I have always laughed when people say that ps3 multiplat are crappy because it is ported from xbox, that many things has to be taken away to fit on an xbox.ect. because it seems a bit fanboyish to say that even know some multiplats are prety good, (Such as cod)

I have installed Sak on the ps3 ( it lets you see how much space are taken on bluray discs)

i was wondering how much big all my games are i wasnt intentionally trying to compare multiplat to exclusives, i was just wondering and here are the results

Exclusives:

MGS4 33gb

Killzone 2 12gb

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 11gb

Resistance 2 22gb

Multiplats:

Cod4 8gb

Gta4 8gb

Dmc4 8gb

(The fact that all the multiplats all have 4s on the end and has 3 letters in the front is completely coincidental.:) )

8gb seems to be an interesting number wouldn't you say? OMG can it be?? its around the size limited on DVD!!

so it seems the fanboys were right multiplats don't reach ps3 potential. reason y Cod4 is short, and repetitive gameplay on GTA, DMC, and AC.

feel free to argue. but please be reasonable.

PS: In The Name Of The King is 39gb, Street Fighter is 32gb, and God of war 2 is 8gb

You make a valid point. It could be a reason why most games are short, 360's disc capacity is holding the PS3 back.

A developer can throw as many content as they want on a Blu Ray disc but they cant because the PS3 and 360 version of the game has to be indentical in terms of content.

As far as space goes, Multiplat's aren't usually going to take advantage of Blu.

If you are a publisher, you are going to make the game on both platforms and call it a day.

I would hope and assume that even the most hardcore fanboy's know that...while it's a shame for PS3 owners, the reverse doesn't make fiscal sense for publishers.

Yes that is a valid point when it comes to the capacity of the blu ray disk, but that still doesn't shed light on why an 8 gig game on the 360 looks better than an 8 gig game on the ps3. They are both the same size, yet they always tend to look better on 360. What if the 360 was able to run a 33 gig game? Would it look better than that same 33 gig game on the ps3?

yup then you compress the exclusives and look they are all less then 9 gb

and your remark on cod4 can be said about all games, well at least the repetitive part since i am not sure on all hte games lengths you listed(gta being longer but repeatitve as hell)

Yes the developers don't have to work harder to make the ps3 version better because they dont have to

That said, there are some developers that are passionate about gaming, such as kojima, he wanted snake's final mission to be on ps3,they got paid a lot by sony but surely sony didn't pay them enough to cover what microsoft would have paid him. im glad that rising is on 360 so everyone can enjoy the series and snake would have his final mission on the platform where it all started. i respect him

Too bad MGS4 is 50 gigs Compressed. That's why you have to install every chapter because they compressed so much to get the game on there.

Also, multiplats on 360 only have up to 7.5 gigs. A minimum of 1.5 gigs is allocated towards "security" on the 360 DVD 9's, thus leaving 7.5 left.

Did you even read the TC post?

You changed the whole topic, this isn't about Power.Plenty of topics about that, both systems are fairly close, so that's a moot point.

Wow, this is actually a very interesting post. Personally, I'm surprised that MGS4 takes 33GB even though I read somewhere that they were having a bit of trouble having it all fit on one disc. So I thought it'd be 40GB at least.

And also, when you install a game to the hard drive, the 360 shows how big the game is. Gears of War 2 is 6.8GB and that is the highest I've ever seen for 360 game. I'm certain that there's actually only 7GB usable by the developers.

So yeah, you've pretty much proven that some multiplat games are limited by the 360. Not by a lot, but still.

Simply put it doesnt matter how much more powerful ps3's cpu is than xbox360's, 360 graphics processor is more advanced period. a pc with a intel quadcore cpu and 7800 gtx would get smoked by a single core athlon 64 with a 8800 gt lol.

Why are you talking about CPU's and GPU's?

That's not the TOPIC, I would try to read it all again, you are going completely off topic.

