering all of their ps3 games for 40 right? they weren't....Oh I guess the fact a year before the 360 was even released analysts were predicting rising game development costs and publishing costs would push the games up 10 dollars...but hey remember back in the cartridge days when games were 20 dollars? wait I didn't pay 70 dollars for quite a few snes games? It seems to me that Sony commits most of the same things high priced games, high prices accessories but to you thats just good buisness sense for sony when its Microsoft its the devil of the corporate world.

What ad's oh you mean the ones that take all of half a milisecond to bypass do not hamper the experience or speed of NXE *which is confirmed as fast if not faster then XMB* and often *99% of the time* lead to content that either has to do with video games or movies, or dlc on xbox live it self...and often offer free avatars and themes for looking at them?
I mean just recently they had an advertisment for the Windows 7 phone it was a unique little ad actually using my avatar as part of the ad the person on the video talked to my avatar and my avatar reacted and I got a free Windows 7 phone prop for my avatar and it took less then 10 seconds to do it.
Odd how people are so angry at ad's that dont affect them or their gameplay.

But please keep acting like a point in time is constant and those numbers didn't change.Defence Force Active!
But seriously, I think MS have done more damage to gaming. Unlike Nintendo and Sony, MS's console are just old PCs stuck in console cases, which is not surprising given the companies background.
The business model of buying exclusives and exclusive day 1 dlc for 'xbox' only etc, is a poison to the industry. Charging for xbla is awful also.

We got some confirmed facts here Microsoft introduced every bad thing to the games industry before Microsoft there were no purchased exclusives, no purchased developers, no purchased content...etc
Microsoft intorduced all of these things.
A short excerpt of an interview of Former EA Chief creative Officer Bing Gordonby Gameinformer on his dealings with nintendo and others.
"Nintendo was operating with near monopoly power they had like 95 percent share of the console business, and they had earned it because they took a huge risk. If a publisher wanted to get in bed with the NES, they had to fly to japan, state its case for a development system, andif nintendo deemed it worthy there was only one deal on the table.
Nintendo would sell the company a dev kit for a ridiculous price, and after a game was finished the publisher had to send it to nintnedo, which would ultimately decide whether our not it would be manufactured. Wait, We spend all this time and we build a game but we don't know if we can bring it to market? That's right, and if we decide to bring it to market we manufacture it and we'll tell you how many we'll build you pay us half the cost, and then we manufacture it when we feel like it. When its done in japan you pay the second half of the cost and we release it and you figure out how you want to ship it.
By exerting new total control over any publisher who wanted to work on its platforms, nintendo essentially operated like a legal extortionist under the guise of the license agreement. Even if you created a game that would fly off store shelves if given the opportunity, nintendo could freeze you out of the market if they didn't like the game, decided it was too similar to one of its own games and thus cut into their profits, or felt the content didn't fit with its vision of the console."
Such shady tactics can be attributed to nintendo, Sega, Sony...But no Microsoft introduced all bad things to the industry....20 years before they entered it...

Why would anyone care about what´s happening inside the plastic box? At the end, that 'old PC' has a huge library of games and have been showing some of the best looking games in this console generation.
[QUOTE="lowkey254"]And Kinect. How is that any different from PS Move and Wii? I don't have a Kinect nor am I interested in it but seriously you can't down a company, whether it be Nintendo Sony or MS, for manufacturing a product that people will buy. Nintendo had huge success so Sony and MS are just riding the motion controlled wave. It doesn't interest me so I don't buy it, you don't have to either. They are the best thing because of Live, they are the worst thing because of their money schemes.

Either way Socom since 1 was very popular online and with voice chat,in fact PS2 owners where playing online before xbox owners and with voice chat as well,so actually giving credit to MS for something they did not do is silly, what will be next MS make analogues popular or shoulder buttons.
