I usually download both demos and then choose from there. So far, I have bought all of my multiplats on the 360. They usually run slightly smoother and I prefer the controller and xbox live.

whichever one friends buy it for. also, after late 2007, games look even on both consoles. just a few outliers: fallout 3 (xbox360), burnout paradise (ps3)

Mainly it depends on if it is a multi-player game, in which case you should buy it for whichever system you have more friends on. If that doesn't matter, then I'd say 360. It has a better online system, and aside from fighting games it has a better controler. I only buy exclusives for my PS3.

I am going to buy all multiplatform games for the PLAYSTATION 3. Good reason - FREE ONLINE. I can play them online 5 years from now. I refuse to ever pay for XBL again. If I want XBL from now until 5 years from now (which might not even be offered for the 360 in 5 years) I would have to pay $250!!! It's free on Ps3, so I will buy all multiplats for Ps3.

The only problem there is the online system is left up to the game developers. On Live you get consistent online functionality, cross-game chat, and a party system. I gladly pay what amounts to $3 and some change a month to not chance another MLB 09: The Show. Great game...horrible online experience. Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

I don't own both systems, I only have a 360 for now. However, I've thought about this for the time when I get my PS3. It all comes down to which console has a better performance with the game and which control better suits the game (for example, SF4 seems better on the PS3 controller though I've adapted to playing it on a 360 controller).

Except for some games in particular, the 360 versions are better bets (though not by a wide margin).

I think that in the end, is all about the online, sure, the PS3 have free online, but is not as good as live, and the 360, well, you have to pay, but the online is better than PS3, then again, the PS3 one is free.

I buy multiplats for my PS3. They usually don't look as good but I don't play online enough to justify Live, and I dispise having to let my 360 cool down every couple of hours. On top of that I like the PS control, and always have since the first dual shocks came out.

Well not really, Steam is free and its better than both XBL and PSN.

It is generally excepted that the X360 multiplats are slightly better, whether textures or framerate or whatever

Or mainly because you don't even have a 360. Xbox live gives you what you paid for. On PSN I feel playing with bots since hardly no1 use Mics. On Topic: I get them on the 360 because the online is BETTER, the controller is better for my favorite games(FPS/TPS) and for the achievements.

PS3 95% of the time, with The Orange Box as an exception.

Doesn't really matter. usually the differences are so small it doesn't matter.

though there are some exceptions, where a game has more issues on one platform than the other, like the orange box on the PS3.

I buy 95% of multiplats for my PS3. Here's what you have to consider: Controller Perference: No explanation there. Online: PSN is free but if you already have Live then it's up to your friends list etc... Graphics: 360 multiplats still have a slight graphical edge over the PS3 but it's nothing major.

Considering he's talking about Multi-platform titles, which will have an online system identical on both platforms that point is null. It's actually a good point though. If PSN remains free for good, you'll never need to worry about paying for a new subscription should you wish to play an old game online. Nor would you get lesser quality, since, as stated, multi-platform titles usually have an identical online setup. Well, those between PS3/360 at least.

Pretty much on the spot. Also there are sometimes where ps3 has a slight edge graphics wise, but its nothing major. I also get 98-99% of my multiplats on PS3.

GEARS2, Xbox 360s premier game last year and the online was horribly broken. Were you getting what you paid for then?? Meanwhile PS3 had Resistance 2 with 6x the number of players online in a game running with no problems at all and that was free to play.

Which controller do you like the most? Would you rather have achievements or trophies? If the game has online, will more of your friends be getting it on one system than the other? Are there any notable graphics differences between the two in reviews? Will one version be getting exclusive DLC?

I usually buy for PS3, but sometimes for 360, depends of how good of a job devs do on the PS3 version.

The 360. I have more friends online on the 360, I prefer the controller and since multiplats generally perform better on the 360 (even if the difference is marginal), it's pretty much a no brainer for me.

Well, I never played Gears 2 online. I was playing COD WaW at that time. I did hear of horrible lag problems and such on Gears 2 though. However, the consistent online functionality that I'm referring to is a consistent and usable UI. In MLB 09, you can't start chatting until the game starts, and then you have to click on the left thumbstick to activate chat. Considering that you have to use the left stick to bat with, you end up clicking it and turning chat on\off all the time. That is where a party system comes in handy. Start your chat from the dashboard, and just keep bullsh#ting with your buddy right into the opening pitch. Hey, at least Sony recently released cross-game texting. Thanks, Sony! Now I can stop what I'm doing in the middle of a shootout and return my friend's text.

PS3

1. More reliable discs, so my games will last longer, and be in better shape if I ever want to sell them.

2. The PS3 is more reliable so I'd say it's a safer bet, it would suck if I got all my multiplats for the 360 and then the console died on me.

3. I know I'll always have online up and running, even if a game has just some small online thingy, at least on PSN it will always work without having to worry about Gold memberships.

me too, so far i have fifa 09, prince of persia and street fighter 4 on ps3. The rest of my multiplats are on 360, although i have had my ps3 since october 2008, and 360 since launch so having more multiplats for 360 is a little obvious.

Majority of the time, 360. I did buy Mirrors edge and Riddick for PS3. I also bought NG sigma just so I could delete NG black and free up space on my hard drive.

Whatever system your friends have, but the 360 versions are usually the best bet because they seem to get the most exlusive DLC.