As fory 360 multiplats look better, i remember reading that multiplats are made on xbox first to fit in the 8gb limit then port over to the ps3 since if they make it on the ps3 first, which hasa 25gb limit for single layer would not fit on the ps3 so it seems theye makinggames to work completely awesome on the 360 then transfer to ps3. but i cant confirm if this is true

Cow's fail to realize that game size has nothing to do with graphics and quality. Sure larger more detailed higher resolution textures take up more space but even the game with the best graphics ATM only takes up 6gb of install space (Crysis).

PC users don't measure their PC's speed by their hard drive/media storage size... console users shouldn't either.

ps2 was harder to develop for than dreamcast yet, the port of unreal tournament 1999 is better on ps2 graphically. It's because ps2 had more memory. ps3 games look worse than xbox360 because of less memory but also because inferior gpu it's not because ps3 is harder to develop for than 360 that's a big lame ass excuse.

it's not physically possible for multiplatform games on ps3/360 to look the game unless the dev purposely didnt push limits for each console the 360 would always turn out better

Next gen games will require more than 8GB of space in my opinion. At the end of the day I think Sony did a good job with adapting a bigger capacity disc because of one main reason, future proof and developers dont have limitations, and having no limitations opens up rooms for more content, features, improvements and lots of stuff.

idsoftware's new game rage would of looked better on xbox360 if microsoft didnt charge idsoftware money for every dvd they ship game content on. their basically watering 360 version down from ps3 because they dont have the money john carmack has even said the 360 version would of looked better if the game shipped on the amount of dvd's they had planned. *john carmack We always run out of memory first on ps3*

How is it out of the question? While I can't confirm Crysis' size, I can confirm that a number of PC titles that look significantly better than anything on the PS3 or 360 take up less than 9GB of disk space (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War 2 and World in Conflict). While it isn't a perfect comparison, the fact remains that DVD is not the limiting factor for either the PS3 or 360.

Yes, it is a limiting factor. Considering games don't have mandatory FULL installs like PC, it is a limiting factor. Those PC games you mentioned are compressed to the level of a zip file, and on fly decompression is out of the question, thats why PC's don't count in this.

[QUOTE="Dweedledude5000"][QUOTE="double_heist"]FFXIII to be 8gb confirmed, one CD. FFXIII will probably be 5 hours long. :lol:gangster480

Dont be silly lol. FFX took me 1 whole month to beat on PS2.. and I believe PS2 discs didn't have 8gigs.. I may be wrong tho :P

i can actually check right now to see how much space FFXtakes, hold on

FFX is 4299 mb so single layer dvd, but it is possible for ps2 games to have 8 gb like god of war 2

I thought FFX is going to be bigger with all the cgi movies but its 4gbs

Ive no time to wait. Your calling me out as a 360 Fanboy. That makes you a PS3 Fanboy. Owned. End of. Deal with it. Im now going to go play my Superior Xbox 360 version of Soul Calibur 4 whitch has the better Breasts to oogle at other than those stiff Blocky PS3 versions

Last time I checked the topic is about PS3 and 360's disc capacity. PC is out of the question.def_mode

Those PC games you mentioned are compressed to the level of a zip file, and on fly decompression is out of the question, thats why PC's don't count in this.

exactly my thought!

DVD will soon be a limiting factor in my opinion.

it's not a limiting factor on pc because ur installing the game content to a harddrive so it doesnt even matter if a game ships on 50 dvd's lol. you wont need em after it's installed it's basically only a limiting factor on 360 because microsoft charges dev money for every dvd they use to ship their game on.

if microsoft would stop charging money it wouldnt be a limiting factor, but ahh who cares even if a 360 comes on 50 dvd atleast it will have better graphics than ps3 version. yea metal gear solid 4 might need 2 or 3 dvd on 360 but it would look graphically better LULZ

Wow, that's kinda small. To think that there were cutscenes, voiced dialogues, and high-quality music. Alright, FFXIII to be 15 hours long with no sidequests.

xbox360's hardware is better mgs4 honestly would of looked better on 360 even if needed to be shipped on like 10 dvd's because the hardware has more memory.
